As a fourth year student at Strathclyde Uni, it's always been easier to run to the Uni cafes between classes to pick up a sandwich or juice. The Venue cafe,.otherwise known as the 'Livvy tower' cafe, is ideally situated at the bottom of one of the busiest places on campus, and somewhere where i have had at least 80% of my classes at Uni.
The cafe itself is pretty big, with window seats and couches, comfy chairs at some of the tables and the usual hard seating at others. There is also a seperate room where you can go to eat packed lunches which is handy as there is scarcely anywhere to do that at Uni except from outside! Plus that extra part is the comfiest, with big couches, and they always have the heating on.
The food is...well, just your run of the mill, below par student food, toasties and rolls and bagels all kept in the small fridge, plenty of drinks and bottled water, a good crisp and cake selection and even warm cookies made daily (which are pretty good)
The worst thing here is the soup, which is god-awful, and tastes a bit like dishwater no matter what kind it is supposed to be. You could also kill a man if you threw the bread rolls at him, they are rock solid.
In my opinion, it's waaaay overpriced for a student cafe, although they do meal deals now for £2.90, but as a rule, a sandwitch, cake and juice wills set you back a fiver. Far too dear.
Great meeting point for lunch, but as for the soup...you have been warned. read more
