When I tell you that I wish all Dr were like Dr Ela.. I can't stress that enough. He gave me all of his time. I have a lot going on and even then he didn't make me feel unheard or rushed. I have not felt this way about a doctor in a long time. He is caring, kind and most of all knowledgeable. Please don't pass up an opportunity to see if you get referred here. I think that this Dr. really does know his stuff. But he is NEVER at this office, they either always close early or are on vacation. Staff rarely answers the phone. My son was sent for a MRI, they for sure charged us for the visit for him to be told that, but no one EVER called us back with the results. Its been over 3 months. He is late to virtual appointments and then calls back at a different time when people aren't available. Now I am stuck looking for a new doctor for my son because this one is not dependable. read more

Today was my second visit with Dr. Ela, and my first visit to his new office. To start, the location is easy to find, and parking easy to find within the plaza. This was a bonus because the previous location had limited parking. His new receptionist, Cynthia is really great! She's very on top of things and very nice. I cannot begin to express how much I love Dr. Ela. I was referred to him by my PCP. After more than 2 months of unexplained pressure and pain in my head and previous various doctors and treatments, I finally got to see a nuerologist. Let me just say, I did also see another nuerologist that made me feel more upset and down in the dumps about my mysterious condition, but Dr. Ela was the complete opposite. He is top notch! That's saying a lot, because I am very particular about doctors. Obviously any doctor has to be educated and have expertise in his/her field, but Dr. Ela, has great bedside manor. When taking the medical history he carefully reviews any medical records or chart notes, asks detailed questions and provides his expert feedback on what the next steps should be. He also does not leave the room until every question and concern is addressed (trust me I always have a lot), and you leave with a summary of the visit. This is great because patients can forgot what the doctor has said, so the handy sheet is concise and so helpful. Another thing he said that was.. I almost want to say profound, but let's just say it clicked with me. He said something to the tone of, doctors have to treat things are common before treating things that rare." The way he worded it was much better, but basically it made me feel more at ease carrying the baggage of frustration of not feeling well and having to take various medications prior to ever even having an appointment with him. Clearly, anyone needing to consult a nuerologist is having some sort of brain related issue, which can cause anxiety and stress well before leading up to the appointment. Dr. Ela eliminated all the anxious feelings I had just from the initial handshake. He is charming, has a great sense of humor, and will make you feel hopeful and optimistic. In both my visits I leave much happier than I arrived. When I saw my PCP again, I thanked him for the great referral. This is my first visit with Dr. Ela. I had craniotomy last January 30, 2018 due to a meningoma. After the surgery, I'm experiencing uncontrollable partial seizures. My neurosurgeon is referring me to a neurologist in Cedar Sinai (where I had the surgery) but I prefer to look for a local doctor. Dr. Ela takes time to know his patients. He builds rapport and answer all my questions. He is very compassionate on what I am going through. There was a little wait because he takes time and doesn't rush. Highly recommended! read more

My husband had a stroke last year and is battling cancer this year and is experiencing TIA's. Dr. Ela has been wonderful in explaining things to us about his conditions and he knows so much about not only neurology but how the entire body works together. He has recommended us to other specialists to get things checked out. In other words, he thinks out of the box and he cares about your entire health. We're so grateful to him for the time and attention he gives us. We never feel rushed and by the end of each appointment we feel we have really learned a lot about my husband's conditions. I would highly recommend Dr. Ela. He is a very busy doctor but he takes the time to make sure you get the answers you need. His thought process is unlike any other doctor I have been to. He looks to treat the cause instead of the symptoms and he also realizes that a condition can be connected to more than one issue. My daughter went to see Dr. Ela and has less than a favorable visit. She was told to go home a rest and come back in another month rather than looking into what was really causing her the symptoms she was experiencing. Thankfully we did not take his advise and found another doctor who was able to diagnose and properly treat her. I would not recommend this doctor. read more

I have experience as an ER, OR RN and also audited medical records. Dr. Ela is an exceptionally good doctor. Dr. Ela made the procedure much easier than I expected! I had to have an EMG and had heard horror stories + had had an EMG some years ago with another neurologist; it was awful. Dr. Ela was kind, funny, took a thorough history and explained everything that would take place. I did have to wait about 25 minutes, but, that's probably because he does take the time he needs with each patient. I was told the test would take 30-45 minutes; it was completed in 23 minutes! His staff is very nice too! I highly recommend Dr. Ela. *** One caveat**** another poster mentioned the wrong address... the referring physician's office gave us the wrong and correct address on the referral paperwork. Couldn't tell you how good the Dr was since we weren't able to see him. They don't see kids under 18 at this office. I only got as far as the front office staff. A very unpleasant Latina with nothing but attitude. I made my 17yr old sons appointment a week ago, they said he may not see him because of his age and would call me back if he didn't. I gave them my work & cell #. Never got a call on either. She very rudely told me at first that she left a message and then that there was no answer??? I advised her that I gave her 2 numbers. All she said was "like I said I didn't get a call back". I always have my cell with me, and my phone rings maybe 4 times in a day! I asked her if there was another dr who could see him, she said I don't have anything for you. Didn't offer any assistance. Very cold, very uncaring, very unprofessional first impression. read more

I had been to other Neurologists before. I did not care for their bedside manner.. Dr. Ela is very considerate of your concerns. He listens to you he enlightened me on a few things that my Primary care Dr. did not.He has a Great sense of humor. Very good bedside manner. It's amazing to find a doctor that takes the time to listen to you and answers all your questions and concerns. I was relaxed from the moment he shook my hand, and confident that I had found a great neurologist. I didn't have to wait long (I had early AM appointments,) but if I did have to wait, I know it's because he's busy taking great care of the patient(s) before me.
