The second thing is customer approach. Let´s look at both. But first some generall facts. It doesn´t look awesomely beautiful from outside but it´s really nicely looking inside. Plenty of space, old statues, continuously renovated a rooms (for pacients) are big enough, especially if you are on of those private ones (which I totally recommend to book). Ok and now about those two things. As i said the first one is professional. Generally speaking czech obstetrics is on very high level. We have one of the lowest mortality in the world (top 3 actually). And Podolí is on the top of the rank. If any other hospital has some problems with mom and kid so they try to get them to this one (or Apolinář). They have the best skills and experiences. They can save babies which would be doomed somewhere else. That´s actually amazing. If any mom knows that the birth is risky, they go automatically to this hospital. So all and all, there is no question about the high level of professionalism of local medical staff. But there is a second thing and it is customer approcach and not only here but generally in czech hospitals. We carry this weight from comunist time when customer didn´t really matter or better said customer´s opinion. So in this case, it´s like I am the doctor and you are just a patient so you shut up and listen me because I am always right. Well, I understand that those people study for six or more years and have plenty of experiences but that doesn´ t mean that they can´t be more flexible in approcach and communication towards clients. Also many people wants to know exactly what will go on and the type approacch "Well, I could tell you but you wouldn´t understand so why should I" is also not the right one. So that´s the "dark" side of hospitals generally including Podolí. But not everything is so bad and now I am talking about Podolí. It´s getting better and it´s more or less really up to which doctor you meet because there are lights in the dark. Also all doctors and many midwifes speakes english in this hospital so that´s cool. Worse situation is with nurses. They don´t really speak so discussion with them might be sometimes frustrating or confusing but it´s not so horrible as it can sound. All and all I recommend this maternity hospital because the life of your baby is always the most important thing.

Velmi špatná zkušenost s noční chirurgickou pohotovostí FN Královské Vinohrady…read more Na pohotovost jsme přišli kolem 1:00 v noci s bolestivým abscesem v třísle. Problém trvá delší dobu, ale během noci z pátku na sobotu se akutně zhoršil - výrazně se zvětšil a bolest už byla nesnesitelná, proto jsme přijeli. Hned při příchodu se sestra podivovala, proč jdeme "až teď v noci", převracela oči a vůbec nebrala v potaz, že se stav akutně zhoršil, což jsme opakovaně vysvětlovali. Lékařka se na místo krátce podívala a bez jakéhokoli řešení nás odmítla s tím, že si máme v pondělí zajít k obvodní lékařce, protože to prý teď řešit nebude. Absces v třísle je přitom chirurgický problém, který se běžně řeší na pohotovosti, zvlášť pokud se zhoršuje a je velmi bolestivý. Odmítání péče a způsob komunikace považuji za neprofesionální a necitlivé. Pohotovost má sloužit právě pro situace, kdy se stav náhle zhorší mimo běžnou ordinační dobu. Bohužel jsme se zde setkali s opakem. Doufám, že se nemocnice nad přístupem personálu, zejména na noční chirurgické pohotovosti, zamyslí.

It was hard to avoid getting sick in the cold weather, especially when you are traveling and when…read moreyou are from out of country. But we are glad to found this clinic. Before coming to this clinic, I have already know this is a place for non- EU patients, that speak good English and they will accept you for no insurance coverage. But honestly compare to the US health insurance, what you paid for its well worth it. And from my research, apparently prague has the 5th best Healthcare service in Europe, so we decided to go in to see a doctor before we travel off to a different country. The clinic was not crowded, however, the doctor was out for an in house service, in this case he was at the hotel. (So, another great option to do if you are far from it, but they do charge more for it.) So we end up having have to wait for an hour. But as soon as the doctors is back, he was quick and immediately see us. The check up was professional, throughout and efficient. And then they send us medication on the spot instead of going to a pharmacy for pick up. And we just paid up and go. It was a stressed free experience, without breaking your bank, especially when traveling out of country. My only complaint is that, after we return home and wanted to get the medical record of the antibiotics prescribed( because the receipt was written in Czech), they never got back to us thru email.
