We went to Grand Gulf because we were spending the day at Mammoth springs and were nearby. Had I made a long drive to this specific park I would have been disappointed. It's cool but there's just not enough to see to spend a whole lot of time there. The bathrooms were clean but toilets were the compostable type so they were not the most fresh smelling. The railings along the overlook areas had very wide gaps (not broken, just wide) . Don't let your young children walk far ahead of you! If there is someone in your party with limited mobility, the stairs will be hard to descend and ascend. Now that the negative is out of the way, let me hype it up somewhat. The trails around the "mini Grand Canyon" are well-kept and short enough for younger children. You could tell there were areas that were newer and had been repaired. The walkways were kept neat. Educational signage was abundant and quite informative. The views were amazing!

The bathroom and shower facility was private and quite functional. We almost passed this place up because a review that I read elsewhere said it was only for small RV's and tent campers. While it is a small park, it is able to handle larger RV's. Even though it has 30 and 50 amp service, the 50 amp service sites were already taken. A lot of people come to this area to fish and do float trips down the Spring River, which is fed primarily from the 9+ million gallons a day coming from Mammoth Spring, where there is a very nice State Park.

It's not just a place--it's an experience. The farm is breathtaking, the horses are magnificent, and Judy Tews is, hands down, one of the kindest and most genuine people I've ever met. I recently got to see two of her new Shire foal, and it was one of those moments you never forget. Watching those big, beautiful babies trot around like they already know they are royalty? Incredible. Judy pours her heart and soul into these animals. Her love for the breed, her knowledge, and the way she opens her farm to visitors is truly special. Whether you're a horse lover, a family looking for something inspiring and wholesome to do, or someone who just appreciates seeing beauty up close--you will fall in love with this place. I can't recommend it enough. Go visit. Go meet Judy. And go meet some of the most stunning horses you'll ever lay eyes on. #SupportLocal #ShireHorseMagic #SummitsValleyShires

It is operated by the Arkansas State Parks system. The visitor center is inside the court house. The staff on duty were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions in detail. The small town of Powhatan once served as one of the county seats of Lawrence County. The court house and county offices here were abandoned in 1963 when the county seats and court houses were consolidated and moved to Walnut Ridge. The structures fell into disrepair following this move. Limited restoration efforts were initially undertaken in the 1970's. Once the State took over, additional restorations followed. The small town has a population of only around 50 people. It's a small park, interesting to see the buildings and displays if you're passing through the area, but there really isn't enough here to justify driving more than a couple hours at the most to get here.
