I have never had issues in Gainesville with my seeing-eye dog entering any local establishment, from places as banal as Publix, post offices, and other restaurants (fastfood to gourmet) to institutions as formal and manicured as the Harn Museum of Art, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, the Phillips Center of the Performing Arts, Smather's Library West, and the University of Florida Auditorium. Talking Walls ridiculously claimed they have "valuable works of art" and could not allow the dog to enter; Talking Walls of Gainesville must have some art the Getty Museum would envy, seeing that even the Getty in LA allows Fyshstyx to enter. The owner (or potentially worker) of Talking Walls had no basis to bar my entry, especially since 1) I AM ALLOWED BY LAW, 2) Fyshstyx was behaving perfectly, and 3) I explained the Americans with Disabilities Act laws under Title II and III that disallow a prohibition of necessary, trained, mobility assistance service animals from publicly accessible places of business (see more info on these laws below). The owners still would not let me enter their stores. I have filed a complaint with our local City of Gainesville Office of Equity & Inclusion and the Florida Division of Blind Services. I don't know if any Gainesvillians frequent this establishment, but know that they ardently wish to flout ADA regulations and disallow entry to the handicapped even when presented with the Federal legal codes. Talking Walls, please follow the link below to familiarize yourself with the Federal Laws pertaining to the proper, handicapped-friendly running of your businesses. https://www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm

I wanted to leave this as a comment for customer service at Michael's-at-large, but they don't seem…read moreto have a place on their site to do that. So here it is. So, the last time I ordered stuff from this Michael's, they didnt put everything I got with my order, and also included stuff I didn't order (wtf?). I decide to go in-person. Michael's has decided to go the way of stores like Winn-Dixie and Wal-Mart. They'v fired most of the employees. The employees that do work there are underqualified and cannot answer questions adequately, and simply- there are not enough employees working at the store period. I think there was one guy there manning the four front registers. No one actually seen working today in any other department. The four aforementioned registers are now touch screen computers- which are not-at-all intuitive. They begin by asking you numerous annoying questions about giving up your personal information so the company can pester and track you. Then, you notice in horror there is a camera now zeroed in on your face the entire time you are checking out, which is dystopian and makes you feel claustrophobic. It made me feel like the store thinks of me as a criminal. Finally, it was really tough to figure out where to pay- like three different places in the pay area looked like they could have been where you put your card. The whole thing was extremely tedious, depressing and invasive.. as well as deeply dehumanizing. Also whatever happened to customer service- oh wait, it was only ever all about getting our money. I won't be back to Michael's.

In the growing age of quick & convenient, specialty shops that sell a certain type of product are…read moresometimes hard to find. When you do find one, you might also worry about price, inventory, and even service. Harmon's came through in a pinch and, while perhaps not the absolute most affordable option compared to eCommerce, was a great experience that will have them top of mind in the future The Space A bit out of the way in a business cul-de-sac on South 34th St., I found an ample amount of parking and a fairly large storefront when walking into the building. More than likely you might feel a little uncertain when driving to them because of the hidden location but the inventory volume alone made it clear someone knows what they are doing in the shop. Everything appeared to be organized despite the ample stock, but thankfully I knew what I needed prior to coming in and had no need to wade through the sea of accessories. The Service As mentioned, I was hurrying to find a frame that could support a backdrop I wanted installed during an event (shoutout to anyone who came to said get-down). I had an order that got caught in the ruckus of holiday shipping, so that left me scrambling between astronomical overnight shipping or finding something locally. Harmon's came up with a quick search and, with fear of closure for the holidays, I decided to call. The man on the other end picked up and was immediately helpful in breaking down the options he could think of right then and there, such that I was already confident about driving right over to inspect the choices. When I arrived he already had the best option opened up to look at and ran down the pricing so I could make an informed decision. I was able to test it out right in the store, get help with set up, and walk away totally confident in a purchase. Final Thoughts The price was more affordable than going to a 3rd-party for overnight express shipping for sure, but I can't say they have the absolute most affordable options compared to items I was looking at that just couldn't ship fast enough. That said, supporting local was effortless and they really did make my event a splash. Give 'em a try if you need photo equipment in the 352!
