Since when does the need for a fair shake and professional navigation become a point of, 'Does this case make me a lot of money?' Mr. Oddie heard the call for help and came to the rescue. His pricing was ultra reasonable ($500) and his knowledge in labor law stumped the expertise of Hasting's free clinic. Hasting's said I had NO case due to California being an At Will State... At the hearing, my ex-employer brought on the heat and the lawyers. Mr. Oddie made them look foolish and complacent. Turns out Mr. Oddie argued that I was finished with work for the day and that taking on another project was a minimal 1.5 hours investment. I work as a field repairman so I would have to drive out to the next location and address the needs of the customer. Mr. Oddie also noted that my ex-company didn't pay me for any time after 5pm and therefore it didn't make sense to start on the next repair job. Without his help, I would have let my ex-company run all over me and get away with corporate theft by falsely firing me, easing their positioning for Lay Offs in the down turn of the economy and get away from paying me my Unemployment Benefits. All of my past co-workers and friends have Mr. Oddie's number and my ex-company had better watch their corporate antics. If you must go through divorce and you are able to avoid court, from what I've seen, mediation is the way to go. My ex husband found Hank. At first I was really pleased with our sessions and the process. However, I tend to say yes too soon and my ex husband tends to begin with "no." This became a big problem for me in the negotiations and I feel like because of that dynamic together with (In my opinion) Hank's acquiescence to my ex husband's dominance in the negotiations I did not get a much of a voice in the process or a satisfactory financial result. I felt let down by Hank. One great thing Hank did do was recommend an awesome financial advisor. I just wish I had met her and had her by my side from the beginning of the process. I recommend everyone get a financial advisor BEFORE even starting mediation. My ex husband got engaged to be married while we were going through mediation. I thought Hank could help with difficulties my children and I were having as a result. I feel absolutely betrayed by the way Hank handled the sessions. I am giving his practice 2 stars because I think there are couples who could have success with his process depending on the dynamic. Taking the notion of getting divorced into a reality was one of the most difficult, painful…read moreexperiences that I've ever had to face. Dividing up a family, after 34 years of relationship/marriage with children in the mix was incredibly daunting. No matter the back story it's a heart breaking endeavor from start to finish. Fortunately we were in the very capable hands of Hank. Neither my husband nor I wanted to hire expensive, litigating lawyers. We wanted to separate our lives in a careful, considerate fashion leaving each one of us with the capability to move forward alone in the best way possible. Hank facilitated this outcome in a very conscious, mindful way. He did not take sides, he was clear, calm and fair. (Just give up on ANY chance of reconciliation with your ex......You'll get all the money in the end, (I prevailed in being able to see my son half the time, but it cost me a house and several jobs), but you'll give up civility.
