Today (1/21/24), was the first Sunday service I have been to at this church, I learned the church has been in existence for 11 years but the pastor has been there for 18 months, he is from San Francisco. I will begin with the fact that I have a degree in Biblical Literature. The message began with a reading of Acts 19 that speaks of the riot at Ephesus. I understand that not everyone there is a Bible nut like I am, but I cannot be the only one that sensed a thousand red flags going up in my spirit when the lead pastor made a parallel to the riot at Ephesus and what happened on January 6. First, he inaccurately blamed the riot that happened in Ephesus on Christians when in fact, the scripture teaches that the tradesmen of Ephesus caused it; they were upset their businesses were going under because the people of Ephesus were turning to Christ and were no longer serving the goddess Diana and her image. Second, relating to Jan 6, this pastor must not have seen the bodycam evidence of the police stating it was a setup (I'd paste the link but there is cussing in it), or the police escorting people into the Capitol, or the fact that we now know there were dozens of federal agents dressed as everyday citizens who took part in the riot that day. I personally know a good man who was there protesting peacefully who was just released from prison once the Jan 6 tapes were released and the world saw the lies that were pushed on us for 3 years. I know what happened to him wasn't right and I have the Holy Spirit to guide me in truth and not in lies. To blame the riot of Ephesus or what happened on Jan 6 solely on Christians is deceptive. I tried to hear what he had to say but I cannot and will not sit under anyone who cannot discern a lie from truth, especially when truth is widely available. Whatever he believes, he should have never put that in his sermon, period. And even IF Americans started a riot on Jan 6 why did this pastor blame it on Christians? This is a completely bizarre take. This man has perverted the word of God and now we know his woke political stance. He even gave a disclaimer before showing pictures of Jan 6 saying "this is going to be very disturbing for you to all see." Disgraceful. I feel bad for God having to put up with such nonsense from the pulpit. I know times will get hard and the Lord wants pure vessels to take the wheel of His church, not woke pastors perverting the scriptures. I have not yet spoken with anyone from the congregation to see their viewpoint, but if they follow a man who shares this poison with the family of God, it's not a good sign. It is healthy for Christians to say something, for them to have a righteous anger when it comes to erroneous teachings. We must use our discernment in these last days because it will get worse for the Christians to discern good and evil. I believe this pastor is deceived, even if he has good intentions.

The Church is located in a rather large building that looks/feels like it used to be a school. It definitely was not originally built as a Church. Having stated that - they have a really nice auditorium where the concert was held. They had a rather large choir, a mini orchestra, as well as lots of other assorted musicians and dancers. The concert was very nice, everyone was full of spirit and energy. You could feel that everyone was enjoying themselves and happy to be there! I would have given my right arm for a youth group like that when I was growing up. Two of my kids however didn't like it, and the third one wanted to like it so bad but was not treated very well by some of the young people. It was incredibly clicky and you were ignored and sidelined if you weren't one of the populars. The church also cared about missions, which is good, but I found they didn't care as much about their local flock. Bad - I noticed over the years that the pastoral staff said things about politics that just didn't jive with Biblical concepts. Over time it became more and more clear that they were believers of the liberal news media. Ugly - the straw that broke the camel's back for me was how incredibly little the music pastor said the Sunday after the Charlie Kirk assassination. All he said was, "well, it's been a tough week." And then went on with the rest of the song service. I was stunned! Many people left when the church put a female pastor in charge, which I wouldn't care about, but she seems to be more of a feminist with woke views. I just couldn't attend there anymore.

The church is small for the number of parishioners there now. If you are not 10-15 minutes prior, you will be standing in the back. We have been there for 3 years and routinely come 20 minutes early. I love this parish, but I'll admit that I do not like the actual chapel one bit. The design of the church is the most convoluted and confused attempt at 60s era multi-use. Much like the saying 'a camel is a horse designed by committee', it seems everyone on the design group got to choose a shape, material, and architectural style. I've spent many, many hours wondering what in the world they were trying to achieve. After 150+ masses, I haven't the foggiest clue. The horrid church is more than made up by the best clergy I've had the fortune of being with in 25 years of military travel. Each priest has a tone and style that is unique and works well. Smiles were all around the room. And no one seemed to judge anyone else. It was just people getting together to pray in a more alternative form. The married couple leading the meditation were wonderful. The guy was very profound in what he said regarding the idea of material separation, and the woman exuded peace (and she sang beautifully). There was a drum circle, singing, and meditating during the session. I'm not one to sing church-type songs or sing with people I've just met in general, but I did enjoy the 30 minutes of meditation with ocean sounds playing in the background. I felt more relaxed when I left, so it achieved that goal! Though I could have done without the singing. The drum circle was really cool though. I enjoyed this meditation, but it's really just for people with an accepting, open mind. And an unrelated thing I learned there: apparently there's a 24-hour hotline you can call to pray with someone over the phone.
