Kaizen is a welcoming and inclusive place to learn karate. After researching options in the area I…read morereached out to Matt the owner to ask some questions. He was kind and patient, willing to explain his philosophy in running the dojo, and the expectations for the kids. My son sometimes has trouble focusing, so I've appreciated the way that the kids classes include and integrate younger instructors who turn around and learn to teach others, in addition to working on their own martial arts. The dojo can sometimes be a bit chaotic - especially with younger students - but I really have liked the way that there is a clearly thought out graduated level of difficulty. Younger kids will progress further before getting into kata, but as they get to appropriate age groups, they pause and need to "catch up" to the belt level with the things they weren't ready for before. This can feel "loose" and kind of sloppy at first, when your kid is testing into yellow belt and yet still sometimes lazy or inconsistent at form - at least it did to me - but having spent more time taking my son to classes, I understand a bit more the reason and intent behind operating this way. The kids stay engaged and motivated, and as they get older and learn more, they are still held to the same level. There's no easy path, its just a more motivating journey that's built to be age appropriate.

As somebody who trained in martial arts as a kid and wanted my kids to do the same, we were…read moredelighted to find this family dojo in Windsor. Shihan Matt and Sensei Jack are awesome and the environment is super family friendly while having the strictness and discipline you expect in the martial arts. We love it!!!

Pai Lum White Dragon Martial Arts - Forms practice at camp

Pai Lum White Dragon Martial Arts

Like most martial arts schools, there is plenty of opportunity for friendship and fun. White Dragon…read moreMartial Arts is, however, at heart a very serious school. Students are reminded that anyone can take a few classes of Kung Fu, but taking classes is not the same as studying. The study of Kung Fu truly takes years, even a life-time of devoted study and practice. On the other hand, it doesn't hurt - except for a little - to gain strength and flexibility for one's health and protection, and to gain some familiarity with forms for the sake of self-defense. The classroom is well-lit, large, use of space is economical, a small office sits off from the classroom proper, but with a good line-of-sight to the students. The instructors are "scary-good." I mean that as a compliment: they are knowledgeable, practiced, and committed. Practice comes relatively easy, knowledge takes years, commitment is up to the individual. The instructors do well at motivating, encouraging, correcting, and challenging. White Dragon Martial Arts offers a good start for anyone who wants to get a little exercise, tone their body, improve flexibility, lose fat, gain muscle, but especially and primarily it is ideal for the one who wants to study the science and art of Kung Fu seriously. (I think Greeley's White Dragon opened July or August 2013.)

We really enjoy owner/operator Kevin Beard and his excellent trainers. As beginners, we attend the Beginners classes almost daily at 5:30pm for an hour. It's a great after-work time. We were seeking three goals from training: conditioning, self defense techniques, and an enjoyable/fun environment. We found all three. My wife and I are "senior citizens". We train with a variety of ages, both men and women, and have found that the trainers apply their instruction to our individual capabilities. They apply a very personal touch in a group setting. None of this one size fits all approach. Even though the workouts are strenuous, we look forward to every visit. We are impressed with how we are really getting into shape and working towards getting our weight better under control. We could not be happier with Krav Maga Loveland. Rick & Erin of Berthoud
