This is an awesome community pool for city folk to cool off at. It's a pretty long drive to the…read morebeach from this corner of Somerville, so it's great to have somewhere closer to pop in on a hot summer day. Entry is $2 for adults, or you can pay $40 for a season pass. The parking lot is small, but there's additional parking at Dilboy stadium a short walk away. No food or drink allowed (besides water of course) which is a bummer, but makes sense for health and cleanliness issues. A few other reviewers thought the pool was dirty, but I haven't found that to be true. The locker rooms/bathrooms are a little rough, but it's an old community pool, what do you expect? It's pretty packed with kids so this is not the place to come for peace and quiet. Regardless, this will be a regular haunt of mine this summer for sure!

I feel like this deserves 5 stars because of how great the accessibility is…read more 1. It costs $2pp - something everyone can afford. 2. There is TONS of parking, some of it a bit down the street, but all free. 3. Also - there is a wheel chair ramp. This place is awesome because its quite clean (the pool, perhaps not the bathrooms, but they suffice) and theres space for everyone. You have to bring your own chairs/towels to sit on as they don't have them, but they DO have children's life vests for kids that may not own one (and can't swim yet). Shout out to the pool for being massive. I love this place!

My 5 year old daughter has been attending Little Flippers now for a little over 2 years and I…read morecouldn't be happier. She has worked her way up from a being a non-swimmer to a strong swimmer knowing several stroke styles. For example, when she was 4 she was swimming the length of a pool while her older cousins were still using a life vest and a little timid. My siblings remarked on her ability. I have Little Flippers to thank. I appreciate how a few classes during a session they teach survival skills with the kids coming fully clothed and doing safety drills and skills. Heaven forbid something should happen, I feel confident that my daughter has enough knowledge on what to do. I truly appreciate and highly recommend Little Flippers to anyone interested.

Toward the end of a recent class, the "deck supervisor" approached my six-year-old child, while…read morestill in the pool and told her, in front of an entire pool full of children, that she "didn't do a good enough job" and wasn't moving up to the next class with the rest of her group. Then, when the kids left the pool, this same deck supervisor approached me, interrupting my consoling of my hysterical daughter and told me the same thing. She said, and I quote because this has stuck with me "your daughter didn't do good enough and she needs to stay in level 1". My daughter repeated it back to me. "Daddy, I didn't do good enough." And that broke my heart. That class is 30 minutes long. The deck supervisor could have approached me any time to talk to me privately and let me break the news to my daughter. The school could have sent us a message through their parent portal. They could have called or emailed us. But this "supervisor" chose to embarrass and belittle my daughter in front of dozens of other kids, and then again in front of the children's parents. The next day, I'd finally processed what had happened and the shock had worn off. I called the school and asked to speak to the manager. I was told he was on another call and he'd call me back. I never heard back. I called again on Tuesday and was told the same thing. He'd call me back. Wednesday and Thursday, my calls were met with the same "he'll call you back." Surprisingly, I never heard a word from the school until my wife left a negative review online. And suddenly, they care about the experience. They don't care that they traumatized my daughter to the point where she not only had nightmares for a week straight but specifically asked to never return to swim class because she didn't "want to see the mean lady." An absolutely unprofessional and unapologetic place that you should avoid at all costs.

Our two kids attended Little Flippers between the ages of ~1-5 years old. This was a good…read moreexperience overall and they did learn how to swim, which was the goal. The instructors are AMAZING and are unmatched -- they know how to keep the lessons really fun and make swimming/the water less scary. However, the progress and the curriculum are a bit slow. Each lesson is 30 minutes long, which equates to about 20 minutes of swimming time (but part of that is just getting used to the water, like dunking in their heads). If I were to do it again, I would opt for a couple weeks of private lessons... this would have saved years (in terms of time) and quite a bit of money too. This isn't a knock at all on the instructors, who like I said are great, it's more just the slow progress that they make and it takes a lot of time to see it given how short the lessons are. Sign-up is pretty easy online but popular slots fill quickly. Makeups are allowed by scheduling online. There are 3 sessions to sign up for during the year I think -- fall, winter, and spring. A special shout out to Mr. John and Ms. Cassie who we especially bonded with. Without Mr. John our son would not have gotten there... now he is a great and confident swimmer!

After about a year with no progress at our local Y, we switched our kids to Little Flippers. Best…read moredecision ever. Their swim philosophy and the way they teach helped everything click into place. 2 of my kids went from refusing to put their faces in the water to jumping in at the end of each lesson within weeks. We've had no issues with scheduling our kids, sometimes all 3 of them at once. Yes, they are popular and are not open super late on weekends. This just means that when it's time to enroll I set a reminder for myself (and they send many, plus remind you in your weekly class) and make sure to do it timely. My youngest is still here and the joy and confidence he gets from mastering new skills cannot be beat.
