Our experience with EZ Boat Rentals was extremely disappointing. We rented a pair jet skis we had…read morethem for about 2 1/2 hours and operated them safely the entire time. While we were out on the water, one of the jet skis suddenly died and would not drive anymore. We had to tow it back to the dock. After we returned it, we were shocked to be told that we had broken the driveshaft and were being held responsible for the damage. We never crashed the jet ski, hit anything, sucked anything up on the bottom or misused it in any way. It simply stopped running during normal use. To make matters worse, we were charged $1,325 for the alleged damage. I do not believe the situation was handled fairly, and it was incredibly frustrating to be held financially responsible after the jet ski failed while we were using it responsibly. If you're considering renting from EZ Boat Rentals, I strongly recommend DONT!

This is the best camp EVER! I have been going here for 2 year's and I will defiantly come every…read moreyear that I can. This camp help's you become a better person by practicing the 4 R's (Responsibility, reaching out, reasonable risk, and respect). Everybody there is nice and kind. My first day ever going, I was so nervous that I wouldn't make any friends but when I first met my cabin mates, I felt like we've been friends for ever. The cabins don't have any air conditioning but they do have fans and on the bright side it's cold in the morning but that's the fun of it. The bathrooms are grows but that stuff does not matter. What does matter is the fun of camp. Their is always so much to do. You could never get bored. From sitting at the hearth (the place were fine arts is) too climbing the rock wall, your always having fun. There are also many water activity such as pool, paddle sports, free swim, ski, knee boar, tubing, blobbing, etc.

Our 9 year old son just finished his second summer session (3 straight weeks of sleep-away camp in…read morenon-air conditioned cabins with no direct parental contact or tech devices allowed) at Camp Champions on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls and before we even left the property, he was asking us to sign up for next year. That right there is a glowing endorsement, folks. As budget-minded, practical parents, it was a tough sell for us at first. This camp, while phenomenal on the surface with a long history of success since 1967 and amenities & growth experiences galore, costs almost an arm & a leg. I'm saying our whole family of 3 could go to Europe for the cost of the 3 weeks for 1 kid here (an hour's drive from Austin). Why would we make the sacrifice and commit to this quite pricey annual tradition? As Brian J mentions in his excellent review, it's the 4 Rs that Camp Champions models in every staff member and enforces every day in all of the campers: Responsibility, Respect, Reasonable Risk, and Reaching out to others. You will never find another summer program with such enthusiastic and caring owners, staff members, teen counselors, and youth participants. Sure, it all looks great on paper, but it's truly fantastic in practice. Participants learn how to: live with 8 other "siblings"; share responsibility for their living space; maintain a caring community; manage conflict; support others in need; self-regulate; appreciate nature; honor elders; step up as a leader; and try something new & challenging every day. Yes, these are all lessons that we teach within our family, but there's nothing like having these kinds of experiences in an environment outside of the group of people who have to love you because you're a blood relative. The maturation that I see in my singleton child each year after the Camp Champions experience is priceless to me. What else? Fun, of course! The property is gigantic, with every kind of summer activity you can imagine, from swimming (lake & pool) to ropes course to skiing to sailing to climbing to archery to horses to go carts to arts/crafts to gaga & pickle ball. You can tour the camp virtually here: http://www.campchampions.com/campers/video-map-tour. There are also the Trojan/Spartan color battles, evening torch lighting, Sunday vespers, and hundreds of other little inside jokes, rituals, and traditions that make campers feel that they are a part of special tribe for the rest of their lives. Parents are kept informed about their child during the camp session via daily photos and owner Steve Baskin's inspiring blog. We also have access to a system where we can send as many emails as we'd like to our campers, but if your child is like mine, you won't be receiving many letters in return. Both years, we've received a measly 2 postcards the entire time -- he was having too much fun to write home! A note on diversity. This is a desirable quality which needs improvement at Camp Champions, and efforts are underway to do just that. During Summer 2016, campers and counselors from 7 different countries were represented, with about 1/3 of my son's cabin speaking a first language other than English. Recently, a foundation was started to help fund scholarships for campers who could not otherwise afford to attend. There's more to do, but I appreciate that the Baskins recognize this issue and are acting to address it.

There are tons of little stacks of rocks, art and other things. It's very calm and peaceful. If we had more time we would have gone up the way but we wanted to see more of the area this time. Parking was easy and next to lots of other businesses. The only downside was the gross bathroom. I wish they'd take more time to make sure they're clean. Otherwise I'll be back again to see more.

I'll bet we ended up staying for at least two hours. The funky and eclectic outdoor art was an unexpected surprise for sure, and it was cool! Love it when cities and towns allow and promote stuff like this. The rocks and water were our main highlight, as we explored and rock-hopped all over the place. Had it been warmer, we would have taken off shoes and waded across to the strip of land in the middle of the river. But the water was freezing and we didn't. :) I've driven by the area when it's warmer / hotter out and it's clearly a popular area for kids of all ages, including teens. The dam and old metal truss bridge add a lot of character to the area. Just a really cool spot overall. There are also a couple of picnic tables and public restrooms (not just port-a-potties) that weren't as filthy as expected. Much to my amazement and satisfaction, I could take my little girl to the men's room and sit her on the toilet without... well, without bailing out completely and finding another toilet! (hahahaha) We'll definitely seek this spot out again.

While the…read morefestival itself had some problems with organization that were completely unrelated to the ranch itself, I enjoyed my experience here quite a lot. There are some beautiful overlooks, a nice quarry lake for cooling off (although who knows how clean the water is, if livestock use it), and an overall great away-from-it-all vibe. I read that they use this ranch for mountain biking and I believe it. The hills are nothing to mess around with. Hiking will require quite a bit of up and down. Also, the dust was baaaaaaad. Come prepared with a mask or bandana if you are at all sensitive to dust. Other than that, it seems like a beautiful spot for recreating in the TX Hill Country.

The staff are nice when you can find them and their facilities are decent considering the rustic, primitive facade it's boasting. A five star rating would require that the 10pm quiet hours were upheld by staff and patrons were held accountable for things such as trash and site cleanup. Both nights spent so was up late listening to awful awful language from campers across the lake till 3am. Loud obnoxious music from all angles and to top it off -- generators. 3am is not a dramatization either. There was a one-wheel festival taking place and it brought along some unsavory and rude mannered patrons. The site I chose was across the lake near the tower in order to avoid the crowds and not hit any "floaters" while biking. My site was littered with garbage and food scraps from whoever was there before I arrived. Otherwise. I had a great time.

This is a update to my first post for Bare Foot Fishing camp and RV Park…read more Two friends and I just spent three days there. We was Upgraded to a very good site by Frank and it was much better then the original one we were going to get. ' We did not ask for a up grade but was offered it. It was really nice. We were PRIMITIVE camping so did not use a shelter or RV part of the camp. ' We had plenty of room to each set up our tents which were all 6 to 8 person each as well as a separate shelter to use as a Cooking/ Storage tent for our food etc. ' Fishing was not very good as we did catch a few keepers but most were in the 6 to 8 inch range. That I think is because the water level in the river i a little low and I think we missed the White Runs up or down the river. There were a Lot of BIG Carp in the area but neither of us care for carp. ' We do plan on going back again. We met some very nice first time campers there. ' The restrooms/showers are very well kept up. They are old but well maintained and MORE then enough VERY HOT water. ' I am including some pictures. I do not know ho many Yelp will let me post but I will post what I think my be appreciated. ' This is a upgrade from my original post as when I did it we had only done a quick drive through to check it out. ' Also we went during the week to avoid the Crowds and weekend party bunch. It was Nice, Peaceful and Quiet. ' If you are to picky and looking for a 5 star resort this is not it. It Is A Fishing Camp and Kayak Camp. Not a resort to go to if you expect all the comforts of home UNLESS you bring your RV. ' It Is Rustic and a great get away. There is NO PHONE or Next to NO CELL or Internet service but they will notify you very fast if they get a Emergency phone call for you and they do have a Emergency Courtesy Phone there. ' I am including pictures of the Ladies rest room / showers as I know that something the ladies all want to know about. Other pictures will be of our cam set up and some I took of the area and the Main Kayak Launch site. ' I recommend IF you are going on a weekend to be sure and make reservations in advance. Holiday Weekends get full really fast and you may end up way out in a primitive camp site if you don't. ' There are 50 Tent sites and some have a metal shelter just in case you need it or want it and others are just like it says,, Primitive, with just a Table and Fire pit. ' You will need to bring your own fire wood if you want a fire as there is NO STORE on the site. The closest is outside at the turn for Barefoot/ State park and San Saba cut off. If you are Military they do offer a Military discount for active, retired etc. Be sure and ask about it. All three of us are retired mil and from Killeen, Temple, and Copperas Cove who went Kayaking there for 3 days and had a great time even though fishing was not so good at the time.
