I used one of the Groupon vouchers for Barber Queen to get my hair Cut, Treated and Straightened (GHD finish according to the voucher)
Firstly, the name written down for my booking wasn't mine despite me offering to spell it on the phone.
While I was getting my hair washed I got to listen to two of the hairdressers critisizing another who was a couple of metres away- with a customer. This came across as very unprofessional to me. Not the best impression to start.
The only time I was asked about what I wanted from my cut was when it was assumed all I wanted was a trim. This is all I ended up getting.
It took longer to straighten my hair then it did to cut it. I could of straightened it at home. I did not pay for a day of straight hair.
The hairdresser who cut my hair was different to the one who spoke to me about what I wanted, yet I was not asked to confirm what I wanted done. She simply started trimming and didn't talk to me at all until she was blow-drying my hair when I couldn't hear (apparently asking me if I wanted a drink, which I did appreciate).
Once my hair was straight she made sure it was all the right length, showed me the back of it, and simply stood there waiting for me to get up and leave. I had held the expectation that she'd eventually ask if I wanted something else done too, or even an "is that short enough for you?"
In general, the way my hair was cut was nice (even though it was only part of what I'd originally wanted), the staff seemed polite enough mostly, but came across as incredibly distant from the customers they were working with most of the time.
They all seem like good hairdressers, and maybe if it was another day when Barber Queen wasn't busy they'd more attentive to each single customer.
However, I felt like my appointment was incredibly rushed through and that it was deemed 'unimportant'.
For my first haircut in over half a year (and Brisbane), I was incredibly disappointed.
The only reason I'm giving this place three instead of two stars is that despite the staff not being very helpful, they obviously do their main jobs well, even if it wasn't what I wanted (or specifically paid for); my hair looks a lot healthier and was cut well. read more
