Poached eggs on a truffled rosti with green hollandaise, apple cider ham hock & herb - Almost crazy with the presentation, but it was quite delicious. * Crispy Pork Belly Burger: Served on brioche, crispy slab of pork belly dressed with saffron aoili, jalapeño pesto and black jack cheese. Absolutely the best burger I've had in quite some time!! I like the crunchy texture that meets with super tender meat. It slowly melts in my mouth. In all, we always have an enjoyable brunch at Three Bags Full, the food and coffee are undisputedly pleasing. Wow Just WOW I usually don't review places after I've been there just one time, but I'm keen to make an exception for this one. Went there for a birthday party 4 to 6pm. The place is clean and tidy, with room enough to easily maneuver a pram around. Ordered drinks and food. About drinks, they offer a broad range of them and probably the cheapest (but still great) Spriz I was able to find in Melbourne - and given I was born in Venice and there Spriz are 2€/pint, this is particularly relevant to me. No signage so you have to know you're going to the old hat factory. It's actually very charming inside and the staff is very warm and friendly. I had the big breakfast and it was excellent. One of the men had the French toast which is a foodies delight! We all had to share a bite and it was phenomenal. The pancakes were also shared with poached apples and it too was a foodies delight. The chorizo and eggs from hell, we're not really that spicy and the gentleman that ordered those had to ask for two additional hot sauce. But then again he is from California and likes it spicy. Came to Three Bags Full on a perfect Melbourne sunny Saturday afternoon to meet a friend. The vibe was very energetic and the place was pretty much full outside and luckily some spare spots inside. Staff were very attentive and my Soy latte was perfect. My eggs Benedict with extra bacon was tasty with a luscious Benedict sauce. Lots of spunky people and (here I go again...) EYE CANDY! The only unruly part of my experience was trying to operate the female/disabled toilet door! It is electronically operated and many ladies were having problems manoeuvring it. Sunday morning brunch this week was at three bags full located in an old looking almost post office like or heritage building. Very inconspicuous. What gives it away are obviously tables and chairs with patrons drinking coffee. Once you enter, you see how large it is with two entrances partitioned by a partial wall. Baristas appear to be making coffee on both sides and I believe you can pay your bill and buy little raw vegan snacks such as cake slices or bliss balls from the counter on both sides too. The place was buzzing when we arrived and though we were told a fifteen minute wait when we arrived at 10.15, I didn't have to wait more than five minutes. We were initially seated on a long table as we were a group of three but one friend overslept and didn't show up so we were later moved to a smaller table after having made our coffee and food orders. This resulted in some confusion with three waiters asking us if we wanted to order food and coffee. I have a feeling this also delayed the arrival of our coffees and food. My friend ordered a cold brew. I ordered a skim cap extra hot with their own house blend. I think its called mister blazer. Can't remember and after drinking the coffee I would like to forget it. The prices for coffee are not on the menu but white coffees cost 3.90 and only come in one size. No mugs of coffee on a cold wintry day. Negative. :( Both our coffees tasted acidic, bitter and sour. I had to return mine because it left a foul taste in my mouth. The waitress was nice enough to replace my coffee it wasn't extra hot tasted slightly creamy but was still awful. Don't think I like their blend. We ordered the spicy chorizo with grilled polenta and the haloumi pide. The spicy chorizo was well salted and has a nice kick to it. The grilled polenta was nice and buttery/oily and delicious. The haloumi pide was disappointing I was expecting a Turkish style pide - so folded pizza with stuffed haloumi, grilled zucchini, tomato slices, pesto and avocado. What we got was dry floury ciabatta bread with two large slabs of haloumi grilled zucchini tomato slices guacamole. Very bland and very disappointing. We barely touched it. Other than that - the cafe has an expansive menu with lots of interesting options such as savoury French toast, brat pide, salads, etc. There's a variety of coffee blends you can choose from. I have not been to 3 bags for a while, as I found the meals to be a little heavy for my liking. Today was an exception to that. I started the morning with a coffee (long black with a little cold milk). The coffee was prompt and delicious, as we have come to expect from even McDonalds it seems these days. There is just no excuse for a poor coffee, and none was needed. For breakfast I had Green Eggs and Ham. Aside from bringing up a multitude of childhood memories, and an onslaught of Dr. Suess jokes, the meal was delicious. It was accompanied by salted feeta and some peas in there for good measure. The portion size was well endowed, but was light enough to enjoy almost entirely. (I had to share with others on the table) I will say that after this meal, I will begin to head back to Three Bags Full on occasion. The cafe has an industrial, artistic vibe, think street sign covered stools and bright yellow pepper grinders, fresh flowers and metal furnishings. Expect to be seated at the communal table, with other diners or propped pretty much anywhere there is a seat. Despite the chaos and bustle service is friendly and fast. They take their coffee seriously here. Five Senses provide them with flawlessly roasted beans from all over the world which they brew on site, which results in a rich aroma and strong and delicious coffee. It stands out, and in Melbourne's world class coffee environment, that is not to be taken lightly. The food is inspired. Breakfast classics rub noses with inspired sweet treats. The blackened ginger bread is different and dangerously addictive and the ricotta hot cakes are delicious and surprisingly filling. The big breakfast does as advertised and the feta scramble is sooo good. But really, anything off the menu is fantastic, so order with the knowledge that you will be back again anyway! The apple, pear, lime and mint juice may be expensive ($6 a glass) but it is fresh, delicious and filling. It makes you feel healthy, which is no mean feat after a huge breakfast! The easiness of brunch, a convivial air of tables 'rhubarbing' in unison, it's buzzing, engaged in action. I like Three Bags Full for these reasons, and I love it for the principle of simplicity it holds itself to. Breakfast is all variations on the egg/bacon/sides theme, and the corn fritters are top shelf. White beans are mild and smokey (add an egg, or bacon, or both); the coffee is proper. Best described as a 'cherubian': a little fat bottomed blend, wispy haired créma, fleeting, kinda cross-eyed. Buy some of the Granola, it's amazing. I first reviewed Three Bags Full in 2012, but while the business still exists it's completely different today than it was then. New owners and completely different menu/vibe. This is one of those 3.5 star kind of experiences. Good cafe fare, decent but not amazing coffee (5 Senses) and friendly service. The fit out is a bit cold and it's not the kind of place I'd want to settle into for a long chat and a few coffees - but for a lunch break it was decent. I used to be obsessed with the pumpkin fritters here. Today I had the zucchini and ricotta fritters and they were ok. My dining counterparts had steak sandwiches. They passed the test for eatability (I.e the whole steak didn't fall out in the first bite!) but they have it about a 3 stars too. Three bags full is super popular but I just don't really understand the hype. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but not as amazing as everyone seems to think (in my opinion). It's about the same sort of standard as many other Melbourne breakfasts. You can have your avocado smash, your granola, scrambled eggs etc. Its all pretty good, not outstanding, but definitely more expensive than other places. I've been there many times and always thought it was pretty good and then been kind of surprised by the price and always left wondering why people queue for so long to pay more for something which is just pretty good. The ambiance is great, the staff are lovely & the fit out is really cool! You should try it for yourself because it is good, but avoid the weekend peak hour (or be ready to wait) and prepare yourself to pay a bit more money than usual. I should add that I stand almost alone in this opinion- most of my friends LOVE it and would wait for days and pay anything for it! read more

I wandered into Three Bags Full straight after they opened on a Sunday morning, so I can't really speak for the waiting times but can see how it could get very busy! The coffee is top notch and the food fantastic. I had the smashed avocado with fetta, radish and black sesame which hit the spot and was a great start to the morning. I can't decide whether the cafe is big or small, as there are a middle-sized amount of tables but the space is quite airy and warm, so much so I barely noticed people sitting nearby on the communal table. Definitely a 5 star cafe! (Edit: I returned to Three Bags Full a couple of weeks later and found out they have a whole other room full of tables, so yes this cafe is on the bigger side. Housed within painted brick walls you will find a crack team of professionals servicing primarily hipsters but they seemingly never segregate against us city dwellers let alone the fashionable members from the South. Amusing local art hangs from the whitewashed walls whilst simple beats play from the speakers which are not offensive but actually add to the ambiance whilst hounds bark and babies cry. It only took ten minutes to secure a communal table. I had not enjoyed a communal table since attending the Hardware Societe, but it gave us an opportunity to blend into the restaurant: one that did not require us to evoke the ghost of Eddie Maguire or even the bet that I lost on the Magpies two years ago with the locals to be able to fit in - we were able to fit in by default. I ordered the special - Buckwheat crepes with pulled braised lamb shoulder, poached eggs with mushrooms and a mint yoghurt. It seemed like a bold call for a breakfast but it sounded so bold and tasty. I was not disappointed. Oddly everyone else at the communal table also received their respective dishes at the same time that we did and all I could notice was how colourful and appetising that everything looked. After I invaded my poached eggs with my clean fork and watched them bleed over my crepes, consuming the mushrooms with their faux sunshine I knew that I was in for a treat. Matched with the harsh black long black coffee, I knew that my journey by train was worth it. The service was very efficient and knowing that the other offerings on the menu were very attractive if not tasty judging from what the others at the communal table were saying, I am upset at myself for not attending to Three Bags Full sooner. Sadly my aversion from the train kept me away but that will not be the case in the future when I want to enjoy a breakfast. Hell, I could walk there and it would be worth the sweat. Although The Hardware Societe and Chez Dre remain close to my heart when I think of places that I can enjoy a Sunday breakfast before the Cricket, Three Bags Full shines through because of the awesome food, coffee and service. Still knowing that all three are on offer on rotation, regardless if the Cricket is on, make me a happy guy - and I am not even a bloke that enjoys breakfast. I went to training for a new job around here and was lucky enough that it was only right across the street from Three Bags Full! I had the chance to savour their amazing food two days in a row. Ambiance: This cafe is quite decently big so even though it's busy, it's still quite spacious. There's also outside seating as well. Customer Service: It's difficult to poke any holes in the customer service quality. Everyone who has served me has been very kind, courteous, and friendly. Even though this place gets busy and hectic quite often, you never feel rushed or anything like that. Food: The meals at Three Bags Full, as you can tell by other reviews, is quite unanimously delicious! For something a bit cheaper, I recommend some Turkish Pites during lunch. I've tried both the Bocconcini and Roasted Chicken and they were both soft, flavourful, and within my budget. And for the coffee fanatics out there, Three Bags Full can serve up a kickass brew without a doubt. --- You just cannot go wrong with Three Bags Full. The decor is fresh and the service a good, delicate balance. Staff don't hover but are friendly and fun, highlights include on my various visits impromptu kitchen discos to 80's classics. The only concern is that it is sometimes a little too loud to converse inside (the current concrete floor trend). This cafe ticked most boxes of what I am looking for in a great cafe! The coffee was fabulous! And arrived promptly! Although there was a half hour wait on food it was utterly delicious. We had the 'savoury' french toast with Chorizo and avocado on the side. Also the corn fritters with beetroot cured salmon that was divine! The style of the place is great- it is massive and they use awesome recyclable furniture that I found out was designed by the previous owner. Pretty darn cool and comfortable for stools! My only gripe was the haphazard service, and this stopped it from being a 5-starrer. Don't get me wrong the staff were very friendly, from the door, to seating us, to apologising for waits etc. However it seems disorganised. I also really think the staff should be in sections. We were seated with a 'we'll be back to take your coffee order' to no avail. Then coffee orders taken but not food, and every time it was a different person. You might have to wait briefly on the weekend but the wait for a table is well worth it! The cafe has large communal tables as well as a range of individual tables both inside and out. The coffee is amazing - always worth a second after your food. The menu doesn't change too much which is just how i like it because the choices are so devine i wouldn't want them to disappear. The Bags Full is wonderfully decorated with gorgeous cups as light features, long wooden tables and cute window seats to spy on the world. There is a lot of space which is a huge plus, it means that everyone gets a seat when it's breakfast time. The coffees were great. Food wise we got the chilli scrambled eggs, the big breakfast and the savoury french toast. They were all equally amazing. The chilli jam used in the eggs were absolutely dreamy. Service was also outstanding. If you want a place to catch up with friends or do some work on your computer while savouring good food, this is a place to go. Had a flat white and poached eggs with avocado mash. Coffee was smooth and not too bitter. Eggs were cooked to perfection, and avo mash was nice but needed a little bit more salt read more
