But at Aria, which I found out about through a friend's recommendation, I decided to give it a shot. This Japanese hair salon is in the CBD and keeps their clients happy and their hairdressers relatively busy. I've now been there twice: each visit with a different hairdresser and have come out a happy camper. The second time around, I knew I could just pick up one of the magazines and point at it and let the stylist know what I was looking for. Taka, who is a manager stylist and unfortunately has moved up to Brisbane, takes great care when snipping away. You're definitely safer off with a manager stylist, which is worth the extra cost as the prices there are rather wallet-friendly. Customer service there is fantastic! It probably has a lot to do with the (Japanese) culture but from the point of entering ("Konichiwa!!") until when they see you off at the door, they're there mindfully doing their job well. Also, they've got promos like "happy hour" where it's 20% off M-F before noon and others that are released through their newsletters, as well as others like friend referrals. I highly recommend Aria salon if you're looking to get a good haircut, at great value, and fabulous service!

My kids get regular hair cuts here and they love it! The lady that cuts their hair is just like a regular mummy - no glamour pusses at this salon! She makes the kids feel really comfortable and talks to them the whole time she is cutting their hair. Extreme Hairworks salon has a great family friendly, laid back atmosphere and they provide professional services at really affordable prices.

Everywhere else opens at 9am and it was 7am and I just didn't want to wait 2 hours. Sublime catered to that. They are like the lighter, brighter, friendlier version of Oscar Oscar, the hairstylists have about 4 or 5 different levels of expertise, all of which you pay for. Yes, this is going to be a pricey little adventure I was very resigned to that. No, I initially didn't plan on spending that much on a haircut. Having said that, I do pay over $100 for a massage or day spa treatment... and getting your hair done properly is like pampering yourself. I had an Art Director cut my hair (I selected the 'anyone' option online) and it did cost me $115... but it included a deluxe treatment, scalp massage, initial scalp massage and blow dry... which I've got to say, for the service and timing, was very much worth my time. Will be back again... and my hair smells awesome... and they don't even try and sell you products which is a huge plus.

I have never left the place hating how my hair looked. The customer service and little extras that this place offers is also pleasant. I will give you a word of warning though, do not expect to be able to walk in without an appointment. When making an appointment, you will be asked which what level you wish your hairdresser to be at, keep in mind that the price differs accordingly to the experience level of the hairdresser. I usually ask for the a second level hairdresser which costs me $75 which includes blow drying and straightening. Upon arrival, you will be offered a tea or coffee and biscuit. You will then get a relaxing massage before the hairdresser begins cutting away. Whenever I have asked my hairdresser questions relating to products for my hair, she has been very helpful and it is clear she knows what she is talking about. I never feel like I am being pushed to buy a product also, she is very respectful of that. Overall, I recommend this hairdressers. The staff are generally very nice and have the skills to back that up.

A very resonably priced salon as well (how many places can say that in Brisbane!). Another thing I love about Tonsure is that they never over or double-book - I have the same hairdresser from start to finish and the well-trained apprentices to wash hair and observe the techniques without being in the way. Obsidian Hair is where its at…read more I came across this place as I wandered down Brunswick street midday one Wednesday looking like a golliwog biscuit, my afro was larger than life, I looked like I was wearing a helmut, a helmut made of hair. Too hungover from another great Taco tuesday night at the Alibi room (when it was cool, its almost cool at the moment but its just not what it used to be) to even care about what I was doing or where I was going something compelled me (it may simply of been the weight of my hair mountain propelling me forward) to inquire as to whether or not they could fit me in for a simple cut. An hour later I was out of there with the best hair cut I have had in ages and for half the price I was expecting to pay. I informed the owner/the lady who cut my hair at the time that I had only just moved in around the corner and that I was living with 10 other guys (long story). Upon hearing this she handed me a piece of paper saying that we would all get discounted rates if we were to visit Obsidian again - thats service!
