We've bought 1 window AC unit and today we had a GE washing machine delivered. We bought the GE for a song because it was a floor model. I really have nothing but good things to say about this place. The floor staff was very knowledgeable, too. While they keep little to no stock on the premises, they had our stuff ready for pick up or delivery with a business day or two. If you're not in a hurry to get something, then you can probably get a good deal on whatever you're looking for here. We will return a third time once we replace our refridgerator. Memorial weekend was a great weekend to up grade a few of our appliances. We have shopped at Thornberry's several times and have never been disappointed. We went in and talked to Steve! He was so knowledgeable and very nice. He really knew a lot about all their products. We went in to just look around but we ended up leaving with a new Dryer, Oven & Refrigerator. My child was recently diagnosed very sick with something not covid related and put on an immunosuppressive drug making him medically fragile. We are boy in the bubbling it, things being delivered to our back porch so we don't expose him to anything. Then our microwave died. An inside corner blackened and crumbling. I'm a single mom, with a kid I can't take outside and I panicked. Amazon couldn't deliver until May, and Best Buy and Target only offered curbside, and as a single mom of a disabled child that can't be left alone I didn't have a lot of options. My sister said to try this place she'd used and liked. I went to the website and found something reasonably priced with express delivery in the description, and at the delivery screen it still had today available! It was 1 PM. So I explained our situation in the delivery notes and crossed my fingers. A little while later they called to say the microwave I picked was out of stock. :( But they had a slightly newer version, and there was a floor model in good condition I could have at a discount. Perfect! He sent me pictures since I couldn't be there in person. It was exactly what I needed. Then he said if I waited until close, he would drive it over himself and place it on my back porch. I arranged a tip and he wouldn't even take it. He said he just wanted to be able to do some good at this time. I'm so incredibly grateful for that extra care. The microwave is now moved inside, set up, and plugged in. Works a charm. I will use Thornberry's for my appliance purchases from now on. read more

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible experience. Recently went to order to new dishwasher (with measurements I took). Salesmen assured us there was no need for measurements and we ordered a dishwasher. Upon delivery, the installer informs us the dishwashwer won't fit. We then have to order another dishwasher, which, upon installation, includes a six-inch gap between the bottom of the dishwasher and the floor. We called the store and the Owner eventually tells me to send him a picture, which we do. No response from the owner. I emailed him to follow up. Still no response. Finally, we call the store and the Owner tells us there's nothing he can do. Salesmen was wrong, the installer was the worst we've ever had in 25 years of home ownership, and the Owner could care less about everything. I'd rather do dishes in the sink then deal with this business again. read more

Our refrigerator was dying so instead of repairing we purchased a new whirlpool side by side in August. When I wanted to see the filter that needed replacement, the little plastic latch that pulls it out is broken. Since the filter has never been pulled out before, we can only assume it was broken before delivery. When I called the store I was told no service offered and no one could tell me how to remove filter. They did give me the manufacturers number and the wait just to talk was 45 minutes. We feel Thornberrys should have taken responsibility for the damage. A little pissed off. read more

We needed a new gas grill to replace our 20 year old DCS. I ordered a Summit Grill Center directly from Weber without being able to actually see and touch it. We found Thornberry's, an authorized dealer, and decided to see the grill. The sales person was very knowledgeable and told us the grill was available in the warehouse. We decided to buy local and cancelled the Weber order. Delivery was scheduled 3 days out. Unfortunately, I could not get my electrician and plumber out to disconnect the existing grill. In fact I had to reschedule the delivery of the new grill three times. Finally, we were able to get the grill delivered and assembled. It took two men about 90 minutes to assemble. During the entire process Thornberry's was very flexible and accommodating since I had to reschedule delivery multiple times. Also, assembly was a real plus compared to purchasing from Weber (I would have to do the assembly) and they took away all of the packing materials. I prefer to buy local whenever I can and the decision to purchase the grill from Thornberry's was a easy decision. We are so happy with the results and highly recommend them. read more

When my whirlpool dryer was delivered it was brought to my attention that is was damaged. The driver gave me the option of excepting it with a discount check to be mailed to me, or wait for another delivery of an undamaged dryer. I excepted the delivery and terms because the damage was superficial only, but still damaged.Four weeks later I have not received a check, even when a letter was written to them about my agreement and disappointment. My mistake was taking the drivers word and not asking for the amount of refund in writing on an invoice which I also did not received. read more

Oh heyyyyyyy Thornberry's, haven't seen you for a while! That is, until yesterday. Went back to Thornberry's with my grandparents for the first time in a while, and let me tell you, I missed it. Although I live a good distance away, my Bubby and PopPop live just down the block, and really needed to update their kitchen appliances. Although we could have gone to BestBuy, we went to Thornberry's for the customer service, the nice people, and the friendly atmosphere. Sure you can usually get a better price at the big department stores, but there's value in being treated warmly at the door. There's value in having a seasoned appliance professional tell you about the products on the market rather than some 17 year old high school kid who's only working at BestBuy to get a discount on a new CD. Go to BestBuy if all you care about is price. Go to Thornberry's if you care about customer service, a knowledgeable staff, and a friendly atmosphere. For realsies. read more

I bought a new refrigerator from Thornberry's on a Thursday. It was delivered Saturday-two days later. That afternoon I looked it up on line in their ad and found that the price had been reduced $100. I called the store and was told "prices change all the time". Any big box store would have given a 30 day price guarantee but with this Mom and Pop when you are out the door you are also out of luck. I'm not really sure what's going on here, but I wrote a sparkling, and much deserved, review for Thornberry's and it was removed. I noticed that there are 6 removed reviews in total (5 5-star and 1 2-star) and the only one that seems to stick is the awful, and seemingly exaggerated, review that is on the Thornberry's Yelp page. I think it's a shame that this company is not getting the credit it that it deserves and that one poor review is the sole voice it has on Yelp. What's up with that? read more

Never Again! Rude and Condescending sums up the treatment we received when we went to purchase wall air conditioners for our condo. We had the make and model of the units we wanted and that's when it began. We were spoken to as if we were stupid. We were told twice the Frigidaire air conditioners were "cheap" and "cheaper" than the GE even after we said we were not interested in purchasing another GE because we were not happy with the GE we currently have installed. Then we were told the condo association would not allow us to install these unit because it would require a new sleeve. This was not true as several neighbors have Frigidaire air conditioners and even board members who purchased them and had them installed through Thornberry's. Again we mentioned we were not interested in another GE and again were told the Frigidaire were "cheap" and "louder". After a few more minutes of being pushed to purchase a higher priced GE we walked out without a purchase. Big mistake on Thornberry's part as we are renovating our condo and planned on purchasing our kitchen appliances from them as well as our neighbor who was interested in purchasing the same air conditioners. You lost out on several sales and we will not be returning. As an FYI one of the neighbors told me afterwards they purchased and had a unit purchased from Thornberry's and the install was done incorrectly and caused damage to their wall. I am sure Frigidaire would love to know how Thornberry's talks about their product line. I would recommend you run from Thornberry's and go to a retailer who values their customers and treats them with respect! read more

I called Thornberry's on December 16th to see if I could have a new stove delivered before Christmas Eve as my oven door was broken. They said they could deliver it on the 22nd. They in fact delivered and it was installed. The delivery guy said to turn on the oven for 30 minutes to burn off so my food would not pickup any odor. After they left I turned on the oven and the house filled up with gas and the oven ignited with a bang. I immediately called NJ Natural Gas and they sent out an emergency service call. The technician said the stove had a delayed igniter and I could not use the oven. They also spoke to Steve at Thornberry and told him I could not use the oven. I was then told that he would replace it the following Saturday the 29th. Needless to say i was with out an oven on Christmas Eve when I had 40 guest coming. When I came home from work on the 28th I called to see if it was going to be delivered the next day and was told that it didn't come in and it would be delivered on Monday the 31st. New Years Eve.I was extremely upset because we are going out on New Years Eve. I don't know what his position is with Thornberry but Steve ( at least that's what he told me his name was) was very rude and told me I was f-----g out of my mind and he did what he was supposed to do by delivering it before Christmas. He said he was not the manufacturer and it was Whirlpools problem not his. He spoke so poorly to me that I put my son in law on the phone. He spoke differently to him. I was also already billed on my Amex so I am disputing the charge with them. I am also filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I will never purchase another thing from them. This was the WORST Experience we ever had buying an appliance from This store. I don't no where to begin or how to explain this terrible experience. We unfortunately purchased this very high end appliance from them and took out the extended warranty .We only had the unit less than one year when it started giving us mechanical problems. When I called the store to initially tell them about my problem they first made me wait over 2 weeks before they even would send a workman over to our home to look at it. This workman was not licensed to work on this item and DID NOT HAVE A CLUE of what was wrong with this item. He pulled this unit out from my home leaving us without this appliance for over a month and a large gapping hole in my kitchen. I called several times and they still had not fixed it. Each time I would call the store to find out the status of my appliance and each time the people that answered my calls were rude and very unresponsive to our problem. It could have been the receptionist answering our calls or just a salesman and they would be RUDE and NOT HELPFUL. One time a saleman said over the phone (when I had called about the status of my appliance) that this was not his sale and he did not care about this problem and hung up on me.It was very very upsetting to call them about my status and almost impossible to reach the owner. They finally gave back this unit after almost 6 weeks of trying to fix it in there store. When it came back it still would occasionally give us the same problem.So, when I called again and finally got the owner he said he would speak to the company that made it and get back to us. After 2 to 3 weeks we never heard anything back from him. We called the owner again at Thornberry's and he was not available for our call and of course he never called us back. We tried a few more calls but not successful ! I guess it is safe to say that after 6 months I doubt he will call us back to let us know the status of our unit to be fixed I am sure this appliance was never fixed properly and they never had a real licensed technician fix it. We gave up because I would become very stressed each time I would call them and the way we were treated over the phone. This company is THE WORST !!! They say they are 4th generation but I would be shocked if they stay in business for another month. Once you buy an item from them you will become HISTORY. Only if you are purchasing from them will they help you.If you need anything to be fixed on an appliance after the purchase then be ready for a BIG FIGHT !!! it doesn't seem to matter if you have a warranty or no warranty. We had all the extended warranties and they still cannot seem to fix it and don't send it anywhere properly to have it repaired. Since this bad experience we needed to purchase more appliances for our kitchen and we recently purchased them from another local store near them . They had better prices, excellent sales help and told us who there Licensed Representative is who services there store if your item should go on the blink. I am very sorry to say this bad review about anyone or any company because I try to be reasonable person and easy to work with but this time I feel that they were Very ,VERY RUDE, Non Caring, POOR SERVICE and in the end THEY NEVER FIXED OUR APPLIANCE PROPERLY. Better prices than the Big companies that sell appliances. The Service part is where I had the problem. Do not take out extended warranty with them. I bought a 2500 refrigerator took out a 5 year warranty. There was a problem with the door hinge. It was such a nightmare to get a person to my house. Miserable people - miserable service. I made a purchase on 3/9, for a $2500 in-cabinet microwave and a $500 gas cooktop which ultimately got delivered and installed end of April. I bought from them because they were local and had good reviews. Upon delivery (about $350 dollars) the cook top didn't fit, so another person came to install who cut my granite, but cut it too wide where the gas cooktop now moves by about 3 inches. Microwave also had an issue as the fan would continue to run and not stop. Ultimately GE came in to service the microwave and I had a replacement (good outcome) but 3 months and multiple phone calls later, the cooktop issue is still unresolved. Each time, I had to initiate the call, and not once did I receive a call back. There's no follow up as they simply don't care about their customer. I've spoke to Steve and Jane repeatedly. Jane's nice on the phone, however Steve is simply rude and likes to cut you off so he doesn't have to hear about the terrible service his company has provided. As of now, I'm promised a call back in two days with a scheduled date - let's see if that happens, however no matter of the outcome my experience with this company stinks and I could never recommend anyone or purchase here again. read more

I visited Thornberry's Appliances to replace an igniter for my Weber BBQ on a Sunday 9/18/16 at 3:55 pm. The main entrance door was locked. The store hours indicated 12:00 -5:00. I knocked on the door when a man with red hair and a beard said I should have used the other door. "Which said service entrance". When he unlocked the door he turned his back to me and didn't even ask if i needed help. I then showed him the part that I needed and he didn't know what it was. So I asked him if he could steer me in the right direction to obtain the part I needed and he suggested I go on Amazon. He was rude and uncooperative. i will never buy from this store, ever! read more

My cousin told me about her good experience with Thornberry's Appliance so I decided to check them out for myself. My home was flooded from Sandy. I needed all new appliances My salesperson was very caring, very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time with me. After the Sandy devastation , I really needed to be able to sit down and talk with someone who could evaluate my needs with regard to each appliance I needed to replace. I would not have gotten this kind of attention at the big box stores. Thornberry's traeted me like family and helped me choose the right products at the best prices. The delivery guy came and hauled out all my old, Sandy damaged appliances and replaced them with new. Thornberry's were such a big part in helping me with my disaster recovery. My wife and I bought many appliances from Thornberry, but that road has come to an end. We bought a washing machine from them but the salesman was not friendly at all. It was like we were bothering him. Delivery came, the delivery guy went through the house to the laundry room to see where the new washing machine was to be placed. He went back outside and before I can get two words out, he slid my heavy park bench right across my recently refinished wood porch, across the planks. Then came time for the new machine, why do they bring in the new appliance before they take out the old one? Does not make any sense to me, especially when the area where the new one is going is tight, now they have to maneuver the old one around the new one. I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but doesn't it make more sense to take out the old one first? Okay, next, free set up....oh boy...hooked up the discharge hose, the hot and cold water, and plugged it in, shook the machine, adjusted one of the feet, the other guy shook the machine and said, "Not going anywhere"...ha, ha, want to bet? My wife read the directions and started to do a load of laundry. Next thing I know, she's holding the machine back after moving two feet away from it's place, the plug wire and discharge hose were stretched out. I looked at the installation sheet and it said to level the machine so it's not unbalanced, they never did that. I took out my level and did their job for them, so who pays me? Last thing, I saw the exact machine in another appliance store with all the same services, removal, delivery, set up for $200 less. I bought a big flat screen TV from this other appliance store and everything went great. So, good-bye Thornberry, it's been real. read more

Terrible service bought entire kitchen appliance setup in 2015. Had issues from the start with scratched stainless panels on stove. When contacted they ordered new piece which took 3-4 weeks to arrive and was shipped directly to me. When I called they said it was done that way so I can install it. I'm mechanically inclined but after $4000+ spent I shouldn't have to. After a few months my ice maker stops working in French door fridge... call as I bought service plan and they send a company out to look at it and guy states he doesn't work on these fridges but still Lois and forces the auger to turn freeing the frozen ice but doing other damage. Unit works for short period of time (3 weeks) and I call again and ask for different service company. The. Send new company who writes up multiple parts and sends back to thorn Berry's for approval takes almost a month just for approval. Few months go by same issue again repairs are made again not as serious. Then January of this year after tolerating it being Inop again I call for service they have tech call me who over the phone says I don't work on those units. So I call Jane back and was told they will have someone else contact me so a service appt was setup for February 5th technician comes out states there is an updated kit from Frigidaire to resolve this ongoing issue. He submits parts order to thornberrys the following day. Here we are march 29 after third call to thronberrys they still have yet to authorize parts. They were quick to offer a cash deal and take my money but customer service sucks.... I've been without fully functioning appliance now for several months. Terrible and dishonest... we hired them to build our bathroom on the condition that they could be done by a certain date because we were due to have a baby... they were over two months delayed.... they never showed up as planned or as promised and they could not keep track of invoices... we paid a $5,000 invoice that they "lost"! Also, we were in such a rush that we deliberately ordered cabinets we were not crazy about because they said they were in stock ... they were not in stock and were on back order... Also, their plumber missed a whole week of work because of the "snow" even though he was working exclusively indoors and no roads/ schools or anything else was closed. We moved back to California 2 years ago and I am still mad enough at them to write this review... that should tell you something about the crappy service and dishonesty you can except from this merchant... read more

We had a similar experience with Thornberry's. I purchased a fridge, dishwasher and range and got a good package deal. We were pleased with the price and got 12 mo/0% financing on the spot. I arranged to pick up the dishwasher, since ours breaking prompted the visit in the first place. The remaining appliances were to be delivered about 2 weeks later. I called a few days later and asked if I could also pick up the range, as we had someone who was interested in purchasing our vintage stovetop...I thought they would be happy to oblige, as this would get an item off their truck saving them gas and manpower. The person who answered the phone was nasty and acted like it would be such a huge inconvenience to get the appliance in their store. Then, it wasn't there the day they claimed, and the owner left a curt message with my wife telling her that, "you'd better call before you head down here...". When I called back he told me that there had been a mistake and that the stove would not be in the store for another two days. We went three days without a stove...not the biggest deal, but WTF? We had mentioned we would be interested in getting an appointment for a kitchen remodel. I even made the appointment with their "kitchen guy" and made sure I was home the morning he was supposed to show up. Not only did he NEVER show up, but I never got so much as a phone call or an apology. You figured they'd want an extra 10-20K of business?!? Guess not. When my wife called them to vent, the owner really didn't seem very apologetic and really had nothing insightful to say about the fact that his message was rude, or that he messed up the appointment for the kitchen remodel estimate. They just don't really care, other than to get the money from you. I'm scheduled to have my fridge delivered tomorrow, hopefully it shows up in one piece. I will say that the man I spoke to who does the deliveries was very polite and knowledgeable on the phone....so that's a first. Maybe he should take over the company. read more
