I should have just cut to the chase and gone to I Love Hamburg from the beginning. It would have saved me plenty of time! They had everything I was looking for and more! The surprise gem of the store was the clothing they have. The shirts are high quality and they even have some more specific-to-Hamburg options (a sailor's shirt for kids and adults, an old sailor's hat, etc.)

Winkel van Sinkel is located in a very cool area in Hamburg, and the whole store is accented by gorgeous greenery-- air plants in hanging geometric shapes, succulents big and small, and a little bit of everything else. You can definitely feel the fresh oxygen! I went in looking for a wedding present for my sister and found just what I didn't even know I needed: a beautiful hand-crafted box by the talented German carpenter Gunter König. Since each "Etage" is sold separately, you could pick and choose from the many types of wood and stains and make your own unique box, which I thought was special, especially for a gift. The top that I chose was a really beautiful mahogany. Since it was handmade, it didn't fit quite perfectly. I thought this was absolutely fine but the saleswoman told me that it should be perfect, and then offered me a discount. She also said she had some pieces in the store, and I got the idea (though I could be wrong) that several artists and craftsmen share the space to showcase and sell their own items. If that's how it works, I think it's a really amazing concept, and definitely a successful one. The items are pretty pricey, but as they're mostly handcrafted, it's definitely money well spent. I found lots of unique pieces that I would love to start collecting, and overall found the staff to be super friendly and helpful, and the store just a wonder to be inside.

Even if you don´t buy anything you will leave this place with a good feeling. However I would find it hard to believe that you actually left the store without a bag in your hand.Too much temptation! All their plants are beautiful and well taken care of. The owner is very friendly and helpful (She speaks perfect English so if you are not a local don´t hesitate asking for advice on how to water your newly purchased succulent ;) ) I got to be careful otherwise I am going to overload my apartment with their products ;) Mucho love, D.
WvS - Winkel van Sinkel. Das ist mein Laden. Und die Becher sind eigentlich Trinkbecher. Eignen sich aber hervorragend als Kakteentopf.
