Listen... as someone who has lived in the Pentagon City for years... I still find it weird you can not purchase beer and wine in your local grocery stores.. Thirsty's serves its purpose if you are thirsty for moderately priced alcohol. They have a nice variety of liquors and wines but certain items (that I prefer) take awhile to restock. Overall, this place is decent and serves to the community. I am still salty AF over the lottery machine incident I had 2 weeks ago. But I will admit it resolved itself after a hour or so. The manager never showed up. However, someone went to the machine, when I stepped out to take a tinkle, won a little bit of money, and had the audacity to try to cash out w/ the the worker. Thankful, he knew what was going on and told them guy his $32 was coming to me since he stole my credit. He tried to deny it and when I spoke up, he resolved the issue... in which he had no choice (back to my review)... decent liquor store, mostly friendly staff (based off my interaction) and reasonably priced... The only complaint I have about this store is that they needed more people working behind the counter since all of the hard liquor had to be selected and given to you at the register. Other than the I loved it. I just moved to PG county and I'm working on finding my new favorite places and I think this one will be added to the list. On the floor are so many wine selections grouped by type and some bigger bottles of vodka and other liquors. The layout is open and the store is fairly bright. The prices were reasonable and I spent so much that I got a Jack Daniels glass short tumbler. It was very heavy and nice. I'll take pictures next time I go. read more

This is hands down my favorite liquor store! The people who work there are very friendly and helpful and the clientele is unlike that of other liquor stores in the area. Cool people shop there...not lots of bums etc. (no shade to the bums, though). The store is always spotless and all of the merchandise is well organized. They always have everything I want when I go there, even if it's something seemingly ridiculous. Also, they have a snazzy little seating area thing in the back for people playing the lottery. Like, people legit sit back there for a long time watching the screens and filling out the little cards and writing things. I have no idea what they're doing over in that corner like that, but they seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. Lol The lines in the store are never long and they move quickly. If there is one person being rung up and a second person gets in line behind them, they will open up another register on the behalf of that second person. Finally, Thirsty's has these really cool tasting events every now and then. People come in and the environment is actually quite festive. Ha! This liquor store is so good. read more

Prices are a tad expensive but this day I only came to play the lottery. I patiently waited in line with two customers in front of me. When it was my turn I walked to the counter and the female worker started signing paperwork. She looked up and asked if she could help me. I handed her my number sheet and she said it's going to be a minute and returned to the paperwork. Seconds later she looked up and pointed to the lottery machine on the side of the store and said you can play your numbers over there. I walked out. I love this place. It is easy to get to, parking isn't a mess, it's always clean, the people are nice, and I just like it. I don't like going to liquor stores much but I visit this one when I am out of my drinks. We have SO many liquor stores within a small radius but this is my favorite. Parking is importa because many liquor stores are in places where the parking is cramped. Because this one is in a shopping center, it makes it easier and there is 15 min parking as well. read more

I just walked out of Thirsty's with some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. Let me start with I'm a 57 year old woman, first the security guard attempted to remove the cart which was right next to me without asking. Then I purchased 11 bottles of Wine and requested they be put into a box. The rude cashier who wouldn't give me his name (African American male, mid/late 20s, foreign accent) put them in a box and attempted to hand the heavy box to me instead of bringing it around to the cart. When I said something to him he got upset and said what did I want him to do. I stated bring it around to the cart. At which time again he stated I should lift the heavy box myself and place it in the cart. I stated to him that I was paying for the items and he wasn't giving me anything to which he replied I can just give you your money back which I gladly took and exited the store to write this review. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS STORE AGAIN. There are to many liquor stores to put up with disrespectful service. As residents of PG County we have to stop taking our dollars out of the county and start supporting each other in demanding good service here. So my whole live I've lived back in West Virginia. When I was going into junior high my grandfather taught me how to make liquor. Our family never bought any alcohol because we could make our own, and it was really good. I recently got a job outside of DC and don't have enough land to make my own liquor. The county I live in regulates their alcohol so it's not as strong therefore I have to travel to get some real good liquor. When I was driving home after work I realized I needed some alcohol because I was out. I go into Thirsty's liquor store and let me tell you, there is enough liquor in there to get a whole train of horny college students wasted. The diversity of the staff astounded me and their knowledge of liquor was superior to any other liquor store staff I've ever been to. I came here on a whim to get some alcohol for a get-together and was thoroughly impressed and wished that this place was closer to my house. One of the largest liquor stores that I've been to in the area and everything is clean and well organized. The majority of the hard stuff (rum, gin, vodka, etc) is behind the counter, requiring assistance to get it. I understand why they do this, to minimize stealing, but it can be a little frustrating when you want to compare a few different items but need the salesperson to go back and forth. It can also make it difficult to compare prices. The sales guy was super nice and patient though, I'll give him that. There is even a little seated area in the back for those who want to play the lotto. I came on a Friday around 7/8pm and no one was there nor were the tv's on so I'm not sure when you can play as I imagine a Friday night would be one of their primo lotto times. But yes, go here if it's in the area. Very large selection, affordable prices, good service, plenty of parking. Can't beat it. read more

This is definitely the best liquor store in the area. It is spotless and has the best selection of beer, wine, and spirits around. The staff are extremely friendly; if you cannot find what you are looking for, just ask! And checkout is a smooth process now with the new chip readers they recently installed. Ample parking in the shopping center is an added bonus. read more

Thirstys was a RELIEF after encountering the bullet-proof laden liquor store the day before. I came in here to get a bottle of wine since the weirdo Safeway in the same plaza does not sell wine... where they do that at?! Not only did I find what I was looking for but the employees in this store were a delight! Well, my cashier was anyway. We laughed about the store I went to the day before and he wished me a happy new year. I will def be back to this store. The only reason I took off one star is because the wine was more than it was at other places. I will pay extra for awesome customer service! read more
