I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering Genuine Tree Service…read more
I hired Scott to trim a large limb hanging over my house and remove the top of a dead tree beside my driveway. Before any work started, I clearly explained exactly what I wanted done, and Scott agreed to it and gave me a quote.
When they arrived, they didn't even have the equipment they needed. They had no trailer and ended up borrowing my ladders and rakes to do the job. They worked for less than an hour, trimmed only four small limbs that were touching the roof, piled the brush by the road without hauling it away, and then left, saying they would return Monday to finish.
The biggest issue was that the main limb I hired them to remove--the entire reason I called them--was still there. When I asked Scott about it, instead of honoring what we had agreed on, he argued with me, insisted it didn't need to be removed, and even tried to tell me I never wanted it taken down in the first place. That was simply false. Removing that limb was the primary reason I hired him.
Scott became extremely rude, argumentative, and disrespectful. Rather than having a professional conversation, he talked down to me and acted like I didn't know what I was asking for. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable having him on my property and decided to hire someone else.
I called over the weekend to cancel the remainder of the job and told Scott I was willing to pay for the work that had actually been completed. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he immediately threatened to take me to court for not allowing them to finish. He demanded $400 for less than an hour of work that consisted of trimming four small limbs, borrowing my equipment, leaving the brush piled in my yard, and never completing the work I hired him to do.
When Scott came by Monday to collect the money, he continued to be rude, confrontational, and disrespectful. His attitude throughout the entire experience was completely unprofessional.
I've dealt with a lot of contractors over the years, and this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Mistakes happen, and disagreements happen, but there is no excuse for treating customers with the level of disrespect Scott showed.
If you value professionalism, clear communication, and being treated with respect, I would recommend finding another tree service.
