The office staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Love that they get you in right on time for your appointment and the wait times are not long. They even have telepath appointments where you don't have to go to the office, merely FaceTime with the doctor. Dr. Sterk is absolutely AMAZING!! He is so patient and easy to talk to. He's dedicated to his patients and their healing. Dr. Sterk takes the time to listen to his patients and wants them to be healthy. He's worked with me in taking me completely off of my blood pressure meds. And ensuring I'm taking the proper vitamins for bone health, etc. I didn't even know that he's also an Osteopath who can manipulate the spine. I was in for my last appointment and woke up with a bad headache that morning. He took me back to a room that had a chiropractic type chair where he had me lay down and worked on my neck. After his manipulation to my neck, my headache was immediately gone! I absolutely appreciate him as my doctor and know that I'm in good hands with his care! I HIGHLY recommend him! If you look him up he literally has 5 star reviews from all patients! He's THAT awesome. He even does mission work in Guam and treats patients in Guam. https://provider.kareo.com/troy-sterk

I'm terrified of doctors. It's a totally irrational thing, but I hate going to see doctors because I'm afraid they're going to ask me if I exercise regularly & eat healthy & all that jazz, & if I say no (because I don't) they're going to tell me what a horrible person I am. My paranoia is so bad that if the doctor isn't friendly, I get the compulsion to lie & say I do everything right; & even if the doctor IS friendly, I usually get so stressed out that I start crying while I'm there -- for something as basic as a routine exam! This isn't helped by the fact that one doctor I had told me that my sudden onset of knee pain was because I was overweight (by all of 10 pounds...) & there was nothing I could do to relieve the pain other than lose weight, so I should come back & see her again in 6 months. THANKS, BITCH. But I digress. Dr. Perez puts me totally at ease. He talks to me like a friend, & it helps, of course, that he's known my fiance since he was little & he knows my in-laws & asks after them. I've never had a family doctor like this, & after seeing Dr. Perez I deeply regret that. He chats about all sorts of stuff with me while doing the exams (I've seen him for abdominal pain, shoulder injury, common cold, knee pain... bunch of stuff) -- school, work, travel, hobbies -- anything to put me at ease. He's gentle as can be in the physical examinations & when he prescribes me medicine he'll tell me if he knows a pharmacy that carries my rx cheaper than the rest. His staff are great -- Melissa, one of his nurses, is the most adept blood-drawer I've ever met, including Red Cross blood drive attendees. I feel NOTHING when she does it. Seriously, I don't ever want to see another doctor again other than Dr. Perez because I just feel so comfortable & so free to explain my problem & not feel afraid that I'm going to get scolded.

He did not ask questions, did not admit that he hadn't heard of my disease, and kept coming in and out of the room to google my disease on google. And then he argued with me that I was wrong. Meet my doctor, Dr. Stephen Meyer from the Sun Lake Family Practice up in Lutz, Florida. Dr. Meyer…read moreused to be part of a larger medical group located on Linebaugh Avenue in the Carrollwood area, but he moved his practice up north last year to support a base of patients on the north side of Tampa, and I elected to drive the extra 15-20 minutes to stay as his patient. Sun Lake is a part of the same medical family as the former Northwest Family Medical Center on Linebaugh, and so it was quite easy transferring my chart up to the new office. Dr. Meyer is now located in the Sun Lake Professional Center which is north on Dale Mabry, past the northern end of the Veterans, past Calusa Trace, past Cheval......start watching for the cows on both sides of the road.....and there he is on the left in a small professional office complex. Dr. Meyer has been a family practitioner since 1989, and was an Army General Medical Officer in Desert Shield and Desert Storm before that. He is extremely knowledgeable, very personable, and really takes the time to get to know his patients. It's not uncommon to spend an extra few minutes talking about a new exercise program that I can use while traveling, or discussing the medicinal benefits of various types of hot tea, or even the details on that really good restaurant that I discovered last weekend. The mission statement in the examination rooms really says it all, "To provide the most compassionate and best quality care possible for each individual in order to enhance his or her quality of life. This includes not only physical care but also spiritual, mental, and educational support." That really says it all for me, and it explains why I will continue to go out of my way to see Dr. Meyer.

Dr. Meyers retired! Sad time as he was the only person keeping me at this practice because he truly…read morecared for his patients. He just didn't write scripts for unnecessary prescriptions or tests. He took time with each patient and you could truly see his care. Now it's been a little while since I've been as I typically only go for my routine exams for prescription renewals. Keep in mind I've been coming here for years and I've also been on the same meds for longer than I've been coming here. I called a few weeks ago to schedule my routine exam and was told at that time that they'd send a note to the nurse practitioner for my script refills since I booked my appointment. They'd also get my blood work script out to my home address as I'd need to get that done about a week or two before my visit. Today I called because no script received to date and I was notified by my pharmacy that my script refill was denied. Spoke to the receptionist who informed me that the nurse denied my refills because she wanted to see me first. Also informed that she didn't approve my blood work because she needs to meet with me to determine what I actually need. Keep in mind I only have 10 days worth of meds left so irritated I explained that this was absurd. I cannot just simply stop taking my meds for weeks while the nurse determines next steps. I've been on these for years and there's been no change to my health to indicate it's ok to stop taking and even the warning on the meds state to not stop taking unless consultation with a doctor which I've had no consultation or tests to confirm it is ok to stop taking. In looking through my file she noticed that I was coded as a new patient so she explained since that wasn't correct she'd send my file back through to see if she'd approve. Today I just couldn't take it anymore and changed due to my experience. I just had enough and switched to another practitioner. I should not have to deal with the mere stress of this. I mean come on!

Oh wait, wrong metaphor. However, this time, I couldn't have been more wrong. Dr. F's office is like a well oiled machine. I arrived early, but was taken on time. The initial visit is usually a barrage of blood samples, EKG's, blood pressure and other tests. The staff there was extremely professional and friendly. Dr. F himself, is an affable person as well. Taking time to talk to you about any issues you might be experiencing and how to alleviate them, while going through the usual stethoscope and reflex tests. I even waited til after my blood work came back and returned for my follow up two weeks later. He took the time to tell me what all the tests showed. Luckily, all my results were relatively good... Sure, I could stand to lose some weight, but what middle aged man couldn't. All in all, I could not be happier with my new doctor and if you are a little nervous about getting a check-up, Give Dr. Figliola's office a call! BTW... I was in and out of the office in under an hour...both times!

I will NEVER return to this office AND I'm changing doctors!…read more First of all, my annual healthy visit is free and covered by my insurance. The first visit is free but they require that you return for a follow up to discuss your test results. And that's when they get you and charge you. I argued with them telling them that I'm not being examined by the doctor again - it's just to discuss my results from a previous visit ( which is a policy of theirs - no matter the results. They do not mail results or call you). I called my insurance and my insurance told me it's the doctor's policy not the insurance. What a rip off! Second of all, I had a mammogram done and called the office to please make sure they receive my results before my upcoming office. The receptionist told me I need to call them myself! Excuse me? I must do YOUR job for you? You can't from doctor to doctor? Thirdly, I had to remind my doctor that I'm 40 and shouldn't I be scheduled for my first mammogram? I'm sorry, but I have little confidence in a doctor whom I have to remind regarding my health (his specialty)! No more to Dr. Figliola and no more to this office!!! By the way, how about dusting the tall bookshelf by the window!
