I know how that statement may make some feel and trust I do have familiarity with what the process is like. However, both days the Detention Officer (DO) who assisted me was extremely helpful. She didn't have to be, but she was and it was noticed and appreciated. I had a few issues in obtaining the property of an inmate, it was the DO who helped that made the process a little smoother on my end. Again, of course, no one is happy in having to deal with these types of 'businesses' but it certainly helps alleviate some of the stress when those involved are helpful, as was my instance two days in a row. Thank you Lady, I was finally able to get the items. Sure hope to never be back again, ever.

Most of the staff were rude and the rooms weren't to my standards. The mattresses were thin and worn out and forget about housekeeping, there was none. None of the rooms had a tv but there was one in the lobby. It must have been broken because it was stuck on Disney channel all the time. They served two continental meals and one hot meal per day, I've had better. Most of the other guests were friendly and had some interesting stories to tell. I do not think I will be visiting this resort again in the future.

If you're picking up property, bring a pen, in case they still haven't replaced the one they expect…read moreyou to use that doesn't work. Also, be sure to have the booking number for your person. When I was first introduced to the "systemic" processes involved in incarceration, Intake Transfer and Release (ITR) wasn't even a thing. I'm sure in some ways, it has streamlined aspects of booking and release. For example, if someone is processed, they'll likely be released through ITR. It's also evidently where you go to collect an inmate's property--if the "tank order" has been properly submitted. Although not the same place to pick up property for someone who is no longer in custody. That's a big if, especially given the ongoing staffing shortages. Delays are common, and miscommunication is rampant. Yes, public parking is located in the pickup lot, even for property retrieval. Security staff were kind and helpful, but the Detention Officers (DOs) assisting with property seemed understandably frustrated with the process. When I visited, they told me they hadn't received the tank order that had supposedly been submitted the previous week. I asked for clarification and got little more than a shrug. The MCSO website states the public must bring the tank order to property pickup--but according to staff, that's outdated information. Something felt off, so I went to the jail myself to retrieve the tank order. When I returned to ITR with it, a more informed DO finally explained what had happened. Here's the thing--not every inmate is a repeat offender who understands this complex, often contradictory system. My loved one is a first-time detainee with no knowledge of these procedures. In this case, confusion was made worse by the fact that he was immediately placed under a 72-hour watch and never informed that he could release cash in his possession to an outside party. There's a 24-hour window to do this--but if you're under watch and no one tells you, how would you know? According to a supervising DO, many staff members are new and still learning the process themselves. Unfortunately, this leads to inconsistent information being given to the public--often confidently, but incorrectly. In my experience, some DOs would rather pass on misinformation than admit they're unsure or ask someone more knowledgeable. This creates a troubling cycle: inaccurate information is passed down and repeated until someone takes the time to correct it--if ever. Bottom line: ITR is one of those places no one wants to be, but you might find yourself needing to go there anyway. If you do, be patient, double-check everything, and trust your gut when something feels off. You may have to advocate harder than seems reasonable--but you're not alone in that.

However, since the pandemic much has changed and this 2025 a lot more has changed. I was very disappointed with my last visit 2weeks ago. They have a sign posted (registered appointment line up here (left side) and non registered appointments line up here (right side). I drove a senior to the office and there were no lines, she only needed an award form. The representative on the phone said go in and explain what you need. To our surprise and dismay both security officers turned us away and said go online and make an appointment. One of the main issues is many seniors are not technology savvy and need a human being to assist them. Immediately I had to call SSA, wait 15 minutes (thank goodness), to ask the representative to mail her the form needed. I will say it has enough security features / barriers inside that you can't just walk in. The Front office security definitely needs to show a little more respect and kindness and towards people in general entering the office. Yes, I know they run into people who are aggressive, upset and have bad behavior but they should not taken that attitude towards everyone else who arrives for assistance. Sadly the government is starting to make all federal agencies worse. Jesus help us

That's the best example in can give. What needs to improve?.....Everything. Staff retraining, medical staff screened, dietary review, program coordinating. The pod I was on was over 120 girls on bunk beds in one room. There where fruit flies all times of the day covering the toilets, vents, drains, and bunk beds. The issue or black mold exposure is real and putting women at risk for sure. Eight showers in one room, eight toilets in another, and that's where flash backs or Hitler documentaries and concentration camps flash before my eyes.. No curtains or doors,no privacy. You eat on your bunk, live on your bunk, during my week stay we never even were given the option of an hour of reck time for fresh air even once. There are no programs available besides GED except in your tablet which I couldn't take advantage of because I was never provided headphones even though I wrote multiple requests for them. Medical treatment is scary here, I watched many women become sickly during my stay, symptoms not taken seriously, illnesses being overlooked. The way the staff address the inmates is constantly demeaning and ignorant, in could go as far as say almost as inhumane as what were served every night for dinner.. That's the biggest difference I recognized between this jail and corp civic in Florence. I can't believe it was acceptable to staff to crack jokes on inmates for missing teeth, being overweight, or struggling from withdrawal. It's was just a big joke to the officers, everything was. You have to do chores to get a clean outfit...leaving withdrawing women without a blanket or sheet and in the same soiled clothes even after begging for help. You are fed twice a day,the same meal every day is served for both breakfast and dinner; I pray for the women who have been sitting in county for years. If most of the women in here either struggle with mental issues or addiction I don't see how sentencing someone to experience a situation like this can help them to improve their lifestyle or become a better functioning member of society.
