I lived there for three years, and they never cleaned the hallways. They only clean the model of the show to potential renters. Services are poor. And the place is unsafe due to unlocked gates. The pool is gooey. They charge $5 for late fees. the garbage is constantly overflowing. disgusting Wrong place. I don't recommend it. read more

This is the filthiest apartment complex I've ever set foot in. Live here if you like to smell, see, and touch animal poop and pee constantly. The grounds, stairs, and hallways are only cleaned once a year. People let their dogs crap in the hallway constantly, other people step in it and wipe it all over the floor, and nobody ever cleans it up. People throw their food trash down the stairwell. The small yard for animals is so saturated in piss you can't breathe if you walk past it. The hallways are covered in yellow pollen and dust. People spit and spill drinks in the halls. NONE of this is EVER cleaned. You cannot walk through the hallway of floor 2 right now without stepping on dog feces, it's smeared everywhere that badly. The same dog turds have been chilling in the hall for weeks. I started taking a new route to walk to avoid the majority of the dog shit but now it's covered too so nowhere is safe. The same piece of chicken was at the top of the stairwell so long that people ended up kicking it all the way to the bottom. The same coffee cup has been dangling from the staircase all year. The garbage can isn't big enough for everyones trash so it overflows onto the ground where you're supposed to drive. The place looks like a dump so it encourages people to treat it like one. The other day someone just shoved a rotten orange between the handrail and the wall for no reason. I don't even blame them honestly. If you're a drunk teen you'd probably mistake this place for a trash can. This is a 5 story building with no elevator and one handicapped spot per floor so it is not welcoming to anyone in a wheelchair. The hallways are open to the air so pollen and roaches always get in. Maintenance sucks. There is TONS OF MOLD all over the walls above the shower and as a solution maintenance came in, didn't clean it, spackled over it and repainted it. The front office and shared space are kept beautiful to trick visitors into living there. The location is convenient due to it being close to things but it's not even safe to walk to those things. There are aggressive panhandlers, muggers, and cars who speed and disregard crosswalks. The sidewalks are completely decrepit and you cant even walk on them in some areas because they are blocked by telephone poles or dumpsters. Now they just introduced the world infamous rental scooters that run out of battery and are ditched in the middle of sidewalks constantly. Again, if you have a physical handicap don't even try coming here, it won't work. If you drive, it's hard to get on Dalrymple because the most popular Canes in the world doesn't have a drive through lane so everyone just stops in the middle of the road and makes it so that nobody can traverse the intersection. I wish I was exaggerating this. They just opened a new bar (Murphys) right next to the complex and it's like tigerland. It's basically a bar for sororities and frats. I decided to write this review now because I've been laying awake for 2 hours listening to people revving their engines, laying on their horn, screaming, and blasting music. In the morning there are empty bottles and cans in the grass in front of the place. Just don't move in here. Don't even come visit. read more

This is our second year here. Great place for a college student! anything that required fixing was always done in a timely manner. Honestly I really have no dog in this fight but I lived there from December 2004 until August of 2006 .i was one of the first people to ever live there and got an apartment with new construction. So I knew everything that had happened in that apartment cause obviously it was me. However, the others moved in and then problems started. It felt like my high school but just a long sleepover. Parents paying the way for their kids to live in mayhem on their dime. The kids, as I called them because if ur gonna act that way then you earn ur title, acted like spoiled little brats. I saw them poor beer, hard liquor, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, kool aid anything and everything else u can imagine into the pool. A brand new construction pool and I swam in that pool only once when I was one of the few residents that had access. And THEN the kids came and I saw what they did to the pool and wouldn't go in there what ? 20 years ago? And certainly now...I do not recommend going in. From all the other comments people have left? The property went only down hill and when I lived there I saw it coming.....just spoiled rich kids with no respect for others or property because it's not their money paying their way. Therefore responsibility is not instilled into them. All the kids went home for a month between fall/spring semester and most for the summer. The only time I was at peace was when they were at home. Not everyone had their parents paying but MOST were and they acted like immature children in adult bodies. I honestly felt for them. The water did smell like rotten eggs but they treated mine and it bounced back. That smell is just sulfur.... But is unpleasant. The gates were never secured and I told the office but I see they are still "working on it."The staff was cocky from the start except for when I signed the lease but it was a completely different leasing agency so....it didn't count. They acted helpfully in the beginning as long as I only asked questions. I know I was no princess of a resident to deal with....don't get me wrong...but I didn't get along with the office because they loved their position of power and used it when they could also I caught them in a major lie. Garbage was a problem 20 years ago and I see no improvement. The place was trashed 20 years ago from the first tenants present in new construction and i just wouldn't ever go back unless I was in a bio suit. Their pictures (on website of their units!) are very very deceiving and are of remodeled "showcase" apartments, don't fall for it. There was an off duty cop living there when I was there but he was sleeping with a college kid and wasn't discreet about any of it either. I think the fire department completely stopped answering to the fire alarm because people kept pulling it ALL THE TIME!!! Who does that?? Honestly how immature do u have to be....like I said I have no dog in this fight ....but reading everyone's accounts??? It was like that since day 1 except now? 20 years of the same thing!!! I asked people how the venue was doing and people would quickly reply "it's completely trashed and should be section 8" and some people said section 8 had better facilities and places to live. I do not suggest any parent to help fund their children to live there!!! I gave it 2 stars and that was what I rate them from the beginning....hitting the ground running they failed!! So much room for improvement and growth and property management and??? NOTHING!! Not surprised! And I had a brand new building to live in and reside there for it's first occupancy and by April of the Venues first year having tenants? It had been marked. The showers were nice then because it was industrial heater so if u wanted to sit and have an hour shower? Go! The carpet was white!! I saw its destiny before moving in. And I didn't allow people to wear their shoes on my carpet! It still turned black. The washer/dryer were nice but then I had new equipment. The cables and internet were good....we even received free hbo and cable from them and it was the few places that had electricity during and after Katrina. Mostly because it was hooked up with the LSU grid and LSU had to be online etc. especially since they were running a temporary mash unit after Katrina. The only good thing about my stay there was my situation of being its first residents....everything else?? It was noisy when school was in session....got woken up at strange hours all the time! If you move here, I strongly advise you not to, and that's based on its atmosphere 20 years ago which they never handled properly and it sounds worse now....police are called regularly, trash, trash, trash!! Rude inconsiderate staff....just ewe!! I saw what kids did to brand new facilities and construction... I query the improvements. read more

The location is great! Close to LSU, several food options, CVS. The internet service pretty impressive considering the size of the building. Rarely have issues streaming or gaming. They host a lot of resident events, usually with free food, which is nice. By far the best thing about the Venue is the staff. The GM is super available and easy to talk to. The maintenance staff are efficient and quick to adress issues. The office staff are just awesome. It may not be perfect, problems occur just as they do in any other apartment. I have found, however, that the staff at the Venue adress issues asap and continue working with you to insure a resolution. read more

If you are considering The Venue Apartments, PLEASE READ THIS! On August 19, 2016, I moved my son into a second floor two-bedroom apartment at The Venue. It was immediately apparent that maintenance and cleaning was NOT a high priority for this property. The front door appeared to have dried vomit on it, the tile floors were filthy, baseboards were missing from the kitchen, shelving was broken off the wall in some of the closets, and doorknobs were broken off. The provided internet LAN was completely NON-FUNCTIONAL for over a week. All of these issues were documented and reported to management. I returned today, Sept. 5, 2016, to visit my son and what I saw at The Venue property (as evidenced in the posted pictures) was nothing short of APPALLING! None of the reported repairs were performed in my son's apartment, and now water was leaking through the kitchen ceiling from the apartment above. Garbage and trash was stacked at least six feet high by twelve feet wide on each of the three floors of the parking garage next to inoperative dumpster shoots. The garbage was overflowing down the stairs with bags split open and RATS running through the trash and carrying chicken bones down the stairs and throughout the parking garage. Flies and maggots were everywhere, and the stench was overwhelming. The garage stairwells were completely blocked with garbage, and these stairwells also serve as fire exits. This scene was HORRIFIC, and a law suit ready to happen. If that wasn't bad enough, I walked around the pool area and what I witnessed there was just as filthy. The pool was CONTAMINATED with algae, dirt and scum, and showed no evidence of being cleaned in weeks. No filtration was running, and the pool water was stagnant with mosquito larvae. The pool was UNFIT for residents to swim in and needs to be shut down immediately. I walked around the property to find management to report this to and there was no one to be found. Considering the high rent ($1,740/mth) The Venue charges, this scene is completely UNACCEPTABLE, and indicative of poor management and disregard for maintenance and the general safety of the students living on the property. I will be contacting management tomorrow to address the above, and additionally, the filth, garbage, rats, and contaminated pool will be reported to the Board of Health and the Baton Rouge local Code Enforcement Office. I have been a resident of this complex since January of 2017 and ever since the new management took over the company, it has not been the same. Quality has gone down TREMENDOUSLY. Staff is very unhelpful/unaware of situations that go on around the complex. I put in a work order for a bathroom issue on August 10th, 2020 and I have followed up THREE times to them telling me there is one maintenance person working on orders by building instead of going in the order they were put in. At this point, they are more concerned with the outward appearance of the buidling (which was supposed to start/finish last year) and they are still not done. Having grounds/paint/roofing crew out on the building and banging on everything as early as 7 am. Here is also a picture of trash that is outside on the stairwell of the garage as of yesterday. The only thing this place has going for it is that it is close to LSU's campus. Minus that, this place is not worth the unprofessional staff, untimely manner of maintenance, and the overall quality of the units. Do not let a new coat of paint on the building fool you... simply put, this is a wolf in sheep's clothing. read more

You may be thinking of signing a lease with this place but I do recommend you to stop. These people are no trustworthy. Whatever you hear from them is a lie. The complex has the best location but the WORST MANAGEMENT ever. My friend had a smoker roommate despite explicitly explaining her preference for a nonsmoker roommate. She went through a lot and only after LSU's legal interference they changed her room. Also, we were told that in order to break the lease we only need to pay one rent, however this a lie they make you pay as long as your lease is going. Be smart find another place... read more

This complex has the best location and the WORST Property MANAGEMENT I've ever experienced!!! We just moved my daughter and her roommate into the most disgusting apartment. It looked like 2 college guys lived in this unit for 2 years, didn't clean ever, moved out, and this management team did not touch this unit and allowed us to move in! It was disgusting! Every aspect of the apartment was filthy! My daughter's toilet was broken, with Water pouring out on the floor. We've reported this issue on the 1st. Day, as well as many other issues which are still pending. Checking in / move in process was great. The staff is friendly however, they blamed a contractor for not cleaning / turning over the apartments, well I'm not buying it and since this seems to be our only recourse, I'm submitting this review! We had a horrible experience moving in! We had to scrub clean the entire apartment to live here. 1 week later, still waiting and management is still blaming contractors and the amount of service tickets they have in back-log (200 was mentioned). This is not how you run a property folks! read more

Lived here for less than a year and they have redone the roof twice now for no reason. I've been woken up earlier than 8 AM every morning for 2 weeks now by people banging on my roof. Not to mention theres no way for visitors to get into the parking garage without somebody manually opening the gate by walking close enough to use their clicker. Then they can't get into my building so I have to walk all the way down the hall just to let them get into my building. These people have no idea what they are doing. read more

I live in a studio and love how cozy it is and how safe I feel living there! It's so close to campus and lots of places to eat:)

Do not move to the Venue!! Maintenance is non existent. Pool grounds are nasty, and unclean. Garbage situation out of control Slow and intermittent internet at best! There is no elevator. read more

Don't waste your time with The Venue. It's one of the worst run apartment complex In Baton Rouge. The front office always catches attitude whenever a resident has an issue and they don't care at all about the upkeep and safety of the apartment. My first example is that there's a gate right behind the garage that has been open for four years (since the first year I lived here). I've told multiple previous managers about it and have even told the regional manager but nothing has been done. They've always given me the excuse that it's used by the landscaping people and they must be "leaving it open". So, instead of just going to close it and locking it they just give me excuses. This leads to my next point... my freshman year I had to move apartments because someone tried to break into my room through my window. There were handprints left on my window and they STILL didn't lock the gate. I have plenty more to tell but I feel as if that's enough to make my point. read more

Overall good quality. Close to campus and nice facilities. We had some trouble at the beginning of semester with Internet and other facilities. It's way, way overpriced if you're a struggling undergraduate. But being so close to campus is nice when you don't have a car. And you can literally walk to get any food or basic grocery needs. True, you deal with the smell of weed in the hallways ( at least on my floor) and the neighbors next door partying it up late at night when you have an exam the next morning. So it's a glorified dorm. Not terrible, but not the best. read more

Literally one of the worst and most frustrating places to live. When I first moved in, me and my roommate were given such a disgusting apartment. It was not cleaned at all, there were paint splotches everywhere. We immediately complained to the people in the office and were given a different apartment for a discounted price. This apartment was much bigger and looked a lot nicer. However I constantly had issues with my toilet, maintenance came to "fix" it multiple times to no avail. One morning I woke up and thought the shower was running, I ran to the bathroom to look and something broke in my toilet and water was flooding my bathroom and my room. People immediately came to fix it, however I couldn't sleep in my room for 3 days because there were vents getting the water out of my carpet. After moving out they had to clean my carpet and charged my roommate for it, even though it was their fault for never properly fixing my toilet. They also would never give us a heads up when entering our apartment to do things. We asked multiple times, as well as our parents, if they could let us know before they would come. As two 18 year old girls, it's a little scary having unknown people enter your apartment without any prior knowledge. A lot more happened than this, but i'm tired of typing about a place that caused me so much anger. read more

I have lived in the Venue for two years now. The location is the best you can get without living on campus, and the staff is very nice and receptive. Overall a great living experience read more

Need to care more about residents issues. Location is fantastic. Size is ok and not so clean. Price is good relatively. I renewed my lease .

The Venue has been great, it's location to campus is its best feature and the rooms are nice too. I highly recommend living here, I've renewed my lease. read more

Very great location, but it takes very long for any maintenance orders to be responded to. We havent had a working dryer since school started. I think someone is fixing it today, so that's great! Otherwise, very nice place. read more

This place is a terrible place to live. Don't fall into the trap of living here because it's so close to campus. Even if you have to drive from a different apartment complex, it will be better than living here. I pay around $700 a month for my half of the apartment and I'm paying that much to basically live in a dorm. They inspect my apartment like hound dogs looking for drugs, the place was in terrible shape when I moved in, and there is a roach infestation just name a few of the many things wrong with this apartment complex. The apartment I got looked nothing like the apartment they showed me when I was deciding if I wanted to move in. The carpets were stained everywhere, the bath tub was stained everywhere to the point that bleach can't even clean it, and I constantly carry a fly swatter because you never know when you'll come face-to-face with a cockroach. They came into my apartment once to do an inspection and took pictures of anything that looked like it was messy, and sent them to my roommate and I via email. Then, they proceeded to fine us because our living space was just a little to messy for their liking. Keep in mind that NOTHING was damaged, there was nothing illegal, or anything that would be of harm to anyone in the apartment, but because they thought we should be living just a little bit of a cleaner lifestyle, we got fined. How we as residents live our lives is our business and should not matter to our landlord unless we are in violation of the lease. These are just a few things that are wrong with the venue. I could keep going much longer about all of the terrible things regarding this apartment complex, but I'd be writing a novel if that were the case. Save yourself lots of money and stress and please, for the love of God and for your own good, DO NOT live here. There are much better living options that are close to campus than this. read more

Anyone who gives this place so much as a single star is doing it justice. After a year of living in the complex it has been the most miserable and inconvenient operation I've ever seen. There is no gate code to let people in and out of your apartment. So this requires you to manually walk and go retrieve your friends and or delivery. Whoever designed the complex decided that the residents would love a 5-10 minute commute, just to get out of your apartment and make it to your vehicle. This makes carrying groceries and other things for upwards of a football field a hassle. JUST TO TAKE THE TRASH OUT YOU HAVE TO WALK TO A STRASH CHUTE THAT IS AT THE END OF THE PARKING GARAGE. Someone has already posted pics about the garbage scene. Also, on move in day, be prepared to be told you can NOT use a u haul to bring your things to your apartment. Their "advice" is carrying my furniture into my apartment through 3 flights of stairs. I was unable to use my Uhaul, as did many other people, which lead to having to carry my 3 piece couch piece by piece from the 1st floor to the 3rd. Now, for the second time, we are receiving roof repairs. Which wake you up around 7:00AM every morning for 2-3 weeks. So if you want to be woken up by the sounds of what seems to be gigantic rats running all over your roof, this place may be for you. I truly can't believe this place is still running with how terrible it is. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THE LEASE, YOU'RE GONNA WANT OUT IN 2 WEEKS MAX. read more

These are literally the worst apartments to live in. The only thing is the location. Everything breaks, all the time. The floors are disgusting. The hall ways are even worse. Theres broken/hanging fans and hanging signs. Theres wholes in about every wall. Not to mention the people who work in the office especially Alicia the manager are absolutely rude. If you call them your going to get attitude back. They charge you fines for no reason. I was charged a 200 dollar fine for having two dogs. I don't have two dogs. I've never had two dogs. The maintenance people sometimes take up to two weeks to get to your apartment and then when they actually come they don't finish their jobs and will leave your stuff out. I wish I never moved into this place and that I could move out asap. I'm literally counting the days to move out of this shit hole. They over charge for parking when you can pay for a year with LSU in lot next to the building. The gates are always broken too. I had a homeless man chase me to follow me in. There are much nicer apartments that are less. The computers in the computer room are always broken including the printer. I haven't once been able to use the printer/computer down there. I finally went and bought my own printer. read more

The apartments are really great, they are close to campus and have pretty nice interiors. I only have a few complaints. I fell that this apartment complex should have a pet policy of some sort in which everyone can own a pet and not only those with a doctor's note. I also don't like that the hallways get rather loud at night. Also the workers smoke at the entrance to the garage in building 1 on the first floor and the smell of the smoke seeps into the hallways and into my apartment. And lastly the internet could be improved a bit, it doesn't allow for the smooth playback of videos. read more

I agree with Azure's review. The ONLY good thing about the apartment is the location. The water smells like eggs for a while after summer break, the halls are disgusting and everything's broken. The maintenance sucks. And the management is the biggest crock of $#!7 I have ever met. They sold my apartment without letting me know. Never once did I get an email. Instead they post it to the door of my apartment (the one that is 250 miles from my hometown). Good f***ing riddance. read more
