I can say without a shadow of a doubt this was the best vet experience I have had as a pet owner…read morefor the last 13 years. We took our cat on what was supposed to be a 5 day road trip, that turned into a 7 day road trip. 2400 miles to our new home. After 3 days of travel, Apollo had gotten so stressed being thrown into the car and hotel rooms that he had a urinary blockage. This can be fatal in male cats if not caught early. Luckily we were hyper aware of his litterbox usage because it was in the car and noticed within 24 hours. That morning we took him to Animal Medical Center in Gillette and Dr. Hull was our vet. She was AMAZING. Answered every single question, gave us options, her recommendation and gave the best care to our boy. We took him back to the hotel that afternoon and decided to stay the night to let him chill out. We called Dr. Hull to ask one more question when she OFFERED to come in early the next morning to check him out again before we hit the road. AND comped it. And I think one of the things that stands out SO much, is the 3-5 follow up calls we have received to check on him. We are now about 1,000 miles from Gillette and even knowing that we likely will not return to this vet because we live in the Midwest now, they have STILL repeatedly called to check on our cat. Could not recommend this office enough!! Apollo thanks you Dr. Hull!!

This is a difficult review because there are great upsides to this practice, but the downsides are…read moreunacceptable. And I promise I know because I spent years managing a vet office. The vets are great. Period. Very knowledgeable, and thorough. Great manner with pets, all that good stuff. The staff training could be way better tho. Here is why: I had a cat who developed a form of cancer. There was an experimental treatment but the vets could not locate the medicine online. I did and supplied them with the info to order it (it had to be ordered by a licensed prescriber). Several weeks go by and I call about 2x a week to see if it had come in. Then I wake one morning and it's obvious my fur baby was ready to let go. I call the office and ask for a euthanasia. Now I had always been taught that you never, ever say no to a client wanting to euthanize an elderly or sick pet. If the office is overpacked it doesn't matter, you find the time the same day. It's just the right thing to do because you trust the owner knows when their pet is in pain and suffering. I was told "Sorry we don't have time. We have an appt in a few days tho.". Then the kicker, the unforgivable breakdown in communication: "Why did you not come get your pets meds we ordered? We've had it for 2 weeks.". I didn't have words. I had called and called and was always told "Not yet". They deprived my furbaby a fighting chance with basic incompetence, then rubbed salt in the wound by saying No to an emergency euthanasia and offering to do it after watching my pet suffer for a few days. I ended up having another vet in town come to my home just a few hours later and compassionately put my baby to sleep in the comfort of our home. I wasn't even asking Red Hills to come out, I would have brought my pet into the office. The other vet I chose was so much more compassionate with an animal she had never treated than the staff at RHV. Had I ever said something like that to a client I would have been fired immediately. Had I told a client they had to wait for another day to euthanize; fired. And had my staff in the office failed to inform a client of important meds being available because they couldn't be bothered to get up and go look; double fired. And had the animal suffered or died due to that error?? No words. The vets are gold, truly. But office staff certainly needs better training on in-office communication, as well as client communication.

Pricing is typically quite a bit higher than other places in town and it does feel like they're always pushing for the most expensive options for almost every case regardless of what is going on.

This is a little gem in the middle of nowhere! There is a pet store inside, along with a crazy…read moreclean and loving boarding kennel. There are flat screen animal planet tvs, clean floors, huge outdoor spaces, and fluffy beds for your pet. the store has stocked items you didn't know you were missing until you saw them, like the PetTrek water carrier for your dogs when you hike, camp, etc. We hike the Big Horns frequently and this is a blessing! Two major things: the owner is a vet and the staff is knowledgable. We will be going toDenver in a couple weeks and our two girls will rest well and actually have a great time while we are away. Josie's favorite treats are loofah chews, which we can't find anywhere else, and so when we're at Camelot, we stock up on them. The owner is very friendly and always asks how Josie is doing and wants to know how much she's grown and what kind of personality she has developed. The owner has several chinchillas herself, so it is always fun and interesting to pick her brain about Josie related issues. Also, the store is HUGE! they have everything you could ever need and they are decently priced. There is a fish pond inside and a tiny replica of Camelot near the "stream" that feeds into the fish pond. All the animals are well cared for and loved, even before you take them home, so you know you'll be getting an animal that has been socialized a bit and will have an easier time adapting to you and your home. The store is clean, bright and airy with none of the "pet shop" smell that you generally associate with pet stores. And, even though the store has lots of fish for sale, you can't smell them and all the tanks are clean and crystal clear. They even have cute little bunnies for sale, and having raised rabbits for a long time, I have immense respect for someone who takes such great care of them and provides them with wonderful, fun little cages (rabbits are picky and finnicky) and they always take the time to talk to the animals when they're feeding them, changing the water and bedding and cleaning the cage. I love this place! It's a little out of the way, but it is totally worth it!
