The busy plate arrived with a generous portion of bacon that was well cooked and tasty. The hash was over seasoned for mine. However the star of the dish is the smashed pea which had a beautiful texture, light and fresh. Sitting on top was a poached egg .. well cooked, I liked the radish too. The staff here are warm, welcoming and efficent. The smiles are given freely from the lovely lady taking orders to the nifty barista behind the machine. We walked through the doors (hoping no one saw our mistake) and within a second were greeted and ushered to a table. We ordered coffees, mulled the daily specials and read the paper. The coffee was fantastic. Not burnt or bitter and needing no sugar to offset the taste. The staff were exceptional. They made us feel wanted even though the place was extremely packed and the turnover rate was high. They were up for a friendly chat and worked well as a team. We ordered the eggs benedict and the special of the day 'smashed avo with crispy pancetta'. Both dishes fantastic with the smashed avo winning out. A generous portion of smooth avocado mixed with feta and topped with pancetta and poached eggs. For a small local cafe this place definitely packed a punch. The food may not have been out of this world or gourmet but the staff made up for any misgivings. I'm glad we have more options close to home and I can guarantee we won't turn our backs on ferrovia next time for the 'cafe around the corner'.
