Dr. Pedersen showed me otherwise. I started seeing him at Kaiser where he was the head of his area and followed him into his private practice. I am so glad I did. Dr. Pedersen has an ability to understand one's suffering and to link it to a way out. He can allow one to understand the impact of the emotional shells exploding around one's head; how to protect from further issues, to the extent possible; and how to begin the process of repairing the damage. His extensive knowledge of therapy, as well as his knowledge of other avenues of treatment, permitted me to understand myself much better. I could see the destructive nature of certain actions I was allowing to be inflicted upon me, and I was armed with a defense mechanism. I've never taken so many notes since I was in school. And, he has the ability to convey his knowledge in a way that is understandable and can be applied in one's daily life. He gave me guidance that I applied regularly; things I never would have thought of. His therapy just works, at least it did for me. I am a much changed person. I am happy and joyful most of the time now. He got me out of some dark places. Was it easy? No. Was it worth it? Definitely. If you have issues, you need a therapist who can take you through them and show you the way out. Dr. Pedersen did it for me. From a personality side, he has a great sense of humor, he is never mean or derogatory, and he truly has a desire to help his patients. He is bright, funny, and caring. This review is actually very long overdue. Things started off well in the very beginning, I had a…read morecase manager that would show up each week until I finally got a counselor. I worked with the counselor for a while and it was ok but I feel like it was a waste of time. She would constantly tell me next week we'll do an exercise but we would never do an exercise. She would email me worksheets and we'd never go over them so I just stopped reading those emails. Eventually she was leaving community solutions and I was told I would get a new counselor. My case manager kept reaching out saying we will meet during this time before the new therapist starts but then she kept canceling on me each week or she wouldn't show up. I ended up not responding to her text messages anymore because I was annoyed and it was pointless. I never did get a new counselor either even though I was told one was already scheduled for me. Services just ended on their own, I didn't feel like the quality of care was there for me to try reaching out again.

My husband has been receiving mental health and medication his whole life and is disabled. Not only…read moredid they take away the meds that worked for years but fangled them in front of him saying he was getting them then cancelled them (according to the pharmacist Melissa who runs the med line did) after all of that Melissa lied to my disabled husband about it all (was also confirmed by the actual doctor) then refused his calls and had him refer to a case manager having nothing to do with her getting caught in her lie. Carol has a gift for helping you sort through issues and challenges to get to the root of where it all started, giving you a greater understanding of why you do the things you do in life. She doesn't mince words and gives you a very straightforward approach to tackling issues you are dealing with. That is what has helped me the most. It has been helpful in my personal life and in my relationship. My girlfriend (now wife) and I were able to learn a lot more about each other and how to work through conflict. We owe a lot to Carol for helping us get past some trials that may have ended our relationship if we had dealt with them the wrong way. For first responders, Carol has real insight into our careers and the stresses we deal with. She knows what she's doing and can help with managing the baggage that all of us bring home from work. My partner liked her, she excused all his horrible habits. Told me, "it's who he is, except him and deal with it." I felt it from the second session my partner and I had, she did not like me. She made it a point every time, to judge me about my insecurities within the relationship. I myself have been using therapy on my own time, for over 4 years. I've never once felt as uncomfortable as I did with Donna during couples therapy. I mean the whole reason my partner joined me in couples therapy was to try and support me through all the trauma I dealt with in the relationship. He was a 100% aware of my hurt and trust issues. I had major ptsd and insecurities that I was willing to work on overcoming. Anytime we met, she gave us time to speak on any standing issues. As for me she would mock or make fun of me about my concerns. She even went as far as telling me "your insecurities worry me"; mind you, she didn't even let me finish my reasoning as to why I had concerns about a "platonic" relationship my partner had with with another woman. It was deeper. Again not letting me finish and making me feel like my concern was not that big of a deal. My last straw was when I brought up my concern about my partner watching porn. She looked at me and said " I know how you get, don't start over thinking or getting in your head." Here I was devastated and that was the response I got. If you want to feel unheard, judged,laughed at. Not feeling like your therapist is just completely taking sides and belittling you in front of your partner. DO NOT waste your time with Donna. She will make you feel like you just need to deal with the disrespect. And how dare you bring up your concerns. Oh wait, let me just go feed into your boyfriend's little side jokes and laugh with him. It was the worst experience.

She probably doesn't remember me…read morebut she was my therapist when my mom passed away and when I was having a hard time with my father and several other things. She even wrote to me when I moved away. I found her business card today in my memory box and felt like I owe it to her to say thanks for the support in that very tough time in my life.
