Oh someone please keep me away from this place! I am spending all my money here!!!!!…read more I normally write about restaurants I visit but this little adorable shop is actually one of the places I keep going back to in the years I live in Amsterdam. It's a small shop on a side street right of the spuistraat. Beautiful shop full of hand made jewelry. This place is the main place I buy my rings and earrings in. (I'm not a necklace fan but they do have those as well). The style is very delicate and feminine and they have a big selection. The girls at the shop are really helpful and will adjust a size for you (mainly with rings) if necessary. Lovely shop. Not the cheapest place but I do have some of their things for a few years now and I'm really happy with the quality.

In here, you'll find lots of jewellery, (rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces) that is handmade in a studio in Amsterdam. I hesitated for a while, and finally decided to get two little gold filled hoops earrings with lovely details on them, and a little gold dot stud. The staff was super nice, and really helpful. And because I wanted a special pair but in an other size that the one presented in the shop, one of the staff member actually made it, in front of me. It's not cheap, but because the gold filled is such a nice and reliable material, and it is handmade, it's totally worth it. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely go and check it out ! They also have an online shop for those (like me) not living in Amsterdam.

They didn't communicate between each other at the shop and would tell me diff stories on the progress and why . I confronted them about this being racially motivated because i cannot imagine any of their rich local white customers ever returning if they recieved the service and deceit i experienced. I spent 1000's and wish i hadn't, the earrings are tarnished now to me.

( There were no signed high-end pieces that I could see ) The shop was extremely small but there is a lot of jewelry to behold. Unfortunately, the displays are jumbled together & the pieces seemed to be thrown on the tray ( no presentation ) & as a result, everything just seemed old & unpolished & unloved. A specific ring I had seen online was not out for display but when I inquired about it, they went to the back & got it out for me. But after I tried it on, I felt like I was surrounded by their staff on the off-chance I might try to run off with it.......which would have been impossible since A - I'm not that kind of person & B - please see above reference to man-trap Prices are extremely high & while they will negotiate the cost, we never got to that point. I had advised the person helping me that I wanted to go think about the ring - which turned out to be antique-style & not a true antique. She advised me we could discuss price when I got back But how will I know if I even want to come back if I don't know what your best price is - it would have helped me in the thinking process if I had had a firm figure in mind And with the info I was presented, I did not feel the need to return.....so yeah, I've experienced better

I had walked by this shop so many times and ironically, on my first trip to Amsterdam I stayed two doors down from it and never noticed it. I mentioned this to the owner and he said, which I agree, that part of the charm of Amsterdam is there are so many things here that you are constantly stumbling upon amazing shops and more every time you walk down the street. He couldn't be more right. The shop itself is so unique. I knew immediately that I would love it here. The items were cool and not like anything else I'd find while shopping. It's definitely not a tourist shop; it's not a t-shirt or postcard sort of place, but it features really cool home decor items from suspended butterflies to really cool metal displays. I knew immediately I'd find so many things I'd love and couldn't bring back to the states with me because I'd have no room and I was right, but I did find some cool metal keys to bring with me to decorate in my living room. I asked the owner if they had a story to them and he replied, "everything has a story" and that was good enough for me.

Such an amazing store! Definitely one of my favorite in Amsterdam. Exquisite pieces of decor, for sure! They have very "weird" pieces too, and simpler ones. For those who call themselves collectors, you might find something here for you. The displays are carefully curated so you should look carefully to appreciate everything!

We went in and met with Aron and told him our ideas and budget. Aron is the best jeweler I have spoken with and done business with to date. After sitting down and speaking with him, the ring I thought I had wanted disappeared, and the ring of my dreams slowly began to come together. He told us to return in an hour and he'd have loose diamonds, in our price range to choose from. We left and checked out two other local jewelry stores. Nothing and no one came close to Bonebakker and its staff. We knew Bonebakker was going to be the designer of my engagement ring and many more gifts to come! Once we returned Aron presented the diamonds in such a wonderful way. He taught us. We spoke about ring design and also how each diamond would fit into the setting that Aron was planning to design for us. I picked out the diamond without hesitation and Aron was confident he could have it ready in 6 weeks. Well, my fiancé had other plans.....he wanted to have the ring that day!! He made me step out of the store so he could talk with Aron. I had no idea what was going on. None. They called me back into the store and told me the ring would be ready and shipped in a few weeks. We were super excited. The next day my fiancé proposed atop the Skinny Bridge!! Aron allowed him to borrow a ring so that his plans of proposal wouldn't be ruined. It was simply magical. And my fiancé couldn't have done it without Aron and Bonebakker. The memories of creating my engagement ring at Bonebakker, learning about diamonds, and the proposal is something I will always hold dear to my heart. I cannot thank Jannie and Aron enough for their time, patience, and expertise!! I look forward to our anniversary trips to Amsterdam and Bonebakker. Please check Bonebakker out for yourself. I promise you will not only walk away with a beautiful piece of jewelry but many great memories.

I recently picked up my custom designed ring from Bonebakker, and I was so happy on how much more…read morebeautiful it was than I could have ever expected or imagined - so I needed to rush to write this review. I highly recommend Bonebakker for anyone who is looking for fine jewelry and custom made designs. Don't be intimidated by the store, they have a lot of jewelry with different price points and even if you are not ready to buy the store is just good for some jewelry eye candy. Prior to visiting Bonebakker I went to about 10 different fine jewelry shops to look for an engagement ring. Walking in I already could tell there was something different . They have very personal/professional service and Aron was very knowledgable about fine jewelry, without pushing to sell. They are kind of like jewelry nerds, and just love jewelry and want to share this love with others. I learned so much from Aron since he knew so much about the stones, aesthetics, designs and metals- which helped me express what I wanted. He patiently helped me figure out what I would like by letting me try different rings, and let him know what I liked/didn't like about the styles (I learned I love millegrain, I had no idea what it was until then). We then looked at a few loose stones, so I can understand what the different sizes and shapes mean (I didn't know a lot about diamonds until then). When making a custom ring, they first try to understand what your style is, what how I wanted to wear the ring (I wanted a ring that I could wear everyday so easy to maintain and low profile), and what are my must haves for the ring. I call this first phase, educational and exploratory. The next phase is the design of the ring. After that visit, we did the rest over email (I do not live in Amsterdam). Aron and Jannie asked me more questions, showed me sketches to help me decide which style I would like better. The last step before making the ring is to review the 3D designs of the ring, which gives you an idea of different angles of the ring. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous making such a big investment with drawings/3D images, since this is the first time I had a custom ring. The last phase is the "ohh and ahh", or when you pick up the ring. When I first saw my ring, I was so happy since it was exactly what I wanted, if not even better than what I could imagine. I could tell that the stones and metal waork was such high quality, especially when next to my other rings. They didn't set the final diamond, in order to measure my other ring I was going to stack below to make sure that the two rings didn't rub and ruin the stone. These little touches, and the design of the ring felt that it was made specially for me. An engagement ring already is special, but having it custom made makes it unique, personal and I have a great story behind it. Second part of the review. I loved the jewelry so much, I got one of the rings available in the store (not custom made). Again, high quality jewelry and absolutely gorgeous.
