It is the only building to have served as such for Tift County as the county was only formed in 1905. It in the Beaux Arts Classicism architectural style, designed by architect William Augustus Edwards (1866-1939). He is responsible for a number of buildings at the University of Florida in Gainesville and Florida State University and many county courthouses throughout the South. There is street parking in front and like several other Edwards buildings, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There is a war memorial on the corner. It is always a nice and educational experience everytime I go. You are guaranteed to have a fun…read morefilled time during your visit. This is the ideal place for a family outing. The employees are always friendly and helpful throughout my walk through of the museum. There is a train ride on a 1917 steam train that is a great experience for both children and adults. The cute country store located at the entrance has a nice selection of home decor, clothing, candy, toys etc as well as hand dipped ice cream, hot and cold coffees and pastries.
