Vitamin Shoppe, Ann Arbor
Theresa T.

I've been making an extra effort to only shop at locally owned businesses, however I stopped by The Vitamin Shoppe over my lunch break out of sheer convenience and FELL IN LOVE with the staff! I walked in with an idea of what I wanted, but had a bazillion questions, and I hate to say this - I assumed the staff would be a bunch of unknowledgeable, apathetic stinkers. I have run into those types of staff members at the larger chains and have found them to be pretty lame. Not at the A2 Vitamin Shoppe! I walked in and asked one of the floor staff where something was and he walked me over to the section and was a wealth of information. As we walked together to the cash register, I noticed that he was the manager. His name was Al and he was a total sweetheart. I looked around and noticed other "team members" very much involved with the clientele and felt a very cool vibe coming from the place. I rarely ever sign up to be on any sort of list in terms of store promotions, but I found myself giving "Al" my email address and actually looking forward to receiving the stuff I usually disregard as Spam. It's a great spot in town and I highly recommend it, as long as they continue to educate the staff and push outstanding customer service.

I love Better Health Store. The customer service is consistently great. While there are not always…read morea lot of employees available to assist throughout the store, it is a smaller, boutique style space, so that is understandable. When you do ask for help, the staff is usually very knowledgeable and happy to share insight on products and their benefits, which I really appreciate. They offer an impressive variety of health and holistic wellness options. Many of the products they carry are items you will not easily find at most stores, which makes this place feel thoughtfully curated. I especially like their selection of sea moss options and the different variations available. The store is on the pricier side, but that aligns with the quality and uniqueness of the products. What helps balance that out is their free membership program. You can sign up at no cost and receive member pricing and discounts, which honestly feels like a no brainer. Having both member and non member pricing is helpful, and the savings definitely add up over time. I also love that they have an in store cafe where you can order food and drinks. Their beverage and snack options lean toward the healthier side, and there are plenty of good choices to grab while shopping. Parking is easy since the store is located in a plaza with plenty of spaces. It is also conveniently located across the street from Whole Foods and near another major grocery store, which makes it easy to combine errands. While they do not carry every brand, they do carry a strong selection of quality health focused brands. Overall, this is one of my go to spots for wellness products, healthy snacks, and holistic options. It is a great store if you value quality, variety, and knowledgeable staff.

I had their fresh lentil soup which was incredible and had my favorite energy drinks here too. Took home some new products. What I got dissapointed at was their bargains at the entrance. The staff apparently didn't bother to check some of their products but some of the food on clearance has been expired for months! Regardless that I spent $2 and it wasn't much. It's something that shouldn't be overlooked. I do like the friendly staff and willing to give this place a second chance.

I was going to visit my sister in Saline for lunch. I left early because I wanted to find another…read moreway there besides using I-94. I meandered my way on M-12 business through the lovely city of Ypsilanti. I wanted to go by my favorite Homegoods so I needed to find Carpenter Road. By using Ellsworth I came across a GNC in the Roundtree Place shopping center. It's a modest center anchored by a Walmart. it also has a Fantastic Sam's, a Game Stop, a Sally's, a check cashing place, a Chinese restaurant, and some other stores I couldn't remember. Since I needed some ear candles and I knew GNC usually has them I stopped in at opening. Peter, the associate, was working on a display at the front of the store. I asked him if he had them and he did. Because he was so easy to talk to, meaning he wasn't one of the usual meathead lunks that GNC employs. I told him about my Vitamin World visit the previous day and why I wouldn't go back there. Peter had alot of customer service experience and it showed. As we got to talking he told me about why he got into GNC (for the sake of his new baby girls he wanted to get into shape) and I told him how 20 years of retail had done havoc on my body. We discussed several things that might help. He was bright, knowledgeable and ready with advice and good tips. I may have gone in for one thing but after talking to Peter, I will be back. He thinks that he can get my regime in gear! Look out, world! I'll be looking good!
