Went to Tibet Fest today and had a great time. There were some excellent cultural presentations including some live performances including dance and song. I thought the children were great when they were singing in their traditional costumes.
There were some vendors who were selling all kinds of Tibetan products including jewelry, clothing, books, prayer flags, art, music, incense and just about anything else you can think of. There was a Buddhist nuns association who were very kind as were the people from one of the local Tibetan monasteries I spoke with. They were both welcoming and polite.
There was an information table who shared with me some info on what was going on and I am glad I asked. There were some displays about the Dalai Lama and films too in the afternoon. There was also a place where you could try on Tibetan clothing and get some pictures.
Outside of the armory was a places to get Tibetan momos and they had vegetarian and meat options. A plate was $10.00. They also had some chai.
I had a lot of fun and everyone was welcoming. The best thing was it was free! read more
