The breakfast platters are some combination of meat, cheese, jams, fruit, and they come with a basket of various bread rolls. The platters are fairly inexpensive too, considering how much food we received. My friend's scrambled eggs were delicious and came in a giant serving. Neither of us could eat all of our food; we were stuffed. The coffee and fresh-pressed juices were solid. The service was lovely, and I loved how clean and well-lit the restaurant felt. Often at chain bakeries the spinach filling is overly salty or simply doesn't taste like spinach. The spinach in the strudel is pureed but manages to be just the right texture to match the flaky crust. The simit is not the best that I've had in the neighborhood but it is the cheapest that I've found so far (~50 cents). I would hesitate to give this place more stars because the counter woman is always antagonistic towards me. Once she seemed to have derived pleasure from telling me that they did not have any sesame rings. Clearly the quality is good enough, the prices are low enough, and the location is close enough that I deal with the service, since I come here at least once a week.

It was immediately obvious why it was recommended - there's a huge range of tasty treats on offer and they're all very reasonably priced. They also sell coffee which, whilst it comes from a machine, tastes good enough and is quite cheap. Our only complaint about the place was the service... we arrived about 30 minutes before they closed for the day and were given a bit of a lecture about how we couldn't expect to drink coffee inside. Fair enough - we weren't expecting to - but we did end up feeling like a pair of school kids being told off by the teacher! It was worth it for the cakes though! There isn't much space to sit inside but there is enough outside. The bread, coffee, cakes and pizza are amazing here and what makes it even better is knowing the background and the history of this bakery. We were lucky enough to learn about it during the open bakery tour, which takes place once a year. We learned that they get their grains locally for years from the same organic farmer. They have two mills grinding their own flour. And a system that transfers the flour into the bakery, where it is still prepared and kned the old traditional way. All with a lot of love and passion. The bakery is owned by six partners at the moment and creates this unique love for their profession that is reflected in the quality of their products. What a cool little bakery!…read more My German Airbnb host recommended this place as a wonderful organic bakery which is right around the corner to her apartment in Charlottenburg. One Friday morning, I took a stroll to get breakfast. As soon as you step in, you feel welcomed - the bakery is warm and cozy. One of the staff behind the countered said hello; when I asked if he spoke English, he explained a little bit about the bakery and handed me a menu describing the bread and pastries. The place is most famous for their whole wheat breads, though they have breads made with spelt and rye which sound like they are gluten free. There is a chalkboard on the wall which describes which days of the week certain types of loaves of bread are made -- how organized and cool is that! I had the obst-quark pastry (pinwheel type pastry with cherry inside) and süsse münder (a small cashew type of pastry) plus coffee. The only downside to the cafe is that there is not much seating, though I was able to share a spot with one of the regulars in the seating room/ shop area. A nice bakery oasis in this heavily residential area - I highly recommend you check it out if you love pastries and bread.
