Thirsty Goat Saloon.....Lajitas Resort & Spa. 09/21/12
Spicy M.

We've always heard about the Thirsty Goat, the Mayor of Lajitas,TX . Well, the Mayor has long been gone.....we didn't get to meet him....BUT, we did get to enjoy a FUN night @ his name sake....the Thirsty Goat Saloon @ Lajitas Resort & Spa! We were really lucky to catch The Inheritance , the night we were there. We'd seen them @ Padre's, in Marfa, a couple of nights before & really enjoyed their music! It's Eastern European Folk....really cool! The Thirsty Goat Saloon is a Fun Laid Back little bar. It's decorated in a Fancy yet Rustic Cowboy way. The leather sofas & chairs are great for sinkin' down into & watchin' some great live music! The bartenders are welcoming & very friendly! Landing in the Thirsty Goat Saloon, made for a Great ending to a wonderful stay at Lajitas Resort & Spa! See ya next time! =)

The guacamole came from fresh avocados. Could have used a little more mashing, for my liking. The mixed drink contained premixed concoctions. It was still drinkable. This establishment offers plenty of outdoor seating, counter/bar seating, and indoor seating. It is equipped with a stage for live music. Overall, great service and ambiance.

I ordered a cup of chili and some Buffalo wings, and the lady friend ordered some chicken tacos. The chili was good, apparently they use the recipe from the award-winning cookout each year. The wings were weird; the flats were good and crispy but the drumettes were flimsy. The ladyfriend's tacos were horrible. They seemed to use the bagged Tyson precooked chicken breast strips that were all rubbery in texture. They gave here just a few pieces of cilantro and onion on top. These were not street tacos and needed some toppings to mask the crappy meat. I still gave them 3 stars because it's Terlingua, the beer was cold, the chili was good and the waiter was very nice.

It's such a charming place and you can tell the amount of TLC the owners have put in. They had a tornado that took out their back live music area but they have rebuilt and I believe they plan to resume events around the spring break time. The sandwiches were delicious and were a perfect way to break up our road trip to Big Bend. They also have a great variety or gift shop items, bottles of wine and just about anything you could need. Very nice to have this in an area where there aren't many resources. Stop in if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Great Food and Coffee, but Be Prepared to Pay!…read more We stopped at Ferguson Motors for breakfast while visiting Sanderson, Texas. We ordered three breakfast burritos and three coffees, and the total came to roughly $50. I'll give credit where it's due the food was great, and we really enjoyed our breakfast. However, nearly $17 per person for a breakfast burrito and coffee seems pretty steep, particularly for such a simple meal. I understand that small, remote towns have higher operating costs, but there's a difference between paying a little extra for convenience and feeling like you're paying tourist destination prices. Overall, good food and an enjoyable stop, but the prices would make me think twice about returning for breakfast.
