I really enjoyed coming here to South Mountain Park and taking out the swan paddle boats. The cost is $17 for two people in a swan, or $21 for four people in a swan. My girlfriends and I decided all four of us would go in one swan so we could all be together and have more fun. It is mandatory you wear a mask until you get in the boat, once you paddle out,you don't have to wear the mask only when you return back to the dock. All the life preservers are sprayed and hosed down completely and then dried before they're handed out due to Covid. Every single person that goes on the boat must wear a life preserver jacket. This swan paddle boat is very easy to maneuver. The people in the front of a four person paddle boat have to peddle. The people in the back just get to relax. In the middle is a hand control to help you steer left or right. You can paddle out and then stop and then drift, or you can paddle the whole time. It's nice because they don't allow too many swans out at once. It was a beautiful clear day, and the weather was perfect.

I went to the lake and paddle boat area on Friday. The paddle boat is now open. Wearing a mask is mandatory during this pandemic. I didn't partake in the paddle boat. I instead sat near the lake and watched people enjoy themselves on the boat. Hanging out by the lake is a definite must during this pandemic. It's spacious and lots to do for the kids. There is a playground and outdoor seating. Great place to have a picnic or walk your dog.

Gorgeous park like setting with walking path around a lake!

Really friendly staff gave the kids a scavenger hunt page that turned our visit into part garden tour, part treasure hunt. Between the terraces, tile work, grottoes, and gardens, the whole place blends European formality with a whimsical, art nouveau vibe. Plenty of benches invite you to sit and talk, while fenced-in chickens, geese, and beehives bring the grounds to life. The gardens feel peaceful, playful, and magical all at once. The beauty here is truly un-beleaf-able! NOTES/TIPS: **Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors/students, and $5 for kids, with free parking close by. **Very limited wheelchair-accessibility: okay for the Main Terrace and some flat areas, but most paths are sloped or uneven, so access is limited. **Restrooms near the entrance.

It is definitely somewhere to go for a romantic date . The only issue I found with the place is that we couldn't find the gift shop or the little concession stand - coffee and snack . That was disappointing. Also staff is friendly but doesn't seem to be very good at giving directions . Aside from that it is such a beautiful place to visit

In a plot twist of good fortune, we happened to be going to the very same park wherein my job is holding a walk! None of this is necessary to the review but neat! We stumbled upon these paddle boats that float along the reservoir, and obviously we couldn't say no on a beautiful weekend day. For a very reasonable price (and they take credit), we hopped in our life jackets and the kind staff sent us on our way. Paddle boating is tougher than I thought! Both parties in the front do a little spin class to get it moving, and in between is a singular handle that moves you left or right. It controls the flap behind you, so moving it right moves the boat left, and vice versa. The opposite controls took some time to figure out, but once we were moving, it was a breeze. The views were great! We had purchased a half hour ticket, which felt like a reasonable time to float around. We somehow managed to paddle our way back to the dock, and the kind gentleman helped us out and on our way! Pretty good way to spend some time in nature(ish)!
