This is my go-to place for my monthly massages because I absolutely love it!…read more I am someone who works a desk job, do not take as many breaks as I should, and some days I feel like I'm carrying all the world's problems. This brings me to why I max out on my massage benefits every year. Aches Away is great especially for their No Frills massages. I can appreciate a relaxing massage with essential oils and spa-type flair, but after about 30 mins I'm a bit bored. The No Frills massage is just that - go in and cater to your needs. Amy is my go-to RMT. I have tried their RMTs, but Amy is brilliant for me because she provides deep-tissue massage and hits pressure points. If I am honest, it hurt quite a lot in the beginning but in the best way. I felt renewed after. Since it is downtown, I typically walk or bike because parking can be a pain. The building is right outside of College station, which is quite convenient.

It took a while to book my initial appointment, but it was worth it. All I want is to get my back cracked, I got that and more. In our first consultation, he checked my mobility and movement and assessed that I have a mild form of mechanical pain. He created a treatment plan of 5 sessions and included exercises that would help develop my core to prevent injury during sport/workouts and improve my posture. He went beyond that by providing a brief high-pressure targeted deep massage at the beginning of the first and each subsequent session. I wouldn't say it's relaxing, but I love the pressure. He'll adjust based on your tolerance though my motto is no pain, no gain, so I take it full on. We worked mainly on my upper, lower and mid-back. *TIP* If you want to work on your back, wear a tank top instead of a strappy sports bra. I've been working on those three exercises he taught me each day. I would say they are easy enough to add to your routine and incorporate daily. Oh and it's always wonderful when a clinic charges directly to my insurance, saves all the pain of admin work.

I wouldn't recommend massage here if you're suffering from any sort of injury as the therapists…read moredon't seem particularly experienced in that area. My regular massage therapist had to cancel last minute and since I was in so much pain I booked a last minute massage here. I told the massage therapist that I had really aggravated my post concussion symptoms, so she thought a good idea would be applying pressure to the middle of my head and massaging that area. Not a good idea as it caused much further aggravation. I told my chiropractor, regular massage therapist, and family doctor what happened, and they were just absolutely baffled why a therapist would do that to a post concussion syndrome client and confirmed that this has what led to a major setback for me. I informed the office of what happened but no response. I'm sure this place is OK for relaxation massages but don't make the same mistake I did and come here for more serious muscular and nerve issues.

The rooms are quiet, simple and peaceful (some nice washrooms there too!). If you take advantage of those times, you may also receive $10 or more credits to use at another appointment.

Again when I asked about this technique I was given a very technical answer on this being my first time hence I needed to increase mobility and the second will be more relaxing . Didn't get it. Probably the best massages I've received in Toronto are from John at Sutherland Chan…read more I prefer a deep tissue and deep pressure massage and he truly does it well. He cares about his work and understands that it's intended to help others. This is evident from the high quality massages he provides. He seeks to improve a patient's wellness with his services. I've been to high end spas as well as masseurs/masseuses connected to health and wellness centers - like chiropractors and physical therapy places - across the US. None have compared to the massages from John. The location itself is more wellness and less spa based. It's basic - but more importantly clean and hygienic. I give the location an overall four stars because I did see other masseuses here In the past and despite my request for deep tissue I felt they were lacking in technique as compared to John.
