After seeing her one session, she was telling me what I should be doing and what I wasn't doing. She was not asking questions, she was telling me and making accusations, presuming a lot of information and knowledge we hadn't discussed. I let that go, because I needed help. But I should have stop seeing her right then. She continued to seek to use the consoling session to accuse instead of to inquire. It felt like I was being cross examined in a legal case, instead her trying to establish trust and make it a safe environment to help me work through my issues. I wouldn't recommend her. I got very defensive after that, because I did not feel safe, I felt attacked. She couldn't separate herself from our situation, by her own admission, when a consoler is telling you that, run. That means they have their own issues they haven't worked through. It's one thing to have a bad, but professional consoler, than it is to have an unprofessional one that is bringing their on emotional baggage to each session. She even attempted to psychoanalyze my very recently deceased mother's personality traits to abstract some mental diagnoses, and then turn that around against me. My mother passed 01/22/17. She was unprofessional almost from the beginning and ending with her becoming emotional involved and bringing her own emotional baggage to our consoling sessions. She was not helpful, I think she even made the situation worse.

Can I just say, it's so fun and enlightening! I didn't think we'd have fun but it was actually really entertaining and relatable!! I recommend everyone in a serious relationship take this since it's so insightful in all relationships in life! A bonus is $60 off the marriage license, love it!! I was surprised that they had coffee, a welcoming environment and a beautiful place to host the workshops, even the bathrooms were beautiful! Also, for people who aren't religious, we thought they'd be bible thumpers but they fed us snacks and a huge lunch and it was super welcoming without being over bearing religious like we had previously thought. People in our workshop were from all over Texas and drove up: temple, waco, San Antonio to do this, too cool!! Terri and her husband do an amazing job at what they do to deliver a nonfaith based workshop but they do have faith based workshops should you wish to do one where the topic focuses on biblical references. Fun conversations, one or two group activities but mostly exercises focused on you and your significant other, and many movie clips to help set examples of material covered in the workshop help make the state mandated 8 hours fly by. I can see us doing this again in the future after were married to help us solidify and reflect on ourselves as we as people constantly grow and have life experiences always shaping up. Finally, they have intern counselors that offer their help for relationship counseling for free should you need additional conversations! No judgement and positivity all throughout!
