Holiday Inn Express & Suites Port Arthur Central-Mall Area - Home for the night

I stayed here from Thursday to Saturday morning. This overall has been frustrating. There was a…read moresmall bug in my room first night. The person at the counter was rude and unfriendly. Wouldn't even say hello or respond to a simple greeting. When I came back after being gone all day I stopped at the counter for toilet paper and towels so no one would have to come up nor have to go to room on 3rd floor then come back down. I was told I had to go up, get any used towels, bring them back down, wait in line, then I could get new towels. That's is stupid and horrible customer service. I was trying to make it easy but this is insane. You want the dirty towels then send someone up to get them. I did it once. I can't see me staying here again, then I had to put them in a bag given to me. There is a sign in the room to call down for anything you need. I didn't try but do not believe that to be true. Some minor things, the channel list is partly incorrect, the TV sometimes goes pixelated. Really the bed is okay. Breakfast is better then similar places. The employees I and my family spoke to were unhelpful and rude. When my other family members were getting ready for noon check out the cleaning crew hung out around the rooms and even went into my sister's room three times even after being told not to. Truly disappointed in this as i have had some good experiences with holiday Inn. There are a ton of hotels in this same few block radius You have options. Choose a better one.

Great people. We stay here a lot and they accommodate us every time with late check-outs and having…read morethe breakfast out before we go to work. They clean our rooms daily. They accommodate our night shift in the cleaning of rooms as well.

Here today! After…read morereading their Yelp reviews all I could do was hope for the best and make up in my mind which included sleep and a good hot shower being the goal. 1 thing I know, 2 for sure THE BREAKFAST was DELICIOUS! When I checked in, the 1st thing I asked was the location of my room, guess where it was? Across from the elevator smh, I give up. Can someone who works in hospitality dm me and enlighten me on how the rooms are assigned? The 2nd thing I asked was what time was breakfast and was it good? The lady stated it's good, no powder eggs nor microwaved meat. That was funny because I'll simply eat a bowl of cereal and yogurt if that's the case. There was plenty of bus and truck parking being that the hotel sits off the frontage road of hwy 69 in Port Arthur and I was highly relieved being that I arrived around 11 o'clock p.m. The hotel had a bar that was still open for those that could use a nigh cap to unwind. Also, the hotel offered a limited late night menu which definitely was a plus. The room was really nice offered a comfy bed including Dove shower products, the place gave home away from home vibes when it comes to hotels. For an individual whose job consists of workstations (work/vacation), mentally it's therapeutic to have a nice hotel to settle in for the evening, ESPECIALLY breakfast. BREAKFAST was ON POINT, I KNEW it had to be African Americans in the kitchen! I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT, especially being in the country boarding Louisiana. I smelled the breakfast in the air vent as I was guided from my room, down the elevator to the dining hall. Who else looks under each lid before they make a plate? MEEE! As I was making my plate, the male cook came from the kitchen to see what needed to be refreshed. Also, the kitchen staff was restocking because this Holiday Inn Port Arthur is home for out of state Bus Operators for the refineries. Dang I thought to myself, I bet dinner was just as filling. Anywho, looking at their low reviews it was due to the remodeling of the hotel. I'm sure as the summer gets underway this hotel will continue in a positive direction. I myself give them 5 stars for: 1. Professional Staffing 2. Accommodations 3. Bus, truck parking 4. Breakfast 5. Late night real food +,+,+ Here today! Yelping tomorrow!

I can't believe that this hotel is even allowed on hotels.com. I trust hotels.com to help me find…read moresomewhere to stay when I am out of town. However this place was not habitable. The building is under construction and should not be allowed to be open while under construction. While our room appeared to have already been "remodeled", it was done so with the cheapest material they could possibly find. If I had to guess where they got the decor I would say maybe Kmart if those still existed. However, it was worse than that. All the pictures of the hotel are very deceiving. They did a horrible job remodeling, my 10 year old could have done a better job and the elevators are so disgusting with the carpet on the walls and the filthy floors. Then there was a live tick in our bed. It was 12:30am so we stayed for one night and then got the heck out of there. This hotel should be banned from being open, and I am completely shocked that hotels.com would allow it to be on their site. This will definitely make it hard for me to trust you again.
