So... I have had low back pain/soreness for honestly at least the last 2 years... I started an exercise routine hoping it would help but if anything it made my back tighter. I decided well, why not try out Acupuncture. My parents have both had success in the past relieving back pain and personally as someone who saw a Chiropractor for many years, I knew this wasn't something they could help with. I also did not want to do Physical Therapy because I was incorporating various stretches into my routine which weren't helping in the long run anyway (great for short term relief). I decided to check my health insurance coverage first and yay for coverage plus I found Wellness Center as a provider that accepted it. That being said, they also provide a discount if you don't have insurance, I believe it's $85 for an initial visit and $70-$75 for each follow up, not very expensive at all! (I pay a $45 copay each visit).
I've been to see Dr. Kelly 4 times now, the 5th visit coming up this week and she is a MIRACLE WORKER. I did google and find that it doesn't hurt to believe the acupuncture will work either so go in with an open mind! After my first visit, i honestly have never felt so relaxed and was pain free for the next couple of days (I finally was able to sleep through the night and trust me it's been 2+ years since that's happened). That being said, i knew it would take a few visits for the pain to subside completely or at a manageable level. The 2nd and 3rd visits were just as effective, with the results lasting 3-5 days each. Last week's visit was the game changer, I've felt little to no back pain since my visit and I've been sleeping AMAZINGLY and i feel 10000% better all the way around. I have since developed different pain in my low back (different location) however this is due to my exercise routine, which I plan to address at this week's visit. The fact of the matter is, Dr. Kelly's treatment WORKS and immediately and effectively. I know that I will drop down to every other or monthly visits soon, but for now I enjoy it. It's like a spa day to be honest, she ends every treatment with a short massage and it's wonderful. Don't be afraid of the acupuncture needles, I rarely if at all feel them go in (if there is a particularly painful spot usually i will feel that 1 needle but that is it!) and i'm asleep within minutes! It's the best hour of my week!! I highly recommend Dr. Kelly, she has great bedside manner and she is a miracle worker, my life has changed for the better because of her. read more
