Factory Outlet North Finchley is nothing like that. There are some good deals to be had, even a rack starting at just 5 pounds. I'll admit the clothes in this shop are taste-full and beautiful. There is a particularly nice brown ruffle dress in a silky material for 22 pounds and some lovely knits that wrap around your body. The staff here is friendly enough and not up your arse, in a way that is common in a small store. I like to come in here and have a poke around. I will note this store only sells clothing so no handbags or shoes on offer.

This shop is a Topshop outlet store that sells very discounted merchandise and has constant sales. Yesterday, they were doing the old buy One get One free bit. You can get a pair of Kate Moss pants for 3 pounds (they are last season but still sell it on eBay!) and there is also a discounted selection of shoes. Many items in here are 20.00 or less including a section of clothing for 8 pounds. I also noticed, unsure why, nothing to do with me, that this store has a lot of size six clothing so if you are very small you may be in luck here! A must for Topshop fans.

The Designer Warehouse is one of my favourite London discoveries…read more Not far from my home, and just off Seven Sisters road is a monthly sale for designer clothes - having heard from it from a colleague, I didn't really know what to expect. It was great and would definitely recommend giving it a visit. When getting to the warehouse, you have to leave your bag and coat (including your phone) in a cloakroom, and may a small fee of £3 (or 2?) to be able to get in. The sale is over 2 floors, and organised by designers - some are really well known, some are smaller names I've never heard of. It's not a posh environment, it's just rows and rows of clothes on hangers - and you have to take the time to go through them to find the gems, and also your size. There aren't any changing rooms, but there is an area where you can go and try them on at the back of the venue - it's closed off to men, but you do have to accept getting changed in front of other women. I am myself a massive fan of Vivienne Westood, and this was also the opportunity for me to try on a few pieces of her clothes - and yes, I did cave in and buy a top (1/3 of the original price) and a scarf. Good to know: they separate their sales between womanswear and menswear - their schedule is updated on their website.

Happy days!…read more Apparently Oliver Bonas has been around for a while but personally I'd never heard of it until my sister pointed it out to me recently. I think it must recently have expanded as I saw a big one has also popped up in the Bentall Centre in Kingston. It's similar to Joy in that it has homeware, clothes, jewellery etc. yet it's a little more kitsch and cutesie in that it has a baby section and is more predominantly focussed on homeware and gifts than clothes. I recently bought 2 gorgeous dresses for myself and a top for my mum - very reasonably priced and good quality. Yay for Oliver Bonas!
