VERY RARE, innovative and expert welder who takes pride in what he does. I could go on about John but will spare the details and be direct/brief. Take your project to John and he will own it, then exceed your expectations. He will also undercharge you, so please insist on paying more. I told him the job didn't need to be pretty, just sturdy. What I got could not be sturdier nor prettier. Simply put, I've never experienced this quality of work in my 59 years. I'm confident you will have the same experience. read more

I have a wood dining room table with wrought iron legs. One leg has been broken and bent for about 3 years. I seriously thought I was going to have to replace the whole thing, chairs and all, until I decided to see if someone could fix it. The likely professional would be a welder. I contacted 3 welders; John stood out. John fixed the leg in a matter of minutes. He is friendly, professional, fair, fast and talented. My table has 3 more legs plus 6 chairs with wrought iron legs. Now that I know they can be fixed, I'm sure I'll be seeing John again. Thank you John read more

He made it so easy... I rarely need welding work done but will go here first! He understood the job instantly and completed within a reasonable time. The cost was extremely fair and he even made some minor modifications afterward for free. So happy with this experience. Jeff read more

Pro. That's all you need to know about this guy. He is a legitimate PRO. I came to him on a recommendation from a buddy of mine. It was a small job that wouldn't take much but it was obvious to me that this guy was the real deal by how he handled the situation. It was a small piece of shift linkage from a motorcycle that was poorly designed. Not only did he weld it back together, he completely reinforced it - thereby making it much stronger than it had been and painted it as well. He went above and beyond for my little part, which was really cool. I paid him the asking price and tried to give him a bit more for going the extra mile and he refused to take it. Super nice guy that knows what he is doing. read more

What a great and effective man. I was a stranger with a sculpture that required a skillful and artistic repair. John had been recommended by one of his colleagues as "the most skillful welder in Santa Barbara". I showed John the problem and he said he could fix it in a day or two. We discussed that the repair would remove some of the patina, but that I could probably get some paint to fix it. When I arrived to pick it up, John had not only fixed the broken legs on the eagle, he also had found some paint to visually repair the patina. I was most grateful. And "he did not charge me an arm and a leg" for his work, as predicted by his colleague. I have found a skillful and trusted craftsman who has treated me as a friend. Thank you for your skill and friendship. read more

John Tilford is my go-to guy for any welding or metal fabrication projects I may have. I'm a contractor, and he built my truck rack from scratch in 1991, then modified it a couple of years ago when I changed to a more modern truck. Saved me a lot of money by keeping the old rack going. He has done metal fabrication projects for my business over the years, along with repairs when needed. He has been an invaluable resource for me, and could be for you as well. read more

Just like the previous reviewer stated, Tilford is AWESOME. I have taken several things to him including a motorcycle gas tank with holes and exaust pipes I wanted lengthened. He always does a great job, is inexpensive, and gets things done quickly, normally within a couple days. read more

I agree the AJ. This guy is a pro. He has done a number of important fabrication jobs for us on vintage car restoration projects. Roy Miller referred us to him and its been an incredible contact and resource. Can't recommend him enough. read more

John does not say much (nothing wrong with that) but he sure did a great job welding the three projects that I gave him. The work was done on time and at a fair price. I will definitely use John again for many other welding projects. This guy know his stuff. Thanks again John read more
