The pizzas are fine but the home delivery service is just awful. Two hours after ordering a pizza, we were calling to find out what had happened. When the delivery came, it was incomplete. Theo's then told us that we could only get a refund from Deliveroo and they wouldn't be completing the order. This has put us off ordering from Theo's again. Terrible attitude and ambiance. Theo's Pizzeria was packed when my friend and I went on a Saturday night! We were told the wait was about half an hour but we ended up only waiting about 15 minutes. The pizzas here reminded me of the ones in Naples where they're known for thin and soft crust with an emphasis on the toppings. My friend and I shared the Margherita with ricotta and sausage and a Napoli Salami but with parma ham instead. The pizzas were quite large and the toppings were generous and tasty. However, as a New Yorker I definitely felt that the pizza crust was a little too soggy. I'd enjoy it more it it was more crispy! Other than that, prices were reasonable for two delicious and large pizzas. I recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! read more

I went to Theo's last night with my friend and we had a lovely experience! Though there was a short wait for a table, the hostess asked us if we wanted to get any drinks while we waited, and we were able to get some beers while we waited. We were seated shortly after that, and the service continued to be quite good. The pizzas came out quickly after we ordered, and were very yummy. We each got the aubergine pizza. I added mushrooms to mine, and my friend added olives to hers. The crust was chewy and warm and the pecorino added a lot to the flavour. There was also a very nice chilli oil to add to the pizza. Overall, a really great experience and I would definitely come back. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner last week. I had the wood oven aubergine and he had a meat-based pizza. (Sorry, so veggie, so not paying attention!) The place was slammed so I forgive the long time it took for our pizzas to arrive. Both looked lovely and are quite large, which I think justifies the price. Mine had a very good amount of aubergine and basil leaves sprinkled about. The dough also had a good chew factor but the bottom was too burnt, which seems the trend for London pizza today. As a native NYer, I disapprove. Despite the generous cheese topping as well, the pizza was just fine. Not poor, not great. Just fine. I've had much better at Yard Sale, Joe's in Clapham and Pizza East. My husband though loved his pizza. Also I have to give props to the manager for giving us 20% off the bill because it took a while for our pizzas to arrive and we were seated at a chilly place by the windows. Very good customer service in offering that discount. read more

Theo's is easily the best pizza in Camberwell. The former chef from Pizza East knows what he's doing when it comes to putting stuff on bread. We typically order the Bufalina with extra Parma Ham, and I'll sometimes get the one with Camberwell Scotch Bonnet if I'm feeling particularly spicy. Ha! Wordplay! Anyway, today I got the sausage with onion and damn it was fantastic. For real. You know, I'm pretty luckily they don't do delivery or my bone marrow would be mainly Theo's pizza dough. read more

Delicious pizza. Bigger than Franco Manca & way better cocktails. Negroni is perfect. Service is friendly and the food comes out mega quick. There is a cute courtyard outback when it's sunny and it's cosy inside when it isn't. Great ambience. read more

Last night I went to the recently opened 'Theo's Pizzeria" in Camberwell. Owned by Theo Lewis (ex Head Chef of Pizza East), this pizzeria is an elegant version of Franco Manca, and offers a selection of Neapolitan pizzas and antipasti. The restaurant has three seating areas and a garden. On the left side of the restaurant is the main seating area, the decoration is minimalist white walls with wooden benches, bistro chairs and marble tables. In the middle, there is another room with a chimney, which I think will be used mainly for groups or when the main area is full. This area has access to the garden. I really liked this room as it felts like you were in somebody's dining room and not in a restaurant. The right side of the restaurant is a multifunction area, it includes the entrance, the kitchen with a massive wood oven and seating area with bar stools and high tables. My friend and I ordered two pizzas and a cloudy apple juice (Both of us are doing Stop October so we avoided wine and beers!). We shared a Margherita with a supplement of salami and a Pancetta. Both pizza were delicious - the perfect Neapolitan pizza. Both had a perfectly risen dough with some black marks due to the hot stone of the oven, a puffy crust and a smooth droopy centre. I had a preference for the Pancetta as I thought the Margherita didn't have enough tomato on it. The only disappointment of the evening was the wait ! The restaurant didn't have a lot of customers at the beginning but we waited 20 minutes to get our pizzas, we also had to catch the attention of the waitress to remind her about our drinks. We also had the same issue when we requested the bill. Our waitress forgot to bring our bill, the restaurant was a bit more busy at that time. We would have not minded if the waitress was busy serving other people as it is understandable, but instead she was looking after lighting candles on empty tables behind us (which BTW were still empty when we left). We decided to catch the attention of another waitress and she brought the bill straight away. Overall I had a good evening with great pizzas. It is slightly more expensive than Franco Manca but it's worth it. The pizzas are much bigger and the ingredients tasted better. I will probably come back to Theo's Pizzeria as it is only 15 minutes walk from my flat, I will however wait a bit so they have time to get more experience and improve their service. read more

I'd been curious about this place for a while, having cycled past it each week and seeing it full of millennial munchers. I was dining solo so took a seat at the window, the perfect people-watching spot. My Margherita with added aubergine arrived within 10 minutes and was gorgeous: pillowy soft dough that reminded me of naan, with its black wood oven markings. The cheese oozed, the aubergine plump. Top tip: it was a whole quid cheaper to order a Margherita with extra aubergine rather than the aubergine pizza. They may have amended the prices since my visit, though, as I did point this out to my waiter. I'm not sure it's at quite the same level as Franco Manca's sublime sourdough pizzas. However, Theo's comes pretty darn close. read more

This is a great pizzeria in Camberwell. It's menu isn't too fancy, which I really appreciate. The Camberwell Scotch Bonnet pizza with soppressata (Italian dry salami) is probably the best pizza on its menu. Also worth trying are the hot sandwiches. Try affogato to finish, a simple but very underrated Italian dessert. read more

I booked a table for 8 days in advance. We arrived. They put us at a table for 6, which would not have been particularly spacious even for 6. I will never go again. It's q joke. Overpriced and some combinations are horrendous. Franco Manca any day. read more
