After a long search for a Spanish language school that is suitable for professionals and adults, I settled on Escuela Tilde. They were very helpful in putting me in touch with their ex-students, all of whom gave me detailed and enthusiastic descriptions of the program. I studied at Tilde for 3 months in 2014 - hence the detailed search.
I have studied upwards of 5 languages and am quite familiar with learning a new language. Still, I was impressed by the approach at Tilde. The teachers are all experienced and passionate - so much so that I felt they were more concerned about my performance than I was. :-) They tailored the program and paced it based on my progress, rather than a standard pace that's applied to all students.
I found the small class size, reading the daily press over coffee in the mornings, and cultural visits to museums, important sites, etc extremely helpful. The latter activities not only helped me to learn the language in a practical context, but, also to get a grounding in Spanish history, culture, arts and architecture, which is invaluable for someone curious about all things Spanish. The other students who attended the school were quite interesting as well, as they were from different countries and diverse professional backgrounds.
For me, it certainly turned out to be an intense 3 month education in Spanish language, culture and people and I felt very lucky indeed to have that much time at Tilde. But, regardless of how long one's there, with a bit of an extra effort, one can take advantage of everything the school and Madrid has to offer. it can be a fulfilling and memorable experience, whether you do it in one trip, or, over many.
Tilde is a gem of a school tucked away right in the center of Madrid that's well worth discovering. The school lived up to it's fine reputation and I too can now vouch for it. read more
