There are a few things in life that it doesn't pay to skimp on, and one of them is a haircut. With this in mind I took note of the dollar signs on Thierry Antoine's listing and made an appointment anyway, based on other reviews. Yup, he's that good. Best haircut ever, and I've had a lot of opportunities for comparison cause I'm old(ish). Helima, his assistant, gives a mighty fine head and neck massage too. I'm including an after photo of me and Thierry-Antoine. Now, it may not look like much to you, but you should have seen me before, with the cut from hell. I'm really very much happier now. Love this place. I was planning to write this review a while ago. Thierry did an amazing job, despite our language barrier, he could perfectly understand what I wanted and I understood what he proposed. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience at the salon. Thierry cut my hair but then another girl did the coloring and perhaps that's why it went all wrong. I showed pictures of what I wanted (uniform ash blonde with highlights and lowlights) but instead I got exactly what I explicitly said I did not want: yellow balayage with half my hair the exact same color as it was. I had to go to another hairdresser two days later (the salon is closed Sundays and Mondays) and spend another $170 to fix what the lady ruined. In addition, there was a big horizontal dark blob in the back of my hair. I think the girl may have been an apprentice, or it was her first week on the job, but I have never had anything close to this happen to me before. Think twice before you go. I wish Thierry had personally done my coloring, or at least fixed my hair when he saw what happened. Those two days I was too ashamed to go out because it looked like I had done my hair myself (and the color was disgusting dark yellow with stark contrast with my brown roots -- so not even a good balayage, if that's what it was supposed to be). FABULOUS! The atmosphere is warm, calm and welcoming. I am English so anyone who is living in and around Nice and concerned about which hairdresser to go to then don't as Thierry Antoine Coiffure is the place to go. Initially I was concerned about the price as I struggled to find it on their website however they are super quick at responding on both email and FB so this was remedied promptly. Ladies the prices really are not extortionate in comparison to London / South of England and you get EXACTLY what you pay for so there is no concern here. I paid for a cut / colour / highlights / conditioning treatment / wash and blow dry then it was styled at the end. Consultation was fabulous, English was spoken so everything was carefully explained and understood then they show the price so you know at the beginning (This is important and many hairdressers in England should do the same)The massage chair and head massage was so so nice and of course the finished result on my hair was perfect. If I could give 10 stars I would so ladies if you're in the area and need an English speaking hairdresser who can do a wonderful job please go... It is just fabulous. Needless to say I hit the jackpot with Thierry and his staff ! Wonderful shampoo massage and my haircut is spot on. They all thankfully speak English which was really a huge plus for me. Thierry cut my hair a year ago when we were in Nice. It is the best haircut I have ever had. In fact, we are starting this year's trip in Nice instead of Italy so I can have him cut my hair again.
