Since my review was hidden by Google a few months ago I felt the need to try to review the Wig Shop on here. A little back story, I am 38 and I have stage 4B Endometrial/Uterine cancer and undergo a very harsh chemotherapy regimen. I stopped by this shop a couple of days before starting chemo in May of 2023. The experience left me feeling like I wasn't good enough to buy from them. I've copied and pasted my review on Google that has since been hidden, either by the Wig Shop, or Google. I used to own a business and have a partner that does own a business so I am familiar with how reviews can be hidden from the public. I have pasted my original Google review from May 2023 below. (One edit, I've now done the cold capping, and it worked, I still have my hair and did not need a wig ever. I still have one more round of chemo to go, but so far, my hair is still full and beautiful.)
This is hard for me to write so please be patient with me. I was diagnosed with stage four endometrial cancer and have begun chemotherapy treatments. I went to this store on a day I could have someone drive me because most days, I don't even feel like leaving the house. I don't know if the ladies working in the store knew how bad my cancer was, because frankly I don't look sick yet. I recognize that day I wasn't dressed the best, I wasn't prim and proper because earlier that day I had some devastating news, so I chose comfort over the extra effort of putting on my fancy clothes and going shopping.
The ladies working in the store greeted me and asked what they could do to help me. I told them I was starting chemo and was getting ready for hair loss and was looking for a wig. They didn't seem interested in the least, and frankly didn't seem to care in the least. I felt like more of a bother in the store than anything. My friend that was with me is the only reason I even stayed in the store and tried one wig on. I felt like I was more of a bother. When I was asking questions about sizing and things, another lady was working in the store and over heard that I'm trying cold capping to try to save my hair.
Cold capping is extremely expensive, on top of all of my other medical bills, but it provides me hope. Hope that maybe I can save my dignity through chemo, but the other representative working immediately said she's only heard bad things about cold capping and heard it doesn't work. She offered no words of encouragement whatsoever. That hope, even if it is false hope, keeps me going. That day after leaving the Wig Shop, I went in my friends car, and just cried. The tears didn't stop when I got home either. That hope had just been stripped away from me by what I saw as a professional.
I gave a 3 star review because the store is very clean, and while they made me feel hopeless in my hair journey, they did greet me promptly and did let me try on one wig. I would have purchased this wig, but the fit wasn't exactly right and no other size options were offered to me. I would have even ordered one. I had a little over $1,000 budgeted for the purchase of a wig, but I just ended up ordering a wig from wigs.com instead of facing the humility of going into another wig store.
My hope is that I just went to this store on a day that wasn't a good day for either of the ladies working.
Adding in September of 2023, this experience stuck with me all through my cancer battle, and still does. I sincerely pray no other woman going through cancer has had this happen to them at this location. I still look back on this, nearly 6 months later and it still makes me feel worthless. Please think before you speak to someone. I went in with full intentions of spending a decent amount of money on a wig and left with nothing. My cancer battle isn't over yet, and I've spent thousands of dollars on cold capping, it has worked, and my hair is still beautiful. Cancer patients need hope, kindness, and gentleness. I went in this store on one of the worst days of my life, and left feeling even more defeated. read more
