History

Established in 1928.

Thorne Insurance has been a family-owned and operated business since 1928 and is currently in the fourth generation of ownership. Benjamin H. Thorne founded Thorne Insurance in 1928. At the time, Thorne was quite the mobile agency! Powered by two horses and a humble buggy, Ben initially offered just life insurance but later expanded his product line in the 1940s to include property and casualty lines. He continued to own the agency and write insurance until 1957. William Thorne and Rex Thorne also joined the family legacy, and in 1999, Kevin Killen became the fourth generation to join Thorne Insurance Agency. He is the current president and owner. Jason Dawes then joined the agency in May of 2007 on a summer internship. He later became co-owner in 2015. Under their combined leadership, Thorne has experienced substantial growth through five agency acquisitions and a growing dedicated staff of employees.
