When on holiday with first our baby we'd go in everyday, they'd warm his milk up and we'd indulge in a banana split or a huge sundae. It's a great place and the kids love it. They do sell other things than ice cream, hot drinks, milkshakes, cakes etc so it can cater for anybody for a rest or a snack. The decor, when we last went, was ok and it was clean enough. I would have liked to been able to sit on a high stool at the bar like you can in American places. Every time we go I always think I'd like to open one myself. Don't think it would be as popular in Leicester though, sadly. Give it a go, even if you don't like ice cream.

They are extremely family-friendly, and encourage the children to get 'up close and personal' with the whole process. You can also watch a film on the history and making of chocolate in the cinema. In peak season they also have a Chocolate Fountain room, where you can buy 'kebabs' made of fruit, marshmallow or donuts and dunk them in the chocolate, along with a chocolate shop where you can purchase their own products and a separate shop for sweets and fudge. The only thing you need to bring is an empty stomach and possibly a sick bag for the journey home!

The shop stocks homemade and prepacked sandwiches, pastries, cakes and sausage rolls. All of these are hand made by the bakers in the morning and if you ask they will heat them up for you. The cakes are normally quite traditional with old favorites such as crumbles and swiss rolls. These come packaged up so you can keep them fresh at home for a few days. The staff are always friendly and the prices are very resonably for such good quality produce.

A week's holiday in St Davids means at least seven opportunities to visit the city centre (for St Davids is officially a city - the smallest City in the UK in fact) and slurp on delicious creamy home made ice cream in a number of fabulously fun flavours. This summer I tried...Pembrokeshire Promise, Celtic Crunch, Raspberry Cheesecake, Salted Caramel, Toffee Popcorn, Rhubarb Crumble, Marscapone and Fig, M&M, Snickers, Oreo. I didn't eat all of these by myself you understand. But I did delve happily into my son's and my missus's every time they tentatively asked if I wanted a bit. They will never learn. None of the above disappointed apart from the bubble gum flavour which I couldn't get my head round but the boy loved. If you have a flavour on your mind which isn't on the extensive list, give them 24 hours and they will make it up for you! Plucking up the courage to ask them to knock me up an Ambrosia rice pudding flavour next time I'm there. One large scoop in one of those proper brittle cones for me. But you can get a double scoop or get it in a small tub. The one scoop is plenty and comes to £2.60 which rates as a bargain for this delicious stuff. There is always a queue, whatever time of day, whatever type of weather - and the weather is variable in St davids. It's fun standing in a queue with other eager beavers as the rain pelts down. Almost as much fun as sitting on the nearby benches in the belting sun with your prize and watching the surfers and the oldie coach parties go by. Said queue goes down very quickly though with expert service. St David's wouldn't be quite the same without Gianni's.
