This is a perfect Spring, Summer, Autumn wedding venue north of Vic in the Catalan hills about an hours drive from Andorra. Courtesy mostly of nature the venue is stunning and the owners have enhanced nature with their accommodation, dining and dancing facilities. We arrived a week before the wedding into Vic to chill and explore. I guess the venue is 35 miles from Barcelona directly, while describing itself as 'near Barcelona', and the last few miles to get there are really for local taxi drivers or explorers to figure out. The address we got was Mas Casamitjana - This Must Be The Place, Moià. We were guests at the wedding and heard bits about the arrangements etc. The venue's owners provide the venue and accommodation and any stay pre/post wedding and the couple organise food for their and their guests entire stay and I guess the music and bar. I'm not sure if the venue provides music and guess not again most likely up to the couple. The couple got married in the open air and we sizzled in 32c. Not a clergyman (or woman) was in sight. None were required. The food was superb from octopus to steaks cooked on coals to sushi and paella. Desserts too were from deep chocolate treats to fruit based morsels. Unlimited fresh pineapple and strawberries were refreshing in 33c. The bar was free from our arrival at 2pm to departure at 2am here too champagne, spirits etc - just ask. The taxis arrived on time and returned us to Vic centre as accommodation was via Shanks's Mare given the narrow alleyways of the town. It's been 20 years sine I've been awake at 2:30am. After the wedding we stayed two more nights then to Barcelona a for few nights near the Gaudi masterpiece and a cruise. Then fast forward another fortnight and we reached our hotel in Santa Suzanna Costa Del Maresme (not Blanca). We unpacked sat with coffees in a small cafe and struck up conversation with a young couple from London only to find they were going to Vic, yes to the same venue for a wedding, and yes would be staying where we did. Everything you could possibly have dreamed of for your wedding abroad and more This Must Be The Place made the dream of getting married abroad, a stress free-reality. From the very first moment we contacted Jo and Duncan to explore their venue, we knew it was the one. We truly felt that this must be the place. Planning a Spanish wedding at home in Scotland felt like an impossible task but Jo and Duncan had an answer for every question we could have possibly dreamed up. Nothing was a bother, every suggestion embraced and every thought encouraged. This is a venue that really wants you to live out your dream day as if they are your own family. Hidden in the Catalonian hills, just one hour from Barcelona airport, this converted farmhouse is in the wide open - yet is completely secluded and genuinely special. Every inch of this venue is beautiful, from the barn to the bedrooms, it is breathtaking. There was so much choice in customising our big day, we had so many options of where to hold our welcome drinks, our ceremony, our aperitivo, our dinner, our dessert, our party and more. Jo and Duncan will make your vision a reality, with so many spaces to play with. We felt a lot of pressure to provide something special since we were trekking 80 of our family and friends from Scotland to Spain. Since coming home we have been inundated with people telling us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. That was made possible by Jo, Duncan and all of the amazing vendors who are delighted when they find out your wedding is at TMBTP. Every vendor we used had worked there before and each came with the seal of approval from Jo and Duncan, this put us at ease throughout, especially when things operate on a much more relaxed timescale compared to here in the UK. If Jo and Duncan trust them, you can too. Our wedding was perfect, marrying the woman I love amongst the blossoming flowers, surrounded by butterflies and the buzzing of the bees, with the sun piercing through the trees and reflecting from the hanging disco ball in every direction. It is a memory that will last a lifetime. And even when things look to be going wrong, Jo and Duncan are experts on hand to turn things around before you even have a moment to panic. An out of the blue 20 minute thunder storm, breaking up a glorious day of sunshine was converted into a cosy moment inside for speeches that left everyone in streams of smiling tears. This couple live every wedding as if it is their own (and they have had their own wedding there! It should even serve as your inspiration). Every added extra you can come up with will fit in seamlessly here. We had live painters, a bagpiper, buses, taxis, big floral arrangements and a party nobody wanted to end. All coordinated to perfection by Jo and Duncan. The night before the wedding felt so intimate and special, our closest friends gathered round the courtyard as we polished off our speeches and then the morning after the wedding reminiscing on a night we never wanted to end. This place is really special. We will never be able to truly put into words how grateful we are to have had such an emotional wedding full of love and joy in such a beautiful setting.
