PLEASE CONSIDER OTHER ATTORNEYS BEFORE HIRING. I hired attorney Robert Birchfield (AKA 'Bob' at The Ticket Warrior) in January to handle a citation, but I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and communication. I repeatedly asked for updates over several months with the understanding that my court date would be extended at the beginning of April. With zero updates received, I called the courthouse at 8:00 AM on the day of my deadline (today April 7th), only to find out that nothing had been filed on my behalf. I had to handle my own extension to avoid a failure to appear/warrant. Only after I contacted Bob this morning he attempted a last-minute email to the court at 8:31 AM. He claimed he had already made an arrangement, but when I called the court back, they confirmed he had just sent the email and it was still pending. This caused me unnecessary stress and forced me to do the work I specifically hired him for. While he did refund my money after I advised him of California Rule of Professional Conduct 1.4 (Duty to keep client informed), I would not recommend this firm if you are looking for peace of mind or proactive representation. Would give them 0 stars if I could. Joe explained the ticket process to me and how he would appear in court and go during a day when it is a nicer judge etc etc...and took my 400 dollars.... nothing happened. He said he had a court date for my arraignment on Jan 14 and Then they send me an obviously automated email the next day explaining how I must pay the ticket via mail because that's pretty much the only way it will work since the courts in that county are harsh and they will try to get the ticket removed that way. I am upset because this is not the process that they explained to me over the phone.. it was pretty obvious to me that paying the ticket and trying to do it by mail was really What Joe was planning to do alll along... ?? I was willing to pay 400 for Joe to appear for me in court to hopefully remove my late fees and the ticket, but I wasn't willing to pay 400 for a mail in process.... I told Joe I don't want to do any of that and I just want my money back since I don't want to continue this process anymore! Please just give me at least 350 dollars back! Joe himself seemed like he knew what he was doing and sold me so I paid him the $625 that he asked for in January because I had two tickets I needed to handle. One was settled in December because I was out of town and did not take care of it In time and my second ticket needed to be handled the beginning of January. Joe stated that we'll take care of the second ticket since that was immediate concern and since he's familiar with the surrounding courts, he'll try to see in he can reopen my case with the first ticket to explain that I was out of town. It was a lot of money to me since I'm a mother raising two young ones on my own on a single income. Right after paying I never heard back from his office. No courtesy call or updates. I called twice and girl that answers phones says the other girl handling my case was supposed to call me to let me know when my trial date was. Of course no call back. I thought something was fishy and started having anxiety about my speeding ticket (going from sf to la) so I called feb 13 and the girl that answered the phone remembered me and felt bad that I still have not been contacted by anyone from their office since paying them so she looked up my case and said joe was going to court for me on feb 15, in two days! I was out of town for my birthday so I asked if there was anything they needed from me before I left, like the reason why I was speeding (my son needing to go to ER and my mother who was watching him doesn't speak English and was panicking so I rushed back to LA from SF hence my two speeding tickets in one night, yes I know it was a terrible mistake but when your driving a rental you're not familiar with and worried your infant might die you might easily end up speeding. Prior I have a clean record and I'm a nurse that does not always make this kind of mistake). They said no because joe would take care of everything. I had anxiety my entire birthday trip. The point of hiring a lawyer was to not be worried and to trust them to take care of everything. On my birthday I found out that The verdict was I'd have 2 pts on my record for 7 Years!!! And pay a $480 (or almost $500) large hefty fine for the ticket. There was no point in hiring a lawyer. This office did nothing to help me in my situation. The only person doing there job is the girl that answers the phone. After my verdict I was not very happy. Joe called me and said the officer showed up and there was no winning. Well I thought that was the point of hiring an attorney? To fight it? To do something other than show up and accept that your client is guilty and will be scarred with 2pts on her record? I could have done that myself. Also, joe finally called me after hearing that I was upset about the outcome and I wanted to know what happened and why I'm getting the 2pts instead of traffic school or anything to lower it to 1 pt. Or anything. He basically told me the officer showed up so there was nothing he could do (wow, great job) and when asked about my other ticket, he tried to charge me an additional $700 to go to court to request to reopen my case from December when I was out of town. I paid you $625 already and got nothing from you and now you want to charge me an additional $700 for a "long shot" in reopening my case? Seriously I was appalled. I never called joe back and I'm not surprised he or his office never called me back to see if I wanted to try for the $700. They already got their $625. I ended up calling the other court to see if I could reopen my case and the clerk said it wasn't necessary if all I wanted was traffic school I just had to send a check. So instead of paying $700 to Joe's office, I simply wrote a check to the courts for traffic school and that took care of my case from December. I can't help but feel like lawyers are con artists and really don't give a hoot about your situation as long as they get paid. Horrible experience and I do not recommend this office. I hope my review makes people think twice before hiring this attorney. Zero stars for this office and experience with them! They're really good at making you feel like they care and that's how they get you to pay them. Take your chances and show up cause that's what joe does anyway and charges you for it when you could do it for free yourself. read more
