J & J Quality Construction - Custom cabinetry in a recent bathroom remodel.

J & J Quality Construction

We recently wrapped up an extensive kitchen remodel with J & J Quality Construction, and we…read morecouldn't be happier with the entire experience. The project lasted about five months, and since we were living in the home the whole time, we were a little nervous about how disruptive it might be. J & J went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Every single day, construction debris was picked up, and the crew was extremely conscientious about keeping the space as livable as possible. Communication was outstanding from start to finish. Our contract and timeline were clear, and we received daily or weekly text updates letting us know exactly what was planned for the days ahead. Any question or concern we had--no matter how small--was met with a quick and thoughtful response. It was also obvious that J & J holds their subcontractors to very high standards. Every trade that came through delivered work that met J & J's quality expectations. Before choosing J & J, we met with several other well‑known residential construction companies in the area. Looking back, choosing J & J was absolutely the right decision. They earned our respect and admiration through their professionalism, craftsmanship, and genuine care for both the project and our family's comfort. We highly recommend J & J Quality Construction for any project--from a remodel to a home expansion. You will not be disappointed.

Be forewarned. J&J is more expensive than a cookie cutter Home Depot job, but what you get is…read moreworth it. We had two projects done and they were 100% customizable. We were even able to sit with and adjust the electronic designs in their studio. They subcontracted with a painter who did great work and was really easy to work with. The guys from J&J were responsive and did things when they said they would. We were not super picky, but when we asked them to move a knob or drill an additional hole, they were happy to do it. We are very happy with their work and will go with them next time we want to get something done.

My mom bought a home in Coarsegold where Harold of Mid-State Roofing had "installed" a new roof…read moreabout 4 years ago. Fast forward: less than 3 years later, brown stains start showing up on the drywall ceiling and side wall. Turns out the roof was already leaking, and had been since day one. But because Coarsegold hardly gets rain/snow, the damage went undetected until it was too late. When I called another roofer to inspect, they confirmed what was obvious: 8 vents were incorrectly placed and had potential for leaking. Four spots were already actively leaking. And Harold? When I called him directly, he couldn't have been ruder. Snappy, dismissive, totally unprofessional. He bragged about "guaranteeing" his work but flat-out refused to cover the damage repairs, saying my elderly mother should've "noticed it sooner" and called him right away. Excuse me? If you spend $15,000+ on a brand-new roof, you should be able to leave the home for a year ( heck, for 10 years ) without it springing leaks. Unless a tree falls or a tornado rips through, roofs don't just fail. Unless, of course, it was installed incorrectly. Harold did eventually come by and admitted that two vents were leaking, he fixed those. But then he claimed the other ten vents were perfectly fine. Now ask yourself, who would you believe? The guy whose vents already failed, or the other company that confirmed poor installation across the board? So far, my mom's out over $$$ in drywall and paint repairs on a roof that should've been rock solid. It doesn't matter if the wall repairs cost her $1 or $3000. It should have cost her nothing, and should have never happened. And Harold? All he's guaranteed is that he'll blame his customers instead of owning up to his shoddy, cut-corner work. If you're in a retirement community around here beware, this guy took advantage of my mom, who had just lost her husband, and didn't have the energy to fight him. I've asked a few neighbors if they were informed of the work Harold is putting out and what "guaranteed work" means to Harold... leaks, finger-pointing, and zero accountability. It's not even the residents who hire Harold's company, it's the community management. I spoke with them directly, and found out they got discounts on their own roof for all the "referrals". Which is the community manager just contracting with this one company. And when (not if) the other 10 'properly installed' vents start leaking, I'm sure Harold will find a reason those aren't his fault either, especially after this review. Because, let's face it, accountability is not exactly a 'guarantee' for this guy. The only thing Harold installs properly is excuses. Don't trust this man with your home, your family, or your money.

I recently solicited estimates for a roofing job. Harold came over, looked at the job and put…read moretogether a very reasonable proposal. He was prompt easy to talk to, and local. Although I didn't choose his company, I liked him and would have been my second choice if I hadn't gone with the company I did.
