My family has received The Yankee Flyer every week since I was a kid. It is always easy to find whatever you are looking for. Additionally, my husband and I had our own small painting company. During those four years, we ONLY advertised in the Flyer and were busy all year around until we sold the business. I highly recommend this weekly newspaper, even if it is no longer free to receive. I recently placed an ad and tried to cancel it the next work day. They told my "sorry, it's all ready gone through." It was for rental property which I rented shortly after placing the ad. Now I'll have to answer calls to say it's been rented. I am sure they could have cancelled the ad from there end as I didn't even place it on a work day! read more

While I would agree with the previous review that there are a lot of items and services offered in this free publication, the Yankee Flyer does not refuse placing an ad in its paper from an unlicensed contractor. I have raised this issue on a few occasions with one specific contractor, Stage Work Painting. He hasn't maintained a license since 2009. I guess he figures it won't be questioned since the license number is published. Luckily I didn't hire him because I checked him out since he took so long to get proof of insurance. Of course, why would you need insurance if you're not licensed? Apparently his justification is that he's retired. I brought this to their attention almost a year ago and he's still advertising in the paper. A recommendation to those needing a contractor-- make sure you do your own due diligence and don't take the ad at face value. read more
