It's a huge as the name suggests, with loads going on visually, making it seem busier than it really is. As the name also suggets, they're all about the big package holidays. Whether you want a "sun" holiday or a "snow" holiday, a hotel or self-catering accommodation, they have hundreds upon hundreds of pre-packaged holidays in which to delight. This makes it perfect if you're looking for a trip to Magaluf or Gran Canaria, especially. There are also loads of deals on throughout the year, for trips of various lengths. What they're also good for, although somewhat less adept at accommodating, is simple old flights. I went in to get a flight from Glasgow to central California. I'd already found a cheap deal online (I believe it was listed on their website), but what they found was still a little more expensive. I think they tend to book their own flights and deals rather than flights with other carriers, so it's understandable. Either way, they were very quick and friendly, and are trained to listen to your specifications and find something as closely tailored to you as possible. On the negative side, some friends of mine were planning a big trip to Gran Canaria at the end of high school and the representative from here called them pretty frequently to try to get the sale. Understandable, but a bit pushy in those situations. Overall, good place to shop for a holiday and pick up some brochures, especially if you don't like to get into the nitty-gritty online stuff by yourself.

The Virgin Holidays store in Glasgow (within Debenhams) is small but the staff know what they are doing and will assist with anything that you need for your holiday in order to make your time away as special as possible, maybe even some Virgin exclusives. The store is always clean and I've never had to wait to be served, unlike other big name high street travel agents. You will pay more with Virgin, but I'd rather pay more and get a better experience than pay less and loose out on something on the few days holiday that we look forward to, and plan for, for so long. We've been paying up our holiday every month, the staff have always dealt with the payments without any issues and it's great to see a confirmation e-mail coming through as well as being able to see the remaining balance on line. So overall, great customer experience, great product, sometimes exclusives but expensive compared to other high street travel agents

There was a good selection of free leaflets, along with some items for sale including tea towels, rennie mcintosh products, calanders. The centre was easy enough to access but I could see it being a bit problematic in terms of space at the height of the summer just because of the size of it. It was clean and tidy so quite a nice tourist information centre really.

I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a lovely old building, situated in the clock tower in a very prominent position on the seafront. Internally it's 'bijou', but there is lots and lots of information available on all manner of activities and places both locally and in Scotland as a whole. I came away with a few leaflets having had a good chinwag with the lady there, who obviously had good local knowledge and appeared to be keen to help. Not just for tourists, this place is well worth a visit even if just to see what you're missing!

I ended up here by accident when hopping on the wrong train whilst their doors were closing - damn…read moremy eagerness to be on the move! It's a central station - opposite the Playdrome and a 5 minute walk from Clydebank Shopping Centre, and is right beside the bus station - which is handy when you need to get someplace else quick. The station itself is busy and has good areas to shelter in from the rain and cold. Not bad.

Clydebank doesn't have as many trains as its sister station Singer, but it does provide a quicker…read moreroute to Glasgow, passing through Yoker, Garscadden, Scotstounhill and Jordanhill before Hyndland. It's convenient for buses, the newsagent and the shopping centre. Unlike Singer, it has wheelchair access. A disgusting story; years ago, while waiting for a bus at night, I stared into the wall underneath Clydebank Train Station. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw tons of rats scurrying inbetween the bricks, their tails waggling and noses twitching. I continued to stare, mesmerised. It was like looking at one of those Magic Eye pictures when you realise there has been something jumping out at you all along.

Payment was simple. Sometimes it can be a hassle when you're touring overseas, but that was easy peasy. Our guide was Derek Giles. He was a perfect match for our group- professional, down to earth, and easy going. I've worked with some who are a bit pushy, egotistical, or too regimented. Derek was delightful. We did have some unforeseen and avoidable problems, but you know what? Stuff happens. It was all handled quickly and without a lot of fuss. The show went on and we had a fabulous time. It means a lot to know you're in good hands. Derek introduced us to a lot of local customs and hideouts that we wouldn't have known about without his suggestion - including imbibing on a wee dram of 12 year old scotch and dinner on the wharf in Oban that was to DIE for. Yum, yum. I'm missing Scotland already and would recommend you see it with Scottish Terrier Tours.

That is sadly gone now, although the shop has never quite shaken off the old fashioned, slightly yellowing appeal. Experts in package holidays, and longer flights, this is not a bucket shop- despite its proximity to the University, and offers a fairly broad range of deals: the staff don't have the same enthusiasm as the more informal shops, but are linked to major holiday companies. A good place for capturing a longer break, or arranging travel to exotic climes, this is a fixture on the Great Western Road and one to find a good family package.

Definitely, something of an institution this travel agents has been here for years. It's very lived in and homely (in the I'm too busy to clean my windows kind of way). I've never noticed it being particularly busy, or busy at all really, but it must keep business ticking over considering how long it's been here. This is not surprising given that the staff are very friendly, helpful and genuinely know their stuff. None of this - yes, one moment..I think it's close to...oh wait no - while they click away on computers or frantically flick through brochures. Instead of acquiring the same information you could have from reading their brochures you feel that the staff genuinely know what they are talking about. Always a major plus, in today's travel agent world. Plus, don't fall into the student 'honey trap', they cater for all folks and have good up-to-date knowledge about longer holidays, further afield places and long haul flights. They are also affiliated with bigger companies so can offer a range of good deals which won't break the bank. Perfect. If only they still had the cardboard cutout men in the window...

Barnhill station is practically just a stone's throw from Springburn station, but it is the closest…read morestation to St Rollox retail park, which includes a Lidl, Costco and Tesco superstore. It lies just off Petershill Road and the large Royal Mail sorting office - a major employer in the area. The train service is frequent, with trains between Springburn and the west end of Glasgow (Balloch, Dalmuir, Milngavie) calling here. The station is usually very quiet but I would not recommend hanging around after dark, as the nearby area is somewhat dodgy. It is not ideal that Barnhill does not have a ticket office or waiting room, though given it is such a quiet station it is understandable. It would definitely be better to sit in a proper waiting room on a cold winter's night though, rather than the somewhat primitive bus shelter-style ones here. I was bemused to learn that Barnhill does not see any trains stop at it on a Sunday, which gives it the appearance of some sort of ghost station on the ScotRail timetable. I know that the station is not well-used but to have it totally closed on a Sunday is absolute blasphemy. If the lack of patronage justifies its closure, then why not do the same with other quiet stations like Scotstounhill or Hillington East?
