I was looking for bottles of Stout by Winnipeg brewery Half Pint and the clerk led me to the aisle, then turned over a case and show me the map and hours for the weekly brewery tour (Saturdays at 1pm no reservations needed). How is that for service! Even with all the taxes some of the prices were less than I paid in Seattle for the same Canadian products. Otherwise, the store was clean, well lit, well organized and well stocked. Other states and provinces could learn a lot from how they do it on the corner of Osborne and River.

The staff are laid back, friendly and pretty knowledgeable. The staff acknowledged me when I walked in (unlike another place...*cough* Banville) and the staff gave me my space to browse but also provided good info when I asked them. A very good (not excellent) but acceptable selection of different wines. Most of their wines are in the $12-20 range which works well with most budgets! The store was also pretty much deserted, but that's besides the point. Legal drinking age is 18, which explains why some of the customers looked like highschool kids. The store was clean, and actually had decent beer and wine selection. Then again, I am no connoisseur, so what do I know. If you want local beer, there's a local brewery called Fort Garry. All of their local stuff (all 3 flavours) are on a single tiny little rack. Ask the staff to point it it to you. Can't go wrong with liquor anywhere~
