My Husband and I spent one of our honeymoon nights here and it was truly the #1 night of our 2 week trip. First of all, it is breathtaking. The views from this spot are amazing. Initially we were staying closer to the city of Mendoza but I am SO grateful we took the drive to Casa de Uco. It was completely worth it if even only for the views of the Andes. There is even a little glass room that has a couch where you can take in all the beautiful vistas of the mountain. The staff was also incredible. When we arrived we had no plans for the next few days so we asked the staff if they had any recommendations. By the time we came down for dinner they had booked us 4 winery tours, 2 lunches and a dinner! And each of those reservations panned out amazingly! You dont often find that kind of hospitality in the states. There was also so much to do around Casa De Uco. We went on an awesome horseback ride around the grounds and our guide Martin was so fun to hang with! They gave us some really great wine as a gift for our special occasion. There is also a game room with some books and a pool table which we played for a bit while we waited for dinner.

This is a very approachable and safe place to stay in downtown Tupingato if you are in the area…read more Make sure you understand this is a small, small hotel. The rooms are like matchboxes - barely enough room to walk around the beds, no chairs and you pretty much have to sit in the main breakfast area to drink beverages as that is what you agreed to when you sign in. They don't want anybody spilling wine on their nice white comforters in the bedroom. The air conditioning works well, meaning it is very cold, but our room number seven had a problem with it where it seemed like it was not able to get the air out and making a really weird noise all night long. It required earplugs to block out the noise It is in the center part of town and it pretty much dies late at night and because the rooms are all interior and none face the street it is very quiet. Breakfasts are very adequate and unlike most places they offer cheese and ham as well as torticas which are basically baked discs of pie dough which are tastier than they sound. They also have a few spreads - lije dulce de leche, peach jam, fresh fruit, bread, Kiefer which is liquid yogurt, hot cocoa powder, hot milk, coffee and tea. The staff is super nice and goes out of their way to help you get glasses, open your wine or beer etc. We needed to get our rental car exchanged and they made the phone call and help us coordinate that. The only reason I cannot give them five stars if they were not clear at all on their reservation form regarding payment method - they claim that they can only take cash - however it says nothing to that effect on the reservation form. Also, in Argentina all hotels for foreigners are required to not charge the IVA tax if the person pays with a credit card or debit card. They tried to tell us that they could not accept debit cards and that they would still get charged the same as a credit card. Bottom line they were trying to keep the IVA tax for themselves and we did not stand for it since we had a written paper ftom thethat showed saying that they were supposed to get the 21% I VA returned to us.

The location is definitely off the beaten path and a bit hard to find at first but we really loved having the view of the vineyards all around the hotel. My son ordered the ribeye, med rare, it came medium to medium well. So the waitress takes it back to kitchen. She comes back with another steak and this one was so rare, hardly even cooked. I've almost finished my dinner. And she brings him another steak. And it too was over cooked. So he didn't even get a steak here. Also we sat by a pond that was filled with Algae. The tables were falling apart. I could peel off strips of the fake wood. Geez put a tablecloth on them. It's unfortunate because we were really looking forward to it. Extremely large operation. The reception area, wine bar with patio, wine shop, art studio and…read morerestaurant are all in the main building. The winery itself for the Salentein brand is across the main building after crossing through merlot and pinot noir vineyards. The winery space is very cool literally and figuratively. It is all concrete (with face brick) with wide open spaces and built 10 meters into the ground. It has three levels, the top had some wine displays and maybe offices, a first basement had the stainless and cask fermenters and a third level - the cave- further down had a wide open circular room they use for concerts with a small grand piano. It us acoustically perfect supposedly and a center spot in the middle reverberates back to yourself so it sounds amplified. The winery tour was very informative although they would not allow us to see any if the active grape crushing. They allowed us to taste three wines - a chardonnay blend, a malbec and a cabernet franc. For $22US it was a bit pricey and they would not even give us the glass! If you want to eat at the restaurant or fo a wine tasting you MUST have a reservation. The restaurant had seats for over 100, 6 were taken and they said it was all reserved. When we left one and a half hours later the restaurant was not even half full and they were closing in less than sn hour. Looks like they did not have enough servers so they limited how many they would serve. The wine bar itself is at the corner of the building with a nice patio that has sofas for two and low tables. One side is very windy and the other is more blocked from the wind and the both look over the winery and the corderilla of the Andes. Here again you may run into trouble if you want to have a tasting and he'll have a reservation. However, you can order anything from the restaurant menu and have it served to you they're in a much more relaxed setting with a great view. We tried the sweet breads which were crispy fried and placed on top of garlic focaccia with the sweet sauce and some greens. It was delicious and our first try at sweetbreads which are mollejas here and I nearly every restaurant menu. The second item we ordered was the grilled provolone cheese they call provoleta here. It was perfectly crisp on the outside with herbs and some greens and what they like to serve with here which are roasted, grilled tomatoes. It was very delicious and the cheese was perfectly crispy. To start they brought out a small bread basket with little loaves that had dark seeds in them and some breadsticks that were served with a cream of olives. It sounds strange but it had the essence of olives in a aioli type spread. The service was very nice and you could order any of the dishes from the restaurant there as well. Here they also do tastings which of course need a reservation but you could order any of their wines by the glass or bottle as well. The wine shop was very large and attended by a friendly gentleman who is very knowledgeable and helpful. They had all sorts of very interesting knickknacks and wine related articles as well as umbrellas and even books. If you set yourself up for a tour, wine tasting and lunch you could spend four or five hours here in a very beautiful setting.
