I picked up a Tickled Pink Mag at Accent on Nature the other day and have been so impressed reading it that I looked it up to learn more. It does feature many boutiques and local businesses in their advertisements so I assume that it is a Columbus-specific, women's monthly publication. I typed it in Wikipedia, which I mistakenly thought knew everything, and found nothing. Nevertheless, if you see any of these free mags in shops you must grab one. They are very pink and cheerful and the articles actually have meat to them and are fairly helpful.
Taken from the website, this is a cute snippet about the mag:
'Because it's feminine, it's fun, and it's cliché! It's all of these things and more.
Pink is symbolic. It is the color of girls & the color of women. Pink is the first color that defines who we are from the very first day we are born.
This is what Tickled Pink Magazine is all about. We
look to offer guidance to all women, to tell the stories of our successes and our struggles and to entertain & educate. We are all women, we are Tickled Pink.'
While flipping through the magazine, I read about the Tickled Pink Perks card which promptly got my attention. The instructions say to email them and request the card which I did. Weeks ago. Still no card and more importantly, no follow up, no 'thank you for supporting Tickled Pink Magazine. Your Perks Card is on the way.'
I'm a bit surprised at the start-ups lack of communication with its reader to be honest. Maybe they are small-staffed and are too busy to deal with such things but geez. I'd be nurturing every reader I had while on my quest for magazine success. Look at George (the JFK Jr mag), or better yet, C'bus Magazine- done. Finito. Terminado. So sad- but the magazine industry is tough. How will you stand out? Will you be accessible to your readers? These are questions that need to be addressed.
But having said all that I am really looking forward to the next issue on Oct 10. read more
